August 27th & 28th - The Wild West
« on: August 04, 2011, 09:41:59 AM »
New incentive to pre-register:

I'm going to try something new to encourage pre-registration. I will be adding at least 3 free CTPs for everyone who pre-registers. If I get a lot of pre-registrations, I'll add more. I have some beautiful Supercolor Buzzz's and Roc +'s that I will donate for CTPs. Mike Kursell's "Zombie Bandit" artwork is on these, and they came out great. That's a $25 value for each FREE CTP. I may add a shirt or two if I do more than three CTPs.

So, pre-register and have even more fun!

Now, here's the official info:

West Park - August 27th & 28th - The Wild West 2011

Two rounds of 24+ holes thru mature oak trees and elevation changes. Come out and see why West Park is a local's favorite. First round shorts, and second round long tees. Players meeting at approx. 9:15am and tee off at approx. 9:30am both days

Pre-registration is available here: http://www.acesandchains.com/node/442

Pre-registration is available until 8pm the Friday before the tournament, both at the shop (1706 W. Jefferson St., Joliet, IL) and online at the link above. Registration the day of the tournament is available from 8am-9am with a $5 walk up fee.

Tentative schedule:

Saturday:

Novice
Intermediate
all Pro divisions

Sunday:

all Jr divisions
all Women's divisions
Recreational
all Advanced divisions

Hope to see you all there. If you have any questions, post them here and I'll answer them.

Wild West mini long drive competition
« Reply #1 on: August 11, 2011, 11:10:46 AM »
Mini driving competition:

As part of the Wild West experience, I will be running a mini driving contest during the lunch break. Let's see who can drive their mini the farthest. Bring your favorite mini! Or, I will have some excellent driving mini's available for purchase if you don't have one that's suitable. One drive is included in your registration fee. Extra drives can be purchased for $2, or 3 for $5. Money from the extra drives purchased will go into the pot. May the longest drive win.

$2 will be taken out of every entry fee and put into a pot for the longest drive with a mini. As always, Am's will be paid in funny money, and Pro's will be paid in cash.

The contest will be held on the green mile (hole #11). All mini's must stay in the fairway or be disqualified. Any mini that comes to rest in or beyond the weeds on either side of the fairway is considered OB and cannot win. I'll take a look at the fairway before the contest starts and make any adjustments necessary for a fair contest. I will be the sole judge and jury regarding OB, unless I appoint someone to run the driving contest, in which case, that person shall be sole judge and jury.

I would like to get a few volunteers to help out with the mini driving contest. I'd like a few runners to bring mini's back to the tee box and to generally help out with the contest. If you are willing to volunteer, please PM me.

As an additional incentive, I am giving away a free custom stamped mini driver to the first 50 players who pre-register for The Wild West.

Registrations are starting to come in. Get yours in early enough, and get a free mini driver!

Do you have any of the small (smaller Lil Flyer combo-type) Gateway Evolution mini's?  I'll grab one if you do.
P.S. I'm shooting for the 35+ record!

Thank you so much to everyone that came out!

I would like to officially thank my team for The Wild West:

Cory Clements: Cory is always there to help, from beginning to end. He took care of registration, checking scorecards, & the leaderboard, along with a bunch of smaller tasks, all necessary to the tournaments success. And once again, I got to play on Saturday while Cory watched the table for me. That was icing on the cake. It often feels like I'm helping him run the tournament, instead of the other way around.

My sincere thanks Cory....I couldn't do it without you.

Mike Kursell: All my stamps are Mike Kursell originals. Mike produces fantastic artwork, and he's very generous with his time. He's also been a big help with trophies, scorecards, posters, shirts, and the shop logo. Mike is another irreplacable member of my team!

Jon Boster: Jon is my sponsored player (when I can afford to sponsor him), and without him, the shop wouldn't be open on Saturday, or late on Sunday after the tournaments. Thanks for bringing the water......and the CTPs.....and whatever else I forgot. Friend, employee, and mentor, Jon has been a huge help to me. Hopefully, I have returned the favor often enough...

Diane Johnson: My wife was kind enough to come out and help both mornings, and to caddy for me on Saturday. Thanks baby!

Jacob Burton: Jacob is always offering to help me. So I tagged him this time to help with the mini long drive competition. Both days, Jacob was there for me, standing in a field to chase down errant, and not so errant minis. I really appreciate the help Jacob.

Several other players helped with the long drive competition, most notably Eric and Larry. Thanks guys!

There are a LOT of other people who have helped me both at The Wild West, and at my other tournaments this year. Though I can't possibly list all their names here, I can't thank all of you enough for your help, whether it be a kind word at the right time, or some heavy lifting. So, thank you to everyone who made being a TD easier this year. It is very much appreciated!

Oh, and scores are up.

I put in the official TD report today, so the ratings will go in on the next update a few weeks from now. (ie: not today's update, but the next one.)

As soon as I get the points totals for all 5 tournaments added up, and the final 16 in each division selected, I'll post here with more info on the AC Finals Match Play.
