Amateurs only B-Tier PDGA sanctioned tournament.

I will be adding $100 to the purse for each of the following divisions!: Advanced, Intermediate, Recreational, & Novice. In addition, any other division that gets 6 or more players will get $25 added to it's purse as well. This is a new format I'm trying. I had a great group of amateurs who attended the fund raiser Chain Reaction for Rio that helped us raise $831 for the American Brain Tumor Association. This is my reward to all the Amateur players who showed up and gave so generously. Come out, have a great time, and get a great payout if you "cash"!

Please note the change to the division schedule as shown below!

Two 27 hole rounds at Westpark, in Joliet, IL. (3 temp holes)

Westpark is one of the most popular courses in the Joliet area. Hole 2 is an easy shot down from the top of the ridge to the basket below, while hole 11, The Green Mile, is a long shot with a fairway that narrows significantly from the halfway point to the pin. The course plays thru mature oaks. Tee pads are natural.

The current plan is to add the same three holes between 8 and 9 that we added last year.

Pre-registration is highly encouraged. By pre-registering, you help us run a smoother tournament.

Day of Registration (if spots are available) and Check-In will be between 8am-9am both days. Please check in when you get there.

Players meeting will be held at 9:15am. Tee off at approx. 9:30am. Tournament headquarters will be in the pavillion above hole 8. The pavillion is off Wheeler Ave.

Tentative division schedule:

Saturday:

Advanced - 3 trophies

Intermediate - 3 trophies

Short tees first round, and long tees second round

Sunday:

Recreational - 3 trophies

Novice - 3 trophies

All Am Masters divisions - 1 trophy (if there are 4 or more players in the division)

All Women's divisions - 1 trophy (if there are 4 or more players in the division)

All Jr.s

All short tees

Courses / West Park "clean up" day - June 8th @ 10am
« on: June 05, 2013, 03:15:52 PM »
I will be doing some prep work at West Park this Saturday for the Chain Reaction for Rio tournament on June 15th. I'll be there from 10am until everything is done. If anyone would like to help out, it would be much appreciated!

I need to mow the green for hole 8A (I have a beater lawn mower that I'll bring), and re-set the steps down to hole 10.

We may find other things that need to be done once we get out there, but those are the two most important things.

Leagues & Tourneys / Tournament Prep day at Highland on Friday morning
« on: April 04, 2013, 08:22:33 AM »
I will be going to Highland tomorrow morning (Friday) to do some prep work. If anyone would care to join me, I would appreciate any helping hands that show up.

Here is a short list of what I would like to get done:

1.) Shovel out the dirt and leaves that have built up on the stairways on 12, and especially 13. 15 looked fine, but I'd like to check hole 6's stairway too.

2.) Rake, or blow out the leaves along snake road so that OB is easy to determine on holes 6 and 12. If anyone has a gas powered leaf blower they could bring, that would really help.

3.) General garbage pickup through out the course. Special attention to holes 13-17. If you are out there practicing over the next two days, do me a favor and pick up a few cans or bottles as you walk. The whole disc golf community will be thankful for it.

I should be out there by 9am with my rake and shovel, and some garbage bags. If you are looking for me early, check by hole 13s stairway.

Aces and Chains is proud to present this B-Tier PDGA sanctioned tournament.

Tee boxes are cement.

Leagues & Tourneys / AC Finals results are in!
« on: September 11, 2012, 11:58:30 AM »
AC Finals

As a thank you to all of you who participated in one of our tournaments this year, we will be running the AC Finals tournament again this year. The cost is only $10 for Ams, $20 for Pros. The format is unique. Players are matched one on one against each other for a full round of golf. The winner advances, and the loser........doesn't. Players who advance are matched up against another advancing player until only one player is left in each division bracket. That player wins all the cash from that bracket.

8 Pro players, and 16 Amateur players from each of the four main Am divisions will play in the tournament. The tournament is by invitation only. Invitations are given out to the players with the most PDGA points from Aces and Chains tournaments this year. Pre-registration is not required, but it is the only way to hold a spot.

Initially, we will invite 16 Pros, 21 Advanced, 21 Intermediate, 20 Recreational, and 20 Novice players who will be eligible to pre-register. Once each bracket is full, no more registrations will be accepted for that division. Pre-registration is on a first come, first serve basis. So don't wait to pre-register if you get invited. There are more invitations than there are spots in the tournament. If we have spots left we will open it up to day of registration to anyone who played in one of our tournaments this year.

The winners of each division will have their names put on a perpetual trophy that will be displayed at the shop. Each year, the new winners will be added. Winners will also receive all the cash from their division. So, if the brackets fill, each winner will receive $160!

Rounds one and two will be at West Park, and the semi-final and final rounds will be at Highland.

Leagues & Tourneys / The Wild West - Spotter and helper needed
« on: August 23, 2012, 12:04:06 PM »
I could use a spotter or two for hole 11, which has been divided up into three islands. Having a spotter each day will speed play by helping the players determine if they are out of bounds, and where they went out at. Plus it should be fun watching how people attack the hole, and how many players go out of bounds.

I could also use one more helper at the table during pre-registration to hand out the player pack items.

If you can volunteer for either or both, please post here, or PM me with what day(s) you can do. Thanks!
