We have donations first from the winter & then the summer league. Thanks Mike & Jesse! They will be on top of the list this season. Jason Poole has made spread sheets in the past for easy posting & I hope he doesn't let me down this year. Jesse, Gary Lewis award winner for 2011, made the sponsor flyer's. I'm encouraged the club is involved with promoting an icon in the community, along with promoting disc golf. My goal is to exceed the $5,700.00 we raised last year. I thought we were 5th, but I'm told we were 6th, world wide.
Kudos to whoever posted the results. I couldn't make it out there today & was curious about the results. It was a pleasent suprise to the the results were posted. Congratulations Dana, Matt, & Kester, also the other winners. I saw that all of Dana's rounds were over 1,000 rated. That's' awesome play! Just as awesome is Al, Nick, & Tom.
Finally, Matt & I set the post for their basket called the Shackle. Matt helped dig indicating he's coming along with his ankles. The basket will be set tomorrow, Friday for the Joliet Championships. As many of you know Matt & Riphizer are a local start up Company. The effort is intense & costly for a new business. The design for a new basket & the hoops they have to jump through, is unbelievable, & they did it! My hope is to see these baskets at Highland. Gary Lewis has a lot of influence & would like to see the Chainstar baskets, the same as West Park. Wouldn't it be sweet to get baskets from a local Company, for a high end local course, to get the contract for the baskets? The answer is yes!!! I told Matt I'd kick In $200.00. This is a work in progress.
Thanks to Jesse & Darrin from the summer league for their donation to the Ice bowl fund raiser for Morning Star Mission. It's a win, win situation. It gives Disc Golf & our club a positive image, & supports an icon in our community.
Half time as the Bears lead the Viking. First, there is not going on with the mesage board this time of year. The Festival is this weekend 10/22. Flash mentioned about doing something on #18 at Channahon. It was about elevating & moving the basket more to the right & putting the water in play. I saw something on a USDGC video & have some thoughts that would make that really cool! I would also like to change 9's basket & make 6 an island. Thanks Flash, I want to talk more.
Even if it's only one day it's still tremendous! Check out Ray Hill! You can click on Ray's name & see how he did on what holes. What little I know, the course is nothing that we have here, it's extremely difficult.
Thanks Jesse & Darrin for the 50/50. I'll be able to purchase a tree to replace a dead one. So far this year $1,355.98 has been put into the Park, not including the new tree. Keep in mind in already posted in thanks, The Winter League has helped in this cause. Also not included is fuel, all my fuel for Sept. was $450.00. Also not included is an upgrade of equipment, FS Stihl 130 grass trimmer (sweet) & a Stihl BG 86 leaf blower, 190 mph.
Now this is a first! I think Ray hinted this to Mike Holmquist about giving it to me or giving it to the Ice Bowl. Without stuttering I told Mike Ice Bowl. The winter league will be on top for the 2012 Ice Bowl donation list. Thanks Mike & Mick!!!
Now we start into another part of the disc golf season, winter league & the first tournament of the new year, 2012 Ice Bowl. What a big deal it was last year with the blizzard the week of the tournament. Way too many names to say thanks, but they were all disc golfers!!! That was a sweet memory for me!
I don't know how to give Jason enough kudos for our web site. How this stuff works is beyond my pay grade. At midnight comes, things change. It's not by accident. Kudos Jason! It may be simple relative to your spread sheets, but it's still cool! Keep up the good work, just don't ask for money!
Although I do a lot at Channahon it's not a 100%. Upon request, I asked Shawn Harmon & Roy Bazan to help me put a basket ring around 16's basket. They have pity on my soul & the work was made easy. Thanks you guys, you're always there when I want you.
I was contacted by a teacher from Joliet Central about getting around 80 used discs. I have, without counting about 30 I wouldn't mind donating. You can either get a hold of me & I'll meet you, or drop them off at handicap, or doubles. If you want $2.00 a disc, I'll give that to you.
This has been going on for sometime & I want to mention today along with a couple of others. I went to Summit Seed & it's somewhere southeast of Wilmington. I can't get the blend of fertilizer locally I like. While that far away, I know of this sod farm east of Manteno, Quality Turf. They have a mono strand of bluegrass I want to test for Channahon. I wanted ten pieces & Bob gave them to me! Thanks Bob!!! I want to do something about the mosquitoes at Channahon, Tom M. got me a qt. bottle of demand at half price, $120.00. Randy Moore, Blaine, Tafe are names that come to mind, mostly Randy, are thrilled with what's going on at Oswego. It's effortless work, maybe not quite effortless. I also received an award last week. The concrete tees at Lockport. I can't forget my J-Town friends, I'm truly blessed! The deal today brought to surface these thoughts. There is many subtle good things going on.
I want to point out it's cross country season at Channahon. They typically run Tuesday & Thursday evening & Saturday morning. Saturday morning are impossible to play. The week days are usually a little more flexible. With some delay a round could be worked in, but not always. This is just a heads up, especially with the Classic coming up.
