Leagues & Tourneys / AC Finals - invites and signup
« on: September 07, 2011, 10:59:06 AM »
There are several discrepencies at the bottom of the invite lists which I hope will be eliminated when one of the spots in that division fails to fill, either because the player is out of town, or lack of funds/interest for this tournament. If that fails to happen, then we may need to have a playoff for the last spot between the following players who are tied in points:

MPO:

Kris Hutter
Clayton Drake

Recreational:

Matt Jakusz
Chris Anderson

Novice:

Alex Africa
Danny Cardwell
Aaron Studer

Anyone I've listed above with a discrepency, may sign up immediately. All first alternates are welcome to do so as well. If we can't put you in a spot, we will refund the money.

Leagues & Tourneys / Intermediate update
« on: September 07, 2011, 07:15:40 AM »
A lot of movement on the Intermediate list. Randy still commands a huge lead over the field, and won't have to meet the second place finisher until the final round, if at all. Jacob Burton, and Aris Pashos (among others) bring a lot of points from lower divisions earlier in the year, and by playing multiple days at many of the tournaments. Let's see how that strategy pays off during match play. Will they be overmatched? Or are their skills progressing fast enough to beat the rest of the pack?

Int points:

Leagues & Tourneys / Final points totals after The Wild West
« on: September 07, 2011, 07:10:56 AM »
Points are up for The Wild West, and I've compiled the totals and listed them in the posts below. My apologies if I spelled anyone's name incorrectly.....I was up pretty late making these lists. So if I butchered anyone's name, please let me know and I'll edit out the mistakes.

Invites for the AC Match Play tournament will be put in a separate post later today or tomorrow, along with more details on the format.

Leagues & Tourneys / Re: Mini long drive competition
« on: August 30, 2011, 10:20:03 AM »
Results:

Saturday's winner - Mike Robinson - 323'  ($100)

After having several players throw in the 150'-175' range, Mike showed up. He bought in for an additional 3 throws. 3 of the 4 throws went over 300' easy. The 4th wasn't straight enough, and went ob. There were lots of oooohs and ahhhhs from the people watching him throw. It was truly impressive! No one else threw after that.....

Sunday's winner - Jon Boster - 265'  ($91)

Sunday's race looked much tighter. A few players were throwing over 200'. Jon walked up and thumbered his mini out to 240 feet or so, beating the longest throw so far. A couple of throws later, and one player was able to pass him up, forcing him to pay $5 for 3 more throws. On his next throw, Jon threw another thumber out to 265', beating the longest throw so far by about 12'. No one could beat it, so Jon left two throws unused. If you were watching him throw, you got the impression he could have thrown it farther with just a bit more effort.

I have a little bit of video footage from Saturday's long drive competition. Once I get it edited, it'll be put up on the Aces and Chains website.

Leagues & Tourneys / Re: August 27th & 28th - The Wild West

Oh, and scores are up.

I put in the official TD report today, so the ratings will go in on the next update a few weeks from now. (ie: not today's update, but the next one.)

As soon as I get the points totals for all 5 tournaments added up, and the final 16 in each division selected, I'll post here with more info on the AC Finals Match Play.

Leagues & Tourneys / Re: August 27th & 28th - The Wild West
« on: August 30, 2011, 10:06:36 AM »
Thank you so much to everyone that came out!

I would like to officially thank my team for The Wild West:

Cory Clements: Cory is always there to help, from beginning to end. He took care of registration, checking scorecards, & the leaderboard, along with a bunch of smaller tasks, all necessary to the tournaments success. And once again, I got to play on Saturday while Cory watched the table for me. That was icing on the cake. It often feels like I'm helping him run the tournament, instead of the other way around.

My sincere thanks Cory....I couldn't do it without you.

Mike Kursell: All my stamps are Mike Kursell originals. Mike produces fantastic artwork, and he's very generous with his time. He's also been a big help with trophies, scorecards, posters, shirts, and the shop logo. Mike is another irreplacable member of my team!

Jon Boster: Jon is my sponsored player (when I can afford to sponsor him), and without him, the shop wouldn't be open on Saturday, or late on Sunday after the tournaments. Thanks for bringing the water......and the CTPs.....and whatever else I forgot. Friend, employee, and mentor, Jon has been a huge help to me. Hopefully, I have returned the favor often enough...

Diane Johnson: My wife was kind enough to come out and help both mornings, and to caddy for me on Saturday. Thanks baby!

Jacob Burton: Jacob is always offering to help me. So I tagged him this time to help with the mini long drive competition. Both days, Jacob was there for me, standing in a field to chase down errant, and not so errant minis. I really appreciate the help Jacob.

Several other players helped with the long drive competition, most notably Eric and Larry. Thanks guys!

There are a LOT of other people who have helped me both at The Wild West, and at my other tournaments this year. Though I can't possibly list all their names here, I can't thank all of you enough for your help, whether it be a kind word at the right time, or some heavy lifting. So, thank you to everyone who made being a TD easier this year. It is very much appreciated!
