I was going to post something a couple of days ago, but I thought I could get a sign up. Please! stay off the dirt that has been newly seeded. Silly me to think that the timbers are cut & secured with chips by the bench, & graded black dirt, that someone might think it was seeded. It is seeded. It's really my fault, after making a path to walk directly, somebody still insists on going through the fence & walking on the newly seeded area. I'll do something on #14 to make it obvious that it's seeded.
Thanks for your help today Flash! I have an issue with personally giving a thank you to those that helped with our fundraiser. I'd like to think it means something to those that gave. Some, like 89 year old Martha Schoffstoll, took a little more of my time, we had to chit, chat. Flash wasn't involved in those. He'd be out there beeping the horn. Sorry Ray Hill, Darrin Johnson. & others, mail was my choice for you.Texas & California we're the extreme out reach, they were mailed. Thanks again Flash!
A side note first, I'm looking at the posts & it seems I own this part of the message board. Well here's another one, a thank you. Thanks to you how ever you were involved. Like I already said the goal is to raise money (fundraiser). To have a tournament you need players & that raises money. Not all that give, give money, therefore the raffle & that raises money. Just so you know,I have had NO connection with the Mission before last year. It started with supporting with the Northern Illinois Food Bank. My comment to that is the locals may not be familiar with that name. I knew Morning Star is a brand name in Joliet & it may be easier, with that thought, to get donations. I think it was true, we'd have $300.00 maybe. I don't think anyone in Joliet knows about Northern Illinois Food Bank. Thanks again J-Town.
Actually I didn't find it but I went out again looking for Ryan Gremillion's disc & I was given a Dragon lost on #11. Let me know if you can identify it.
I put this here for hopefully for more attention. So far with the tournaments that have turned in their donations, we're 3rd, behind Tulsa, who raised $5,643.00 & had 215 players. It would be a disappointment not to get another $45.00 & get ahead of Tulsa. I realize I may be the only one disappointed. I'm going to the Mission Monday at 1:00 pm so if I can meet you, let me know.
Morning Star has a blog about us.I don't know who reads it but it gives exposure to J-Town. Probably more important, it'll reach people that we couldn't. This expands on what Gary said before the second round.
They are in numeric order. I was able to contact some & I'll get those items to them. I'm hoping we can meet at doubles. Send me a personal & we'll figure it out. 1 243493 champion destroyer 3 243539 lone star chicken dinner 4 243548 2006 usdgc roc special blend 5 243595 star vulcan 6 243725 star max 7 243887 star sidewinder 9 244295 cemeno's pizza $10.00 10 244312 2010 ice bowl buzz 11 244315 babe's $5.00
If you've been following the posts this week, you will also have noticed the people that helped. I want to add what a pleasure it was today. The work my fellow board members was outstanding! I also want to make note of the respect Terri said she got from the disc golfers. The Herald News was out today. The Sunday paper reaches 39,000. town was in there a few weeks ago. I think Dean was responsible for that. If it's put in it's more exposure & good PR. Just think about our club is helping an organization that has been in Joliet for over 100 years. They get a huge donations from the community & we're part of that. Our club will be noticed for doing such a good thing. This was a rough week with 20" of snow & we rose to the occasion. The J-Town board put the frosting on the cake. Thanks everyone, it's a good thing we did.
PS The scores were up before most left the parking lot.
As some of you know we're having a fundraiser, Ice Bowl 02/05/11. What I think most if not all would agree, is to have footing from the tees. At these warmer temperatures & play on the tees. the footprints turn to ice. The tees are going to be cleaned, as needed for our Ice Bowl on a regular basis. The short story is Shawn Harmon, Flash, John Marron, let me help on 1 tee. Thanks fellas! There is snow in the forcast this week, & I may need help with the tees, let me know if you can help. It may or may not be needed. From experience, I can count on me.
