J-Town Ice Bowl / Special Thanks
« on: February 16, 2012, 07:01:30 AM »
First and foremost I want to Thank Frank Grimes for relentlessly collecting donations for the morning star mission.  Frank you did one heck of a job and people don't get to see what you have to do to get donations so I want to acknowledge that and again tell you amazing job.  Also you did a great job running the raffle.  Second Dave K did an awesome job being the Tournament Director, managing 82 players is no easy task and you did an awesome job.  Jason Poole is the computer guy on the board and he had the scores up and posted on the PDGA site before most people left, very very few tournaments have what the J town tournaments have, and that is Jason Poole and is mad skills.   Dean B and Ray H did an awesome job being the support staff, helping with registration and checking score cards and a ton of other behind the scenes type of things.  Gary lewis did all the merchandise and that is a tough task trying to keep everyone happy and not getting ripped off by dishonest players.  dale D for doing the trophies, which turned out awesome, and Mike K who did the art work for the trophies and the sponsorship signs.  J town disc golf club did an awesome thing and with out all the players that showed up the Ice Bowl would not have turned out as great as it did.  So a big thanks to every player that showed up and supported the Morning Start Mission.  I want to thank the people from the mission that supplied the lunch and coffee and Terri and the man power to serve the players lunch.  good work everyone.

So over the weekend I was talking with the one and only Dana Vicich and he told me about a new PDGA sanctioned league that you can get points for.  This would be something cool to have at summer leagues for the handicap or doubles.  Not sure how it works, does anyone have anymore info on the PDGA Sanctioning Leagues

Leagues & Tourneys / wed night glo league
« on: November 28, 2011, 12:20:11 PM »
Hello
So a few people have been asking about a glo league and I thought this was a pretty cool idea.  I am gonna start a glo league at Trinity Links Disc Golf Course in Lockport Il.  I am gonna have ctp's and an ace fund as well.  I figured $10 to be all in, keep it cheap and still let everyone get in on the ctp's and ace fund ( all for $10).  I don't yet have LED lights back, I did order them but they have not come in yet.  I am hoping they come by wed but I doubt it.  It will be random draw doubles and depending on the turn out I might have two divisions but as of right now I am thinking only one division.  I will also be doing a few optional CTP's to raise money for the Ice Bowl and basket funds.  if you have any questions please let me know and I hope to see a bunch of you guys and gals out on wed.  this wed is the first league that is the 30th of november.  start time at 5:30 so get there early to warm up
thanks
Thor
I also have some glo plastic left over from the glo tourney if anyone is interested..

Courses / Fundraising for new baskets at Highland
« on: November 21, 2011, 08:05:47 AM »
Hello everyone
Hey I want to start a Glo League at Trinity Links to start and if the park districts get on board move to all the courses.  The league will be set up to raise money for new baskets at Highland.  I was thinking of having the league on Wed night and starting at 5:30.  It will be cold but if we could get a group out to play in this on a routine basis it could be a lot of fun and think, highland could get some new baskets.  I am thinking 7 dollar entry fee and a few CTP's and ACE fund.  the first day of this league would start on November 30th at 5:30.  let me know what your thoughts on this are so I can figure out if it should be one division of random draw or two divisions.  hope to hear from everyone interested.  Thanks

Leagues & Tourneys / J town vs Fox Valley club challenge
« on: November 21, 2011, 08:01:05 AM »
Hello
First I want to thank everyone from J Town that came out and the Fox Valley member's who came and made this event so much fun.  I want to give a huge thanks to Dave K for being the captain and running this event, it was smooth and he did an awesome job getting everyone organized and tallying everything up.  I want to thank the J Town board ( Ray Hill, Frank Grimes, Dean Bingham, Jason Poole, and Dave Kociuba) hope I spelled all those right and the Fox Valley board for supporting this event.  Blaine from Fox Valley did an awesome job as well, cooking the food and bringing the pinata to blow up with discs, ( this was a ton of fun by the way for those of you who missed it).  J town won the event and Dana Vicich set a new course record for Cali, ( he shot a 14 down in the wind by himself...Awesome!!!).
I am in the works of trying to get a club challenge against Streamwood and will have more information down the road.  Again thanks to everyone that made this event possible..

Also Frank did come out and weed whack (he also took a nap hahaha) but for all you that have played out here and have seen the new tee on hole Four.... you should thank him and throw him a bill or two...
