WEEK 13 - June 27, 2012 First Half #13 Highland Park - Joliet, IL
TEES 18 Holes - Long Tees Pro/Adv, Short Tees Am/Nov- Par 57 Everybody played the alternate Blue Tee on Hole 16. A 350 plus shot teeing from behind hole eleven's blue tee pad. It’s about 300 to the top of the hill with about a 50 foot straight down putt. A very cool shot and everyone seemed to enjoy the challenge.
CONDITIONS The temperature to start the round was a around 90 with winds from the south at around 12mph. Gusts were near 25 mph. It was a tough hot, windy day for disc golf. The temp fell into the low 80s and the winds died down by the end of the round. The course is looking pretty good but it still needs some trimming and garbage collecting before IL State.
COMMENTS • To our experienced Ams that pair up with a beginner. Your guidance towards these players is a major part of the future success of the league. Please be a mentor to these new players and make sure when they leave they feel like they had the coolest time and want to come back. It’s great to win but if feels a whole lot better knowing you helped make difference in someone’s game. You just might be helping the next great player in our area.

The race for the top four spots in each division is coming down to the wire. In the Pro/Adv division Steve Forneris & Darrin Johnson are tied for first with only two weeks left in the first half. Tom Matesevac is only two points off the pace and making a big push for the top spot. With Fern missing next week it leaves the door wide open for some movement. The top four spots are starting separate from the rest of the field and time is running out for that late push.
In the Am/Nov division it looks like Kevin Yockman is going to run away with the first place spot for the first half. He just won again giving himself a six point lead with only two weeks left. Thor Batchelor and Kester Jeffers have a comfortable three point lead for second and third but they will definitely need to play well to maintain that lead. They will also be battling against each other for that second place spot. The race for the fourth and final spot includes almost 20 players so it should be very interesting to see the pairing these next couple of weeks. It’s going to go down to the wire.
The Fourth of July falls on a Wednesday which would be the first week of the second half. League will be canceled that week and resume on July 11. Go and celebrate with your friends and families.

I need help keeping track of what people are accomplishing in the J-Town area starting from September 2011 and ending September 2012. I started keeping a list but I need help throughout the next 9 months. Frank said he would help but it would be good to have one or two more individuals keeping track. It would be great to have the most deserving and extensive list possibly for the next GLA Award winner. Let me know if you can help. Post under here, email or call me. It's time to start putting up names of nominees.
You have Thor & the gang that helps him. Enough can't be said about Jason Poole. Your partner Darrin. My bias is to those with non profit motives, like yourself. It tells me where their heart is when it's for free, & an atta boy for encouragement.
Yes, those guys will definitely be on the list.
Don't forget Shawn Harmon. I want to put a ring around #13's basket, Channahon, & he's begging to help me.He's around when needed to help & promote Disc Golf.
A couple more & that would be Ray Hill, Dean Bingham, & Dave Kociuba. They're on the J-Town board & contribute through out the year. Some highlights, they help with things like the tournaments the club has. The Ice Bowl, club invitational, the USDGC qualifer. We have Mike & Mick with winter league. I know...........you'll put them on the list.
They are all on the nomination list. They are all great guys and great J-Town disc golf promoters. Thanks for keeping track Paco.
