Courses / Highland Park Work Day Saturday MARCH 26 2016
« on: March 18, 2016, 05:53:02 AM »
Howdy all. On Saturday, March 26th 2016, there will be some work going on at Highland. The rough plan for the day is to REMOVE the basket for 12, then replace it with the basket from 15. A sleeve will then be installed for a NEW position and NEW basket on 15. This is a fairly labor intensive task and any help throughout the day would be greatly appreciated. We have some tools but bringing your own is suggested. We will mainly need shovels and rakes, maybe a wheelbarrow or 2. So far it is me, Jason Poole and Gary Lewis for the work crew. We will be out there early so if you have some free time pop on by =).

Courses / HIGHLAND PARK GROUND CLEAR SUMMER PROJECT
« on: April 17, 2015, 06:13:24 AM »
Greetings everyone,

This summer, there is a ground clearing project starting at Highland park. The main goal is to clear all the downed trees and limbs that can potentially be hazardous and damaging to the course. Mike Flynn has stepped up and laid out a plan. His plan will successfully clean up the course and recycle the cleared debris back into the course. This plan has 3 main phases:

1-Rounding up and piling up all the trees and limbs.
This will be done over the next couple of months. You will see wood piles starting to form in some key locations. Feel free to add to them if you have some free time.

2-Renting a wood-chipper.
The budget for renting a large chipper has already been approved. We will need at least 2 trucks and a bunch of strong backs. We will move the chipper to the staged piles and begin chipping them down and spreading them on the course.

3-Finishing touches
Although the chipping will only be 1 or 2 days, the piles of wood-chips left may take longer to move around. Also the bigger logs will need to be moved to more useful places.

If you have any thoughts or ideas, or would like to volunteer to help with this project please let me know. With such a vast undertaking, any and all help is appreciated. DISC GOLF!
