Title: Highland A Tier?
Post by: ANoe17 on February 01, 2014, 03:07:53 PM
As I hear, we can not run an A Tier at Highland due to the basket qualities. This course is one of the toughest yet best to play. I dont know much about running tournies, but it would be awesome to see Highland apart of an A Tier.

If we had a huge group of volunteers to fund raise money to replace baskets why not break it off by hole and try to get them replaced?

Im sure Noe's are down to replace at least one. I understand it is not cheap one bit, but I figure we love to play and would try to give back somehow.

Thoughts? Maybe there is a certain reason why they havent replaced these? Just throwing the idea out there ppl.

Gary Lewis is handling that project. He already has some baskets. The summer league that has a basket fund that Gary has over sight on. I think, one of the problems is the baskets & poles are different sizes. We can't simply put a basket on a pole.
If you want to give something back to the community, we're having an Ice Bowl fundraiser. It's for Morning Star Mission in Joliet. They've been caring for people for over 100 years. Sat. Feb 8th is the event.

Thanks for getting back to the post Frankie. That's great to hear that Gary is working on it. Only bad thing is that I just got ankle surgery and will not be able to play the Ice Bowl. So sad, but my bros should be there Frankie.

When the time comes, I'd be more than happy to donate a few baskets to get Highland up to snuff. I currently have three Discatchers that I would donate. And I'm sure I could buy a few more to help out.

It would be great to get this done in the next year or two. I do plan to expand First Flight, the A-tier I'm running, to include the Pros, and I would prefer to run one or two of their rounds at Highland.

So count me in! Please let me know if/when this is happening and I will participate in whatever way is needed.

That is sad. The positive is it's winter. Unless you have to shovel snow from your driveway. That get's a little testy. Hopefully you can heal up for the summer. I don't except it, but if you want to give something to the Mission, that would be appreciated.

You need to talk to Gary, he has chainstar baskets. I'm a helper, & will give input as needed.

My bad. For some reason I get these mixed up with Discatchers. The baskets I have are actually Chainstars, so they will match what Gary has. Been trying to reach him for over a week now. I also have the sign from hole 4 at West. A customer brought it in saying that he caught some kids vandalizing it and took it away from them. He left it with me to get it back to Gary, or the park district. I'll keep trying to reach him.

Gary will be at the Ice Bowl this Saturday. You can talk to him then.

When we updated baskets up here in MN a few years back, we sold the old ones to members of the club... Kinda like a sponsor the hole thing... for a couple hundred bucks you could get a great basket for at home and help the local course update... Just an Idea for you.

If the price was right...I could use a permanent basket in my yard.
