WEEK 3 - April 15, 2015
First Half #3
Trinity Links, Lockport, IL

TEES
18 Holes - Par 54-Short Tees
Skipped hole #15 because of flooding.  Instead we played a temp hole to the practice basket called 4b. We’re still not sure where 4a went. Better Call Tom M. A 270 ft hole to the practice basket from the east side of the east building. If you didn’t make it over the fence it was OB and you had to retee.

CONDITIONS
The temperature started out around 65 degrees with clear skies. The wind was very strong at around the 15-17 mph range, with gusts easily around 25 mph. All water area levels were up. The course was pretty dry for this time of year.

NOTES
• Once again The Swamps of Trinity ate many discs, but at least no one fell in this time.

• Thanks guys for letting us use the Trinity Links club house for registration. Although it was a pretty nice night it’s great to not have to worry about the weather elements. This makes a huge difference when getting things ready. Every course needs one.

• It was great to see everyone again. We had many new faces that we hope will continue to show up each week. We also hope that the familiar faces that weren’t there will make their way back and be part of this year’s league.
We miss you!

• Kevin “Kid K” Macuiba & Izak ‘IMAC” McDonald win the playoff against some of the best to take the top honors. They shoot fantastic round of 42 (-12) to capture the victory.

• It’s easy to say “Team Youngsters” or Team Future” or something along those lines won big last night. But the reality is that the new generation of top disc golfers in the Joliet area is here and their here to stay. It’s so damn cool to see so many guys in their teens and early twenties with so much ability.
This generation could be the best we’ve seen in a long time or maybe ever! Older guys just suck it up and face the reality!

• Kory “El Nino” Seddon & Joe “Kool” Kolar easily take down the Am/Nov Division. They shot a great round of 46 (-8).

• DJ draws Cali and ends up with the worst possible partner. Just kidding Darrin! They (he) end up shooting a unbelievable  round of 54. Nice game!

• Hey Tom M. I think guys are still trying to find hole 4a. What’s with that?

• Shout out to Tracy for getting the payouts ready for us. It’s so nice to have everything ready to roll once you come back in after the round.

• Shout out to the Taco Lady!

• Shout out to Twan on his perspective of how the night unfolded.

• Dana Vicich is running the Swinging Bridge Open 2015 this Sunday, April 19 in Pontiac. More info go here:
http://danadiscgolf.com

• Steve Rachan is having a doubles tourney fundraiser this Saturday April 18 at Highland Park. Check it out here:

Don’t forget we are at Knoch Knolls Park in Naperville this week with a 5:30 Start.
I’ll have maps.

A few changes:
Hole #1 we will be playing the original hole. The old tee pad is still there.
Hole #2 there will be a mando left of a marked tree down the original fairway.
Hole #3 we will be playing the old tee pad to the new basket.

IMO, all excellent changes. Will the same be true for Tuesday night handicaps?

WEEK 5 - April 29, 2015
First Half #5
Knoch Knolls Park, Naperville, IL

TEES
18 Holes - Par 54
We played old #1, Mando left down the original fairway on #2 and old #3’s tee pad to new basket.
The course is dry and in good shape but there is alot of tree stumps to trip over.

CONDITIONS
The temperature started out in the upper 50s and dropped into the lower 50s by the end of the night. The winds were in the teens and gusts in the upper teens and it always seemed like a head wind. It made the course a little tougher.

NOTES
• Knot Knoch Knolls!
After a few year hiatus we are back at Knoch Knolls Park. It’s a nice little 18  hole course that’s good for the beginning and the ending of the year when we have daylight issues. We’ll definitely be back next half. It’s was nice to be crapping in 10 for a change, if you know what I mean.

• Going into the night most players were thinking the magic number to win would be a 36 (-18). Two teams came close but it didn’t happen this time. Maybe it was the wind always in your face, or maybe it was just a new course most players didn’t know or maybe it was that damn mando on hole #2. Either way we’ll be back in the second half see if we can get that Perfect Score.

• Groups were messing up on the 180 foot holes and parking the 300 ft plus holes all night. Although I can't leak any names. Schmooky & Bibz Oops!

• Kris “Big Hutt” Hutter and Tommy “Tommy Gunn” Arianoutsos    shoot a great round of 37 (-17) and win the playoff to capture the victory.

• Mario “Bebe” Guzman  &  Dan “Mickey D” McMillin easily take down the Am/Nov Division in a playoff. They shot a great round of 43 (-11).

