Tom will definitely be missed especially at West Park. He loved that place! Tom was a great down to earth kind of guy.
He didn’t have much interest in playing in the league but I remember one time he just came up to us and handed us $20 and said to put it towards our league. He was well liked throughout the J-Town disc golf community.

I'm new, I don't know anyone yet, but I am more than willing to help as much as I can. When I do something - like start Disc Golf - I jump in all the way to my head and sink or swim! Don't know if that is relevent, but I guess what I am saying is that I am already in love with this sport and want to do what I can to make it better for myself and everyone else that loves it.

Here's a link if you want to help out.

Also I will need help with IL State. I need spotters on each day and guys who are willing to get there earlier to set up and stay late to brake things down. We will also be having a couple of all out garbage collecting, weed whacking, ball busting clean up days at Highland Park very soon. Check for dates at this link. I'll have the info soon.

I need help keeping track of what people are accomplishing in the J-Town area starting from September 2011 and ending September 2012. I started keeping a list but I need help throughout the next 9 months. Frank said he would help but it would be good to have one or two more individuals keeping track. It would be great to have the most deserving and extensive list possibly for the next GLA Award winner. Let me know if you can help. Post under here, email or call me.

It's time to start putting up names of nominees.
You have Thor & the gang that helps him. Enough can't be said about Jason Poole. Your partner Darrin. My bias is to those with non profit motives, like yourself. It tells me where their heart is when it's for free, & an atta boy for encouragement.

Yes, those guys will definitely be on the list.

WEEK 10 - June 6, 2012
First Half #10
The Oaks - Mokena, IL

TEES
27 Holes - White Tees - Par 81

CONDITIONS
The temperature to start the round was around 75 with some NE gusts in the teens. The sun was out and it felt great. The temp fell into the mid 60s by the end of the round.  A picture perfect night. The course looked great and it was in  great shape.  Another perfect night for disc golf

COMMENTS
To our experienced Ams that pair up with a beginner. Your guidance towards these players is a major part of the future success of the league. Please be a mentor to  these new players and make sure when they leave they feel like they had the coolest time and want to come back. It's great to win but if feels a whole lot better knowing you helped make difference in someones game. You just might be helping the next great player in our area.

After a 4-year hiatus the J-Town Disc Golf Doubles League was  back at The Oaks. Thanks to Mary Beth Windberg, Mokena’s Superintendant of Recreation for all of her support and for allowing this to happen. It was great to be back and we are looking forward to having The Oaks on the second half schedule a couple of more times.

The race  for  the top four spots in each division is coming down to the wire. With only three weeks left in the first half the gaps for the top spots are closing. We have a ton of players jockeying for position. It's going to be tough battle through June 27.

The Fourth of July falls on a Wednesday which would be the first week of the second half. League will be canceled that week and resume on July 11. Go and celebrate with your friends and families.

Cool Ace Stories:
On Andrew Smith’s first throw of the night Andrew hits his first ace of his life. Now that's pretty damn cool. He aced hole 16.
Paul Pazanin aced Hole 12 which was also the CTP for the CFR disc. The cool thing is Paul told me to keep the disc and donate it to Operation J-Town Storm. These packages from home mean the world to our soldiers! Please donate and check out the link for more info.

Next week is WEST PARK  with registration starting at 4:15 - 4:30 pm.

PLAYERS
87 Players
36  PRO/ADV  51 AM/NOV
At least 10 new players

TOP THREE
PRO/ADV

Leo Borowski & Steve Forneris completely destroy the course by shooting an amazing round of 60 (-21). They take the top honors for the night. Now that's a hot round. They end up splitting 131 bucks and tacking on 4 huge points to their point totals for the first half. Fern now moves into first place alone with a two point cushion. Leo gives himself a chance to get back into top four with a late first half surge. Al Hermosillo & Dave Kocuiba shoot a fantastic round of 61 (-20) to take second place out right for the night. They end up taking home 43.50 each and they both make significant jumps in the points standings. Dave is now only one point out of fourth while Al sits at three points out. Taking third place out right for the night were Buddy Lee & Steve Slater. They also shot a fantastic round of 62 (-19) and split 60 bucks. They both keep their hopes a live for the first half and they need a late first half surge to get to at least that fourth spot.

