J-Town Ice Bowl / Allowing ribbons on your discs at J-Town Ice Bowl
« on: February 01, 2011, 04:46:39 PM »
I contacted the PDGA, and they are allowing the players to use ribbons on their discs to make it easier to find them in the snow.  This is just for the J-Town Ice Bowl.

Registered players are now being listed on the PDGA site.  Help spread the word to PREREGISTERIf you do not plan on playing and still want to come out, we could always use volunteers to help run the event.
If anyone has any questions about the event, they can reach me at 815-651-7327.  Thanks, Dean Bingham.

Courses / Re: Respect...these are public parks

I never mentioned anything about cars.  How does "You doing your fair share," equate to doing whatever you want?  How am I disrespecting you by asking you to simply respect the request of the park about an issue.  The last half of my post was me just rambling about people in general.

Check on the side of the bathroom building.  Was it a dyed disc?  Someone almost hit me in the back of the head.

Courses / Respect...these are public parks
« on: September 21, 2010, 08:08:59 PM »
People that are still throwing on Hole #19 @ Channahon, you should really be setting a better example.  Or at least try and encourage people to not throw from #19.  Its only going to become more of an issue with the park.  Eventually, the park district will do something that you all don't like; and then you'll bad-talk the park district like you did nothing wrong.  How hard is it to respect a request? Second of all, somebody almost hit me in the back of the head on Monday.  I was across the creek almost to #1's basket.  If you are that far off, maybe you should practice more before you even think about coming out to a course to play.  On another note, why do some people have to have such a hatred for other people using the park.  It is a "public park."  They have just as much right to be there as you do.  I understand some are rude, but what does it accomplish when you disrespect others' rights to walk/run/just be/etc.  Especially, when they will be gone or finished in a short amount of time.  If you start on a certain hole away from them, by the time you come back around, they will be done and gone with no frustration or confrontation.  Some of you get so worked by the smallest things.  It can be very simple to block it out and concentrate on the routine putt that is waiting for you.  Instead, you let it bother you, and whine and cry about it to everyone else around you.  Save it for your mommy.  Some of us still enjoy being out on the course.  What would you do if Disc Golf was as big as Ball Golf?

Shoot The Breeze / Re: Jonie B. Whatever

The point is that he is publicly spending money in the disc golf communities face (tournaments, even if he has a "sponsor", I'm sure all expenses were paid...not:-\, extra-curriculars) when he should be a little more conservative with his money seeing that he knows and has said countless times in many different ways that he wants to make it right.  Within that first week or two, he has told people that he had the money, but would make the excuse that he didn't have it on him.  I have known people like him in my life and have been burned by people like him.  He puts on a face when needed to avoid confrontation.  I do not have sympathy for people that bring it on themselves.

And he is trying to sell his J-Town Bag Tag.  You know where that money would go.  I'm sure he has said that he was doing it for the convenience of getting a new member and would get another one from Cory.  The point is that he is not authorized to be selling memberships.

7-8 days of work to complete the task.  Day 1 starts with Mike Vargo on the initial dig.  Day 2, framed and partially filled stone on 8 pads.  Day 3, framed 8 more while the first 8 were being poured, and poured concrete on the remaining 8.  Then it literally poured.  We had to wait a couple hours to finish the pads because of rain.  Day 4, stripped the forms and back-fill.  Day 5, framed 3 more pads and filled with stone.  Day 6, framed 4 more pads and filled with stone.  Day 7, framed 1 more pad, leveled, compacted, and poured concrete.  Day 8, stripped the forms and back-fill.  Everyone listed had a hand in either the framing, concrete, or back-fill of the tee pads @ Highland.  Thank you for all the hard work & the investors.  Let me know if I forgot someone.  Thanks.

How do you like them apples...

All whites & blues are done @ highland except #16 because it is probably coming back up on top.  Please help keep people off the newly poured tees until Wednesday night at doubles.  (5, 6, 12, 13, 14, 15)  We could use some help early and throughout the day on Tuesday and Wednesday to help babysit.  Thank you everyone that funded the project and the guys that got the job done.

I would, also, like to start spreading the word to not put any salt/sodium chloride? on the new tees this winter.  There were a handful in the first pour that were rained on early(and the second pour might not have got the fiber mesh put in the mix), so we would like to see how they turn-out after the first season without that variable.

Look at Joliet Pro Championships last year and that will give a better idea of what 1020-1030 should look like.

Something isn't right with the ratings.

So, the pro division is the only one playing the longs?  Advanced is not playing the longs?  Thanks.

Courses / Re: West Park Tee Boxes
« on: July 05, 2010, 09:26:17 PM »
West Park has erosions issues that need to be addressed before that happens.  Highland is, also, showing the same signs of erosion if we are not careful; aside from people trimming and destroying trees and bushes because they hit them a few times and get pissed because they can't deuce the hole.  What happened to being excited about new challenging courses and letting them grow into the course the designers imagined?  I don't hear of PGA players going out and trimming courses to their liking.  They practice daily and perfect their game.  This goes out to all you whiners.  The ones that never blame themselves, only the game or the course.  Save your temper-tantrums for your mommy.  Have a little respect for the people that are still trying to enjoy this game.

Rest of the park and course are pretty good.  That path from 12's basket to 13 is getting more and more eroded.  Hopefully, we can get the rest of those tees poured this week.