WEEK 6 - May 6, 2015
A Dan Osysko Tribute

Daniel W. Osysko
February 8, 1989 - May 3, 2015
Manhattan, Illinois
PDGA # 46256

Age 26 of Manhattan, passed away on Sunday, May 3rd, 2015.
DanO’s Obit:
http://jtowndiscgolf.com/SMF1/index.php?topic=1074.0

An incredible sight was displayed at the funeral home. Hundreds and hundreds of friends and family lined up to pay their respects. It was breathtaking to see the line wrap around the entire inside of the building. It took over an hour to see him. The kid was loved by many.
Dan’s family was incredibly gracious to all who came and you can easily see where he gets his quality character traits that we all know and love.

IN MEMORY
• As you all know league was cancelled last night, Wednesday May 6, in honor of the passing of our dearly loved friend Dan Osysko.

“Dan is a dearly loved member of his disc golf family. He was a phenomenal player but an even better person and friend. He had the greatest personality and smile that would always lighten up the room. Our deepest sympathy goes out to his family and loved ones.”

“As many of you already know, we have lost not only a club member, but a brother and friend. Dan Osysko was a phenomenal golfer with a cannon for an arm and heart of gold. He was taken from us too soon, at the age of 26.”

“Dan O. was the shit!!! Miss that kid. We all love him mucho!”

“We will forever miss his kindness humor and charisma on and off the course. DanO wil always be missed but never forgotten.”

“Our deepest condolences and many prayers go out to the family. Keeping you in our hearts. DanO will be forever missed and always thought of.”

“The spirit around here won't be the same without you DanO... Gonna miss you a lot man.. "Too soon but the good lord knows...the reason why I guess.." Can't wait til we meet again. Rest in paradise big guy. Everyone misses you and loves you. Keep wangin' bro. Much love.”

THE START
• Dan’s good friend and fellow disc golfer Joe Witzl introduced him to the game.

• He was one of the new guys who helped out with the concrete teepads at Highland Park. From then on Dan & Joe became a major part of our Disc Golf Family.

THE PLAYER
Professional
PDGA #46256
991 Rated

• Some say pound for pound he was the best player around and others say he had the most raw talent they ever seen. We all know he could throw extremely far with tremendous power. But regardless we also all knew what he was capable of doing on any given round of disc golf.

• On April 28 2013 Dan threw one of the most spectacular rounds ever witnessed by most players. A 44 from the long tees at Trinity Links! A PDGA 1061 rated round! Most feel it should of easily broke the 1100 rated category. A round that will probably never be touched. Either way that round is considered World Class!

• IL State 2014 Dan tied for first place. He ultimately lost in a playoff and took the second place finish like a true pro. In a true sportsmanship manner Dan graciously congratulated Justin Celmer on his victory.

• Ledgestone Insurance Open 2014 Dan takes 11th place and holds his own against some of the best in the world.

• At Trinity I remember everyone throwing at a pinata by the baseball diamond. Leo was moving the pinata up and down to make it harder to hit. So everyone was drilling the cage with vengeance missing the piñata. As guys kept throwing I can remember the distinctive sound the baseball cage was making only when Dan would throw. Leo instantly says yeah he has a little something extra on his throw. So his doubles highlight nickname became “Lil Sumpin Extra”

THE TRIBUTE ROUND
After the ceremony around 40 plus of Dan’s closes friends went out to Trinity Links for a tribute round.
The grounds where soaked and somewhat muddy but nobody cared.
It started out around 10-15 players throwing on a hole and within several minutes it grew to around 40-plus of us all throwing and dedicating each hole and every throw to DanO.
What an amazing sight to see!
We had people from The City, Upstate, Downstate and Out of State. People throwing with no shoes, dress shoes and high heels. Players in suits, ties and slacks. We had young players, somewhat old players, men, women and even a pregnant woman all banning together playing a sport we love for someone we love even more.

“A World Record for someone worthy of one, we had the biggest dubs, trips, quintets round ever! Thank you DanO for some of the most smiley moments ever. Forever smiling!”

Please add your memories of Dan at this link
http://jtowndiscgolf.com/SMF1/index.php?topic=1074.0

RIP Dan “Li’l Sumpin Extra” Osysko

Thanks to everyone who contributed their words to this.

See You Later,
Jesse

Sorry no updates to report, I've been out of town. If someone wants to give a report go for it.

• Tony Dabulskis celebrated his 20th year of playing last night at West Park where he got his start.
• As of Tuesday 12 new baskets have been replaced at Highland Park.
• One Disc Challenge is coming up.

CONDITIONS
The night started out around 74 degrees with winds at around 13mph coming out of the NW, gusts were into the high teens. We had scattered clouds with rain early in the day with a bit of humidity. The temps dropped into the high 60s and the winds died down by the end of the night. The course is in great shape considering all the rain from the last week. The gnats were out in force and mosquitoes were striking pretty heavily.
