I need help keeping track of what people are accomplishing in the J-Town area starting from September 2011 and ending September 2012. I started keeping a list but I need help throughout the next 9 months. Frank said he would help but it would be good to have one or two more individuals keeping track. It would be great to have the most deserving and extensive list possibly for the next GLA Award winner. Let me know if you can help. Post under here, email or call me.

It's time to start putting up names of nominees.
You have Thor & the gang that helps him. Enough can't be said about Jason Poole. Your partner Darrin. My bias is to those with non profit motives, like yourself. It tells me where their heart is when it's for free, & an atta boy for encouragement.

Yes, those guys will definitely be on the list.
Don't forget Shawn Harmon. I want to put a ring around #13's basket, Channahon, & he's begging to help me.He's around when needed to  help & promote Disc Golf.

A couple more & that would be Ray Hill, Dean Bingham, & Dave Kociuba.  They're on the J-Town board & contribute through out the year. Some highlights, they help with things like the tournaments the club has. The Ice Bowl, club invitational, the USDGC qualifer.
We have Mike & Mick with winter league.
I know...........you'll put them on the list. :)

I am very proud to say that I served 9 years active duty and I know exactly how it feels to be deployed and how much care packages and letters from home really impact deployed troops, so I will bring some stuff next handicap or doubles league next week.

I have a weed whacker and can help with work day stuff at Highland. Let's get it done! I'll bring my kids and make 'em pick up trash for ice cream!  ;D
That's GREAT! I need a spirit lift. I know about being deployed also. I also know about being hated when the tour is over. The care packages are for Wed. Maybe we can hook up Tuesday. I'll be there Tuesday & my name is Frank, please introduce yourself.

You were right Frank, I didn't see this one! I hit that quick link to show posts since last visit and it went to the next page - sorry brother! I can't say enough how awesome it was to meet you. You're a kindred spirit Frank! I appreciated all your help and your wisdom!

Mike Kursell: He may have been mentioned already. Mike does all my artwork for the tournaments, and I know he does a lot of artwork for other TDs as well. I am constantly getting compliments on his hotstamps and posters in the shop. He never asks for anything in return. He also helps Gary sometimes. There may be other things he does for the sport that I'm not aware of as well.

I forgot, maybe more, that the club did. The WGE Woman's Global Event, Ray Hill was the TD.

Jesse,

Please put Mike Kursell on the list of nominees. He has long been a part of the disc golf scene around Joliet. He does all my artwork, and never asks for anything in return. I know he has done artwork for J-town this year as well, and Thor, etc. We are lucky to have so many talented individuals passionate about disc golf, and Mike Kursell is certainly one of them.

Good catch. He is on my original list but not on the board. The updated list is below.

Are you looking for comments on the listed people?  All have contributed. I'm not sure, but I think Tom Matesevac & Dan O. contributed a great deal this last year. Without waiting for your answer I'm commenting the top & bottom of the list, Thor & Jason. I remember Thor last fall doing tournaments the end of last year. He's been huge at  Lockport with the help of many. He also helped me with getting the travel baskets, for the raffle for  the Ice Bowl. I know he has a lot on his plate, so a lot has been a sacrifice.
I'm a lot closer to what Jason Poole contributes, mainly because of the club, I'm on the board with him. First, he's the staple! He has ideas & plans & executes! He's a big deal with local tournaments with his computer work. Jason is always there, in the grass, helping!!!

Woh...Mr. Frank Grimes isn't on the list!

Please add Frank - not only does he put his time, money, and sweat into beautiful Channy, he is a fantastic person all around. He is battling cancer but still does what he does. He makes an effort to befriend new people and make them feel extremely welcome. If it wouldn't have been for Frank's outward show of support, I don't think I would have had near as much motivation to continue to improve and keep playing the singles league.

Frank, you have my vote, sir!

Frank you can comment on anyone you like. Also with the new nominees I would like some information on their accomplishments this year.

Frank, you have my vote, sir!

You have to wait 5-years before winning the award again. Frank won in 2010 which was the first year it was actually given out. We want to spread the award around for the first five-years to the many people in our area that are deserving of it.

The new updated list is below.
The additions are Tom Matesevac, Dan Osysko & Steve Slater. They have all put their blood, sweat and tears into the transformation of Trinity Links. They have all helped on other local courses with improvements and they have all have had vital rolls in many local tournaments.

In addition to other things he has done this year, Steve Slater was one of the first people to step up and help me at my last tournament when my team left me high and dry. That was a big help.
