Kyle L. Koetz

Kyle L. Koetz, age 44, at rest on Friday, September 25, 2015, surrounded by his loving family and friends.

Kyle is survived by his beloved wife of 21 years, Jennifer (nee Luce); loving children, Zachary (Rebecca) and Jonathon Koetz; loving brothers, Scott (Penny) and Treven (Betsy); loving father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ron and Mary Lynn (nee Hercegovics) Wilkinson; dear brothers-in-law, Frank (Ann) Luce and Roger (the late Kimberly) Baker; dear sister-in-law, Michelle (Mark) Robinson; as well as numerous loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Wyllene (nee Ott) Koetz; brother, Gerald; and sister, Kimberly Baker.

Kyle was employed for 21 years at Arbor Mills (Joliet Cabinet) and six years at Our Lady of Angels Nursing Home. Kyle simply enjoyed work. It was something that kept him energized during his life and his illness. He enjoyed disc golfing, wood working, and shed hunting. Most of all, Kyle loved his life and all of the people in it.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Suh at JOHA as well as all of the nurses at Presence St. Joseph Medical Center and Joliet Area Community Hospice who provided excellent care to Kyle. A special thanks to Daryl DelSasso and the employees of Joliet Cabinet for their support and kindness.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to H.U.G.S. of Shorewood or Joliet Area Community Hospice.

A Celebration of Kyle's life will begin on Wednesday, September 30, 2015, with a visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of funeral service to be held at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 29, 2015, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet. Per Kyle's wishes, cremation rites have been accorded.

Kyle was one of the original J-Town Disc Golf Doubles League members back in the mid-1990s. He was a great person and he was always first to help out.
Kyle also worked on many of the trophies for IL State & Channahon over the last decade or so. He was the behind the scenes guy who busted his butt with the cutting, sanding and varnishing of some of the coolest trophies.

Just two months ago he came out to IL State and played the hole day in that brutal heat. He said his cancer wasn’t going to stop him from playing one more IL State with his son Zach.
What a warrior!
