Hole 9 is mine Grimes, now take your Italian Sausage fingers off of it. All i want from you is about a couple thousand rocks to line both sides of the fairway. Then clear out about another 75 feet behind and slightly to the right of current basket, and build around a 20 ft mound to put the basket on top of. After you do all that put my name on it, oh and by the way thanks in advance. One last request i forgot about frank. The large tree just left and in front of the tee that blocks big anhyzer shots, i need that removed. Twenty years ago that thing was the size of a 5 ft bush and was quite easy to throw over. I hope your passion can accomodate my needs brother, otherwise i'll have to find someone else to do all the work so i can take ownership of my hole. Let me know how long this will all take, i was thinking you could have all this done by thanksgiving.

I guess thats good news isn't it? The park is still yours Mr.Grimes. Did it really matter what they said, you know you would have been there working in the dark to keep that place in tip top shape. Thanks Frank

Thanks for those kind words fellas.
I can remember going to Westpark every day as a kid, i grew up only 6 blocks away. One day out of the blue sometime around 1979 i think baskets started popping up at the park. I can remember saying to some friends, what the hell are those things. I thought the park put them there for birds to hang out on. Then i saw some people throwing frisbees at those baskets. These things weren't for birds, well in a way they were if you could throw a 110 gram world class frisbee from k-mart far enough to make a duece. Soon after i got a frisbee from k-mart and started playing every day, i was hooked from day one. Then i met some of the old pioneers from the sport, guys like Gary Lewis, Paul McCallister, Steve Matul, Phil Corrigan, The late Dennis Flatt, Brian Cummings, and Bob Ryan, and many others too many to list.(never thought i would lose my memory but 30 years ago can do that) Those guys all had different styles but they were some of the best i can remember when i started. They all had a very positive effect on me playing disc golf as well as the growth that we see today in the Joliet area. Thank you fellow Disc Golf Pioneers, if not for them and all the new guys that continue to keep the Joliet area one of the best places to play we would not have what we have today in J-Town.

Congrats Brian you really deserve this incredible honor. Brian was one of the first frisbee golfers i wanted to emulate back in the early 80's when i started playing this great game. Along with several others like Gary Lewis, Phil Corrigan, Steve Matul, The late Dennis Flatt and many others too long a list to mention. Brian not only could play the game with the best golfers in the midwest, he was and still is one of the best promoters of the sport. I would have to say Brian is alot like the great boxing promoter Don King(his hair is pretty similiar too). Only in America Brian, Only in America.

Don't forget to thank  that guy Frank Grimes, I think he got around 60 sponsors all by himself. That guy is incredible!! He also did numerous other things for the Icebowl during the couple of months leading up to tourney. Next time you see this guy on the course, give him a big thank you!!
