Leagues & Tourneys / Fox Valley Thursday Handicap League
« on: April 14, 2012, 08:15:36 PM »
Statring this upcoming Thursday, Fox Valley will be hosting Thursday Night Handicap League out at Eagle Ridge. We have gone the route of sanctioning the league this year so you will get ratings and points for playing. Fomat will be the same as previous years with the entry fee remaining at $7.
We will be starting at 5:30 for the first few weks until we have enough light to start playing long tees.
If anyone has any questions on the league, go to:
http://foxvalleymetrodiscgolfclub.com/forum/index.php?topic=2429.0

If you plan on attending, please post so that I can get PDGA #'s and ratings set up before hand to make everything quicker.

Frank has been hard at work out here and the course looks FANTASTIC!!!

Long tees now actually have fairways off the tee area. Shule has been thinned on many holes along fairways especially 5, 12, 13, 14, 17, and 18.

Thanks Frank!

Where do I begin? Pretty much my entire family has served for their county. Grandfather on both sides, my grandmother, uncles, cousins, my step-father, and my father, Gary served as a Russian message decoder for the Navy during the cold war era af the late 70's and early 80's.
My uncle, Neal has been serving in the Army since he was 18 and has been teaching ROTC down at the University of  for the past 10 years.

Leagues & Tourneys / Re: father son turny
« on: March 19, 2011, 05:37:07 PM »
I know that my home club up in Aurora/ Oswego has father son events quite often. I try to get my two boys, ages 10 and 4, out at least once a week. We usually hook up with a few other pairs of father/ son groups a few times a month. We even try to travel to new courses during the summer as well.
Most of the J-Town guys have seen David and I out on the course together at some point, I think we even went out to Frank and Beans handicap one week.
If you ever want to get together for a father/ son round somewhere, hit me up here or on Fox Valley's website and I am sure I can get something thrown together for a gathering of family golf.
As for the tourney aspect, I think it would be a bit difficult to get one of these organized. The number of parent/ children that disc golf together is not that large and it would be a considerable risk for the organizer if only a hand full of people showed up. Now an organized get together would probably be a bit easier and less risky as well.

Thanks for a great day. final results are:
Fox Valley 14.5
Joliet        24.5

You guys really dominated the doubles matchups going 7-3 in those 10 matchups. You guys are the first club to come in and win the challenge outright. Every other challenge has ended in some sort of overtime due to a tie after regulation!

Hopefully my shoulder is good enough to go for the challenge in Rockford. Either way I should see you guys out there!!
