Par for last years tournament for 24 holes was 72. This year the course will be very similar. The winner Adam Olson shot a 65 from the blue or long tees which was a 1036 rated round. He shot a 60 from the white or middle tees and that round was rated at 1045. He ended up winning by 6 strokes. This is extremely good shooting for this course.

Until he stopped in, I didn't know there was anyone besides Gary. Care to tell us a story about the old days Frank? I'd love to hear more about Paul and Gary...

Over 30 years ago Paul McCallister started running tournaments and promoting disc golf in the Joliet area. He created the Illinois State Disc Golf Championships. Gary eventually took over and built this area into something special. Phil Corrigan actually picked up Ed Headrick http://www.discgolfassoc.com/founder/ from the airport back in 1979 when Ed helped design West Park. These guys are why we have what we have today. The history of disc golf in Joliet is one of the longest and richest in the world!

I thought Ed had a lot to do with the design of Shorewood. I think Phil, nick named, wrong way, told me that. Maybe Gary. As things evolve we have Highland. A huge kudos to Steve Matual (sp) & Roy Carey, designed the course. Now we have the Joliet disc golfers who made the course happen. It really is awesome! We do have history, & courses of different levels to meet all skill levels. We have a great group of people.

Aces and Chains:
How about Channahon - who designed Community Park?

Frankie:
I'm not sure, I know it started as nine holes. I also  know Gary was a part or it. Established in 1982, I'm thinking more of the obvious names of that time. Phil, Roy Carey, Steve Matual, Paul & the young men in that day like Shawn Harmon helped put it together. I think the only original hole is #17. I've talked with Gary about it, more about the polotics than the design.
I see we're a little off subject, 29th Ill. State Championship. Jason will fix if it's needed.
