Thank You's / Ryan Barcas
« on: September 23, 2012, 07:56:56 PM »
What Ryan did, (Dr. Pepper) Saturday at the Channahon Classic, was gave me a thank you card signed my many, stuffed with cash donations. The total was $70.00. One was $20.00 along with 20 singles, the balance was $5.00. I'm not sure if I'll put in the course or buy some good whiskey. I put between $1,500 & $1,900 each year. You people soften my heart & encourage me to soldier on. Thanks Dr. Pepper, it's good for my soul!

Courses / Channahon Basket #6
« on: September 14, 2012, 09:27:25 PM »
First, thanks for the birthday kudos. Birthdays are special again. Randy was helping me that day at Channahon.
The basket on #6 will be a mach 3 for the tournament. I put it in concrete today. I now need to remove the old one & replace it. We've had it for some time, I just didn't put it in. Actually I want to make that whole an island & put it in then.

Leagues & Tourneys / Channahon Classic & X/C
« on: September 07, 2012, 04:49:58 PM »
This is just a reminder that Channahon has cross country on Saturday morning. It's not a good time to practise there. Also on Tuesdays & Thursdays, but not the impact Saturday has. I don't want you to come out & find you can't play. Some like to come out & practise before the tournament.

Leagues & Tourneys / Channahon Classic Coming up
« on: August 26, 2012, 06:42:41 PM »
It's about 4 weeks to the tournament. A couple of things I could a hand with is spreading wood chips & digging a gravel circle around basket #13. Time permitting upgrading the gravel V's (arrows) in front of the tees. #8 has been bugging me for a long time. Let me know if your free during the day.

Courses / Channahon #16
« on: August 10, 2012, 07:27:37 PM »
For the first time in my history, there isn't any water in the hole, left of the tee on #16. They're aren't any discs either. The last I remember it being this dry was 1988.

Leagues & Tourneys / Da Ropes!!!
« on: August 09, 2012, 08:19:43 PM »
I see only 7 have pre registered for Da Ropes. It's a little disappointing because we have some awesome players & this layout challenges the best. You have to think & play smart. Hole #19 is an example. It's only 178' & I saw a very good player get a 12 there. Gary is doing the merchandise & Joliet Cabinets (Dale) the trophies. A lot of thought went into the layout, (Jason Poole) then of course laying out the line. Ray Hill's Sarah was out there helping. Yes..... Ray helped too. Hope to see you Sunday!

Randy (Sr.) & I are are picking up garbage July 26th to get the course ready for Illinois State. We would welcome any help. A time is to be determined. It will be during the day, not late afternoon or evening. That's nap time  ;D.
I might add, Jesse is working real hard to make this a memorable tournament. Nice job Jesse!!!

Leagues & Tourneys / J - Town Invitational (Mokena)
« on: May 29, 2012, 08:39:08 PM »
I can't say enough about Jason Poole & this tournament! First he had to make a plan. I have a layout  if your interested. He ten made loops every 20' or 25' on 6,600' of line, that was for the flags. Guess how long that took? He then went out, along with Frankie &  Steve Rasberger & laid out the line. Part of that process was putting in whiskers that were used as reference points & then walk back & run the line. Then of course all that had to be removed. Thanks to the guys that picked up the pins for us. Ray Hill was huge in stepping in to help. I'm thankful he came back from North Woods to help! His spirit was 2nd to none. Now Tom McManus with the extra baskets & pads, not one gripe, maybe one, I was playing with the horn, & in his special way told me to knock it off! Those of you that know Tom, know he has a special way with words  :)  Then took the stuff to Fox Valley. What a guy! Back to Jason. He did all the registration, contacts with the PDGA, & the Mokena Park District. All the behind scenes work. The Park made a sign closed for tournament. That was awesome! I was the puppet TD. You may hear that term in the future.
Great job people!!! It was free to J-Town members!
FYI, this will happen again for the USDGC qualifer in August.

Courses / Finally, After Two Years & Eight Months
« on: May 25, 2012, 07:45:40 PM »
#11's basket, at Channahon was moved today. Tyler (Blaha) Gruszka from Palos Heights & Nick Sustersic from Palos Hills we're the first to play it. No skips off that grass. We'll see how seed wears vs sod. My bet is the seed, at least this seed blend.