TOP THREE
AM/NOV

Thor Batchelor and Brian Cantrell tore up The Oaks shooting an incredible round of 63 (-18). They take the top honors for the night and split $75. This was a huge win for Thor. He now moves into sole possession of third place for the first half by three points. Josh DeLucio & Andrew Smith take the second place honors by shooting a very hot round of 64 (-17). They end up taking home $23 each. Andrew keeps his hopes a live for the half and will need a late first half charge to catch the top four. Matt Hotuyec & Darren Terpstra also shoot a very nice round last night. They come in with a 65 (-16)  and take the third place honors out right. They end splitting 35 bucks. Nice shooting guys!

Look on the bright side Frank. In the old days they would just remove the cojones and we definitely wouldn't want a neutered Grimes walking around.
Stay strong Paco! We love you!

Hey Rob welcome to J-Town. Here's links to the schedules for both leagues in the area. You can't go wrong attending either one if you're looking to meet players in the area. Our Wednesday's league is at Mokena tonight and we should have a huge crowd. You and your son should check it out. I also put the links to our leagues photo galleries.

Highland Park still proves to be the toughest course in the area. When you have an eight down cashing in Pro/Adv and a five down in Am/Nov you know you have something special. It tests everyone's skills to the fullest. What a great course!

The race  for  the top four spots in each division is heating up. With only four weeks left in the first half the gaps for the top spots are closing in and each week  more players are moving into the picture. It should be a great race to the July finish.

The Fourth of July falls on a Wednesday which would be the first week of the second half. League will be canceled that week and resume on July 11. Go and celebrate with your friends and families.

Thanks Tracy for getting the payout ready for the night. This is a huge burden of our shoulders at the end of the night.

Next week is THE OAKS  with registration starting at 4:15 - 4:30 pm.

PLAYERS
64 Players
31  PRO/ADV   33 AM/NOV

TOP THREE

Jon Vargo & Dan Osysko take the top honors for the night shooting a fantastic round of 43 (-11) They end splitting 124 bucks. This is a  huge win for Dan O. as he jumps into a tie for fifth for the first half and only two points out of fourth. He’s playing some good golf right now. Tom Matesevac & Nick Austin shoot a very nice round of 44 (-10)  to take the second spot and split 75 bucks. This was a huge second place finish as Tom moves into a  tie for second and only one point out of first. Tom’s game is peaking right now and he will definitely make a serious run for the first half title. Tying for third and winning the ctp playoff on hole #10 were Darrin Johnson & Steve Forneris. They end up taking home $25 each. The teams ended up shooting nice rounds of 45 (-9). Fern & DJ add on a much needed extra point to their first half totals as the rest of the field tries to catch them. They stay on top of the first half points chart.

TOP THREE
AM/NOV

Winning out right with a great round of 47 (-7) were Kevin Yockman & Dan Janes. They end up taking home $32.50 each. This is Kevin’s second time he has won at Highland this year and by doing so he jumps into first place for the first half. He is now on top of the charts alone by two points. We had a tie for second with the teams shooting very nice rounds of 48 (-6). Kevin Macuiba and Adam Brkovic win the ctp playoff on hole #8 to take the second place victory. They end up splitting 36 bucks. This is a huge win for Kevin as he now jumps into a tie for fourth and in striking distance for the top spot. Jake Broughton & Michael Saenz take the third spot and split 25 bucks. Jake also moves into a tie for fourth for the first half and is breathing down the neck of the top three guys. The first time brothers won their divisions in the same night. Jason Smith & Danny Tejero take the top honors in their divisions for the night.
Also the first time we had aces by partners in the same round. Thor Batchelor on hole 19 & Danny Tejero on hole 7.

It was a deuce or go home kind of night. Just put it this way a -18 didn’t cash in Open/Adv division and a -14 didn't cash in the Am/Nov division. What the Hell!

Tracy Kenner is back and getting the payouts ready for the night. This is a huge burden of our shoulders at the end of the night. Thanks Tracy!
