Just an FYI that we are monitoring the flooding situation out a Channahon.  I know that at the moment the entire park is closed.  As soon as I get more information I will let everyone know.  Since we are still 2 weeks away from the event we should be ok, but I will be watching this closely and announcing any changes as soon as I possibly can!

*sigh* I don't know how long it's been down, but I tried to get out to the pdgasignup.com website to pre-reg and it's not working.  That kind of sucks.  I don't know if pre-reg closed tonight or tomorrow (probably tonight), but I guess I'll just have to sign up Saturday morning.  Was hoping to use my debit/credit card instead of cash.  This is why I do registration on my own site - can't trust the other site!

$141 in the ace pool rolling over to Saturday.  Plenty of good ace runs out there, come and get it!

IOS #53 - The Manhattan Open
October 13th-14th, 2012
Round Barn Disc Golf Course - Manhattan, IL

We have reached an agreement with the Manhattan Park District to bring the final IOS to a hot new course in Manhattan, IL!  Come on out and play this brand new, great course.  Designed by Windy City Course Design (Brett Comincioli), if you've enjoyed playing some of the temp holes at IOS tournaments, you'll love playing this event!

MPO/MA2/MA4 will play on Saturday
All other divisions Sunday

Pro's $50
AM's $30

2 rounds of 18 holes to the RED baskets.  Right now I'm probably not going to add any temp holes because the design of the course is such that it fills the available land quite well, and anything that we add would just be a chump hole.  I don't want to add a temp basket just for the sake of adding a temp basket.

Pre-Register here: http://www.paperorplasticsports.com/2012/2012ios53.html

Pre-reg closes tonight!  Come on out and enjoy this great weekend.  The 3 temp holes...

- Hole 1A, a 244' anhyzer with a triple mando - designated by staying in between the two marked trees and staying below the top of those two trees.  Can play short of mando with no penalty.  If mando missed you take a stroke and throw from drop zone.
- Hole 19, a 750' bomb.  Plays uphill at first, and once you are on flat land funnels down towards the basket with OB baseball field fence on the right side and OB yellow rope on the left side and behind the basket.
- Hole 20, a 312' island hole.  Plays as a righty hyzer if you think you can hyzer your disc and land in the island.  Everything on the tee side of the road is in bounds, everything on and over the road except the island is out of bounds.  If you go OB from your tee shot, you go to a drop zone that is about 100' from the basket.  If you go OB on any throw after your tee shot, then you play from where you went OB.  Do you play safe and stay on the one side of the road until you can safely cross into the island? Or are you accurate enough to hyzer it out there and get it to land safely in the island?  Sweet hole :)

DEFINITELY worth your time to come out and play this course!

It will be 2 rounds of 20 or 21 holes. Huge thanks to John McGowan, Fred Vroman, and Dag Grada for their help in getting this course in awesome state! They even cut out a triple-mando clown-type temp hole for this event!

I will be out at Jericho Lake in Aurora all day Saturday and at Oswego from about 1-3pm Sunday if you are interested in pre-registering in person instead of online or by mail.  Don't forget that it's super important to pre-register because you have to use your player pack to play.  I order a grand total of player packs based on the number of those pre-registered (which is 3 people right now! yikes!)  If only 10 people pre-register I'd probably only order 20 player packs.  It would stink to have to turn away 50 people because they didn't bother to sign up online!

Pre-registration is now online for the Discraft One-Disc Ace Race!  It will take place Saturday August 4th at Eagle Ridge in Oswego, IL.  A great relaxing and enjoyable time shared by all!  It's only $25 to play, and you get $50 worth of stuff in your player pack!  2 prototype Discraft discs plus a bunch of other cool swag.  The official list will be released later!

Pre-Register here: http://www.paperorplasticsports.com/2012/2012acerace.html

PLEASE NOTE: We are closing pre-registration TWO WEEKS before the event!  We have to order no later than 2 weeks before the Ace Race, so be sure to sign up!  We will order some extras for the people that come out that day to sign up, but if we run out, we cannot let you play!  Pre-register to GUARANTEE A SPOT.  Checkin will start at 8:30 AM, and the discs will be available on a first come, first serve basis.  You will be allowed to practice with your discs until a 10 AM tee off.  We will allow for a rotating tee time start since this is a more relaxed event.  I'll probably let people start up until as late as 11 AM, but I strongly feel that we are going to sell out this year and will have everyone going by 10:30.  It only takes about 90 minutes to walk the course twice!

A great event fill with lots of trash talking and cheering!  I'll see you there!!!

Congrats to John "Bagger" Cleaveland on his VICTORY in Advanced Senior Grandmasters!  He played Trophy Only and WON that trophy!  Move up!

Thanks all for a great weekend - see you June 2nd and 3rd for The Oswego Open @ Eagle Ridge!

the earliest that I'd be able to post anything is Friday, sorry that I never got a chance to get a sign out there.  The course will be closed though.  It's really tough to bounce casual players when the pavilion is so far away from hole 1.  Depending on the attendance will determine what I tell players on how to handle the casual players.

THANK YOU FRANK GRIMES!  We have an added sponsorship of $180 reward dollars that will be given out as extra CTP prizes throughout the weekend because of his gracious sponsorship!  What a great guy!

Don't forget pre-reg closes Thursday night this week!  Take advantage of saving a couple extra bucks off your entry fee!  Forecast is calling for mid to upper 70's both days - beautiful weather!

A reminder that pre-reg closes Thursday night this week!  Save some money over your day-of entry fee!
