Courses / Channahon #5
« on: March 27, 2012, 08:08:39 PM »
I did a retaining wall, from stone around the park, on #5, for function & ascetics. The wall was left in mid construction & vulnerable to vandalism. I was not there Sunday or Monday. With a pile of rocks left in front, for two days, I was expecting the worst today. It's easy to think that someone would have trashed what was done. To my suprise, someone had placed the existing rocks on top of the wall that was under construction. It blew my socks off!!! We had  tournament at Highland & doubles at West. That make me wonder who would do that?
Hey! Thanks!

Courses / Ball Golf /Channahon Disc Golf
« on: March 12, 2012, 07:48:01 PM »
I was told there were some ball golfers hitting golf balls at the Channahon Disc Golf Course. I mentioned this to the Park. What I'd like you to do if you see this, give me a call & I'll call the Park superintendent. He said he could be there in 2 or 3 minutes. It's nice that he's supporting disc golf.

J-Town Ice Bowl / Extended Raffle
« on: February 08, 2012, 07:00:57 PM »
This might not be the most fair thing to do because not everyone that bought raffle tickets will be at winter doubles. It will be a free raffle for those that bought raffle tickets for the Ice Bowl. Only five items, but it questions when I get the raffle & then claim the prize. A couple were given to me & a couple I won. Jason Poole won a oil change that he gave me & I've already cashed that in. Thanks Jason!
I really need the sponsor signs!

J-Town Ice Bowl / Sponsor Signs
« on: February 06, 2012, 07:15:41 PM »
I'm not sure where all the sponsor signs went. What I do is take a picture & include it in the thank-you letter. Would you either get a hold of me or turn in to the winter league, please?

J-Town Ice Bowl / What a day!!!
« on: February 04, 2012, 08:58:05 PM »
I couldn't be more pleased with how the day went! It was 2 1/2 months ago this fundraiser started ,& all my frustrations vanished! There is so much information, the Ice Bowl sponsor list won't let me update it. Jason!!!
We had 82 players show up with an 80% chance of rain. The conditions would be mud & slop & 38 degrees. Think about it, we had 58 players for the Channahon Classic & 82 today with only 7 divisions.
I think it's common knowledge I was big in raising sponsors, & raffle items. To be clear, it's the overall picture starting with the J-Town board, Ray, Jason, Dean & Dave. The players! What the hell  has a tournament without players? Many from Fox Valley came out to support our event, tremendous! I cracked my ribs two weeks ago & was limited in what I could do & Shawn Harmon had my back. Scott Coyne & Brian Sullivan with the fire.
Can you believe as one organization we raised in the area of $8,000? I'm told that the Joliet area is known for it's known it's disc golfers. Guess what  America? We're also going to be known for giving back to our Community!!!We did good & all the parts fit!
Thanks to all that made this a success!

J-Town Ice Bowl / Ice Bowl Players Pack
« on: January 27, 2012, 09:42:31 PM »
I'm doing this on my own & will personally pay for it. I was talking to Gary & this came up. He suggested something about a players pack. It be art work done by Mike Kursell of the 2012 Ice Bowl logo  8" x 10".
I did not discuss this with the board, it's just another  way of donating. Dean said something at the meeting & he may have been right.

J-Town Ice Bowl / Ice Bowl registration 2012
« on: January 26, 2012, 09:37:08 PM »
Others have the on line registration set up. I want to point out it's $3.00 more for processing by the pdga. It's $5.00 game day, an extra $2.00 & that fee goes to the Mission.  Like Mike Krupicka said, it's easier if your pre-registered but it's a financial wash, or almost a wash. I just wanted to make that point. Don't forget the canned goods.

The Ice Bowl process started last Nov. at our club meeting.
Jesse made the sponsor flyer's this year. We need them early to get them off to the Chicago sports teams. We were stilled denied by the Hawks.
Dave K. is TD this year & did the players flyer (awesome) & got the on-line registration going.
Gary Lewis is doing the merchandise.
Thor was a big deal getting things started, setting things up with the PDGA, etc. He talked with Mike Kursell about making the sponsor signs. I also consult him about his fundraising skills.
Jason Poole has saved me a ton of time with the spreadsheets. He made it quite easy to update the list. He & is also making the scorecards.
Scott Coyne is suppling the firewood & Sully the firepit.
Dean stepped up to help me with the raffle, & wrote a nice article for paper.
All the J-Town board is involved tournament day.
Everything is straight with Channahon. Ellen gave me a hug when I dropped the certificate yesterday.
The last piece was the portable toilet & now that's set.
Wheew!
We have over $4,100 in cash donations & still climbing, over $1,500 value in raffle items.
The table is set, we'll see who shows up to eat.
