Shoot The Breeze / Re: Best Players In Illinois When You Started
« on: September 17, 2010, 07:26:27 PM »
Flash can throw. We played at Highland & on #9, I through twice & was still short of his drive, about a foot. Now everyone knows I don't have any D, but I threw 3 times! I didn't hit anything either! I remember him before he got hurt & after 4 years & big time struggle he's coming around.
He throws so smooth & effortless. Flash gets my vote!!!

The meeting went as scheduled & nothing remarkable happened. I was asked what I didn't like & said so. No solutions were offered. Chuck Szoke is the head chief & said he would like me to continue working there. He also said he was going to double my wages. He likes what I do & on the bigger changes, would like notice. We talked for about 45 minutes & I thought there would be some confrontation, nothing close. I didn't feel the same about the next guy down the line, Pat Fox. He said nothing. Daryl Cole, the man before Pat took care of the course, so I was a Gods send to him. Pat has not had the same responsible, so it appears he doesn't care much. I've got a lot to do next week. Classic is coming up.
I may ask the sod men to help me pick up rocks.

Thank You's / Re: Kudos Jason Poole!!!

I wanted to say something before this but as Jesse pointed out the behind the scenes guy. This web sight is all Jason, the spread sheets he makes for handicap league, what he does with the computer for local tournaments, he is also huge in starting the J-Town disc golf club. Notice the score card board he made. The thing the score cards are put in for tournaments.  I think he took on line sewing lessons. Just a few things that I think are taken for granted. I'm glad he's with us. He's really quite a guy!

I always think of something after I post. He gave me a heads up about grass seed. I'm still unsure what' going to happen, I'll know in less than 12 hours, a meeting is scheduled at 0730.

The park called Friday afternoon & wants to meet at my convenience. I'm going to see if Thursday morning works. There are issues on both sides & we'll have to see how er can compromise. The reality for me was to throw in the towel. I know how to sneak out there & do a minimum to get ready for the tournament. I have so much more going on in my life to argue with unthankful people. They want to talk so maybe they do appreciate what's been done. It's encouraging.
We'll see.

This is a mini update. I had blood test last week & got the results yesterday Tuesday. They were good. The concern for me is what the psa would be & that was 1.14 a far cry from 13.82. To be clear, under 4 is good, but I was expecting near zero or maybe .25. The tests are more than psa, like Cloistral, the good was 170 & the bad 90.the limits are 200 & 130.
It been three weeks since my last treatment. My sleep is still inconsistent. I'm only getting up 2 -3 times a night to urinate in stead of 4 -6. One day over the weekend I slept until 0800 & the next 0300. As I mentioned before, the Nov. test is a big deal. Everything should be normal by then.
I'm really doing good, it just is going so slow. Thanks again for your support!!!

You have to see the work he did  on #4. Awesome!!! First he had to come up with the design, then size it to fit. He then cut the letters to make a wooden template After that spacers had to be made for the right height so the router wouldn't go in too deep. The words are recessed into the wood, in case some don't what a router does.  This was time consuming. It is simply awesome!!! Nice job Jason!!!

Courses / No Seed for #11 Channahon
« on: September 03, 2010, 07:35:58 PM »
I'm running into some snags with the park. One mail says finish you're projects & another says don't do any more until we talk.
Here's a little story. I hoped to have that seeded last fall, obviously that didn't happen. As things worked out I got fill from the upgrades they're doing in the park. Although much of the work was done by hand part of the 150 yards was knocked down with a machine.
I went for radiation & after the treatments would go there & work. It was easy to nap when I got tired. That went on for about a month, I'm guessing on average three times a week. I broke the shaft on my tiller because of the rocks. I decided to get pulverized dirt & get ready for seed. The park shut me down. Go figure? No cost to the park, no labor cost.  What's up? I've told them how I feel but that's been tempered, at least by my definition. I refuse to put up with their bullshit. If I meet with them I'll tell them what I really think. Bottom line one bridge burnt down & destroyed. OK! What can I do at Highland & Oswego? I already have ideas.

Courses / Channahon No sod #11
« on: September 01, 2010, 06:26:17 PM »
As much as I'd like to see sod on #11, I'm going to pass & seed it. I'm running at about 75 maybe 80%. There are other things other than disc golf I'm tied up with. I'm not getting support from the park, & I wanted them to pick up the sod.
It's going to cost somewhere in the $450.00 range without delivery. I'm getting three loads of dirt, one for long 14's tee, the other two for #14. With other things going on I don't have any reserve. I can't open the can of Whoop Ass! If I can't soon, I'm going to eat the whole damn can!

Thanks for the volunteers,

Joe Witzl
Nate Winterstein
Tom Matesevac
Ryan Gavrick

Shoot The Breeze / Re: Brian Cummings - 2010 Disc Golf Hall of Fame

I'm on board with the other posts. What's amazing he's like the energizer bunny & keeps on ticking.
I want to express a personal & make a point of what kind of man he is. He offered to give me discs to sell to give me income for Channahon. I would have but I have so much stuff in my car I don't know how I would keep track of everything. Like Gary Lewis, I'm sure many can give a personal experience about Brian.
Congratulations Brian!!!

Courses / Channahon #19 (Repeat)
« on: August 27, 2010, 02:39:50 AM »
I saw some familiar disc golf face throwing to #19. They said they knew about the no throwing to the practise basket but were getting ready to throw anyway. They also commented no one would notice. People do notice!
The park people said it wasn't their choice but they would pull the basket it it continued. I think a car was hit & they got a complaint.
Look, many people use the park for different things, & that park of the park is not a fairway. We have our area to throw discs.
I ask if you see someone throwing there, ask them not to. It doesn't help our disc golf cause. Overall, I think we're doing good, I just don't want to test the power of the park.
Thanks!

Courses / A Few Good Men
« on: August 23, 2010, 06:14:35 PM »
I'm looking for a few good men to lay sod, the week September 5. This is #11 at Channahon.
It will be about 200 pieces. It will be set up ready to go. I think it will be about 1 1/2 hours, maybe an hour depending on the help.
It's most likely we'll DI it during the week. If you can't be there yourself, find someone you can pay & send them. I will, but I'm not lookinf forward to carry all that sod by myself.
By the way Jason Poole can the spell check be upgraded? It didn't correct lookinf. Looking is what it should be.

Lost & Found / Re: Found your disc?
« on: August 22, 2010, 04:36:27 AM »
Well.................here it is early Sunday, I've been up for a couple of hours & I'm smiling. I guess that's why they make vanilla & chocolate.
I recently lost $25.00.  When I noticed I lost I announced it, Oh no I lost $25.00! The person who found it, overheard my statement, & returned it.
I think in the disc golf community, (not the gomer community) it's a standard mo to return the disc nothing should be expected. I can't tell you the work I've done to return a disc that has a name on it, I expect nothing! Tom M. can tell a story about a destroyer that was returned to him.
We have all lost discs & I find it contemptable to keep something that doesn't belong to you. It doesn't matter what it is, cell phone, money, car keys. Do you think if you found someones car keys that  you have a new car?
I don't care what it is, if you find something that doesn't belong to you, it should be returned. No exceptions!!!
Chocolate & vanilla.
