21 Holes - Short Tees - Par 63
CONDITIONS
Temp: low 70s but humid. Flooding ! Flooding! Flooding! We can't seem to get away from miserable weather on Wednesdays. Once again we skipped holes 2-4 and added the old hole 5. Most tee pads were very muddy and slick. Very tough conditions.

Jimmy McDonald & Matt Travis take second place shooting a 48 (-15). They end up splitting $56. We had a four way tie for third with teams shooting 49s. Nick Schwarz & Dave Kociuba end winning the ctp on hole 1 to take the third place honors. They end up splitting $26.

We had a tie for first with the teams shooting very nice rounds 0f 50. Cory Clements & Jake Broughton win the playoff to take the top honors and split $54. Zach Pershau & Ken Hausser settle for second and split 26 bucks. Todd Paraday & Larry Pennuto shoot a good round of 52 to take third place and they split 14 bucks.

« on: June 15, 2011, 06:23:55 AM »Paul Mac stopped in the shop about a month ago. Said he was driving by, saw the sign, and had to stop. He signed a 44 mold for us too! That was pretty cool.
Until he stopped in, I didn't know there was anyone besides Gary. Care to tell us a story about the old days Frank? I'd love to hear more about Paul and Gary...
Over 30 years ago Paul McCallister started running tournaments and promoting disc golf in the Joliet area. He created the Illinois State Disc Golf Championships. Gary eventually took over and built this area into something special. Phil Corrigan actually picked up Ed Headrick http://www.discgolfassoc.com/founder/ from the airport back in 1979 when Ed helped design West Park. These guys are why we have what we have today. The history of disc golf in Joliet is one of the longest and richest in the world!

« on: June 15, 2011, 06:16:52 AM »what do the pros usually shoot at highland on average? and what is the par gonna be for the tourny? by the way thanks alot for all the info guys.
Par for last years tournament for 24 holes was 72. This year the course will be very similar. The winner Adam Olson shot a 65 from the blue or long tees which was a 1036 rated round. He shot a 60 from the white or middle tees and that round was rated at 1045. He ended up winning by 6 strokes. This is extremely good shooting for this course.

« on: June 14, 2011, 04:56:28 AM »Hey, i want to join this doubles league, do i just show up at West Park this wednesday? I have a PDGA # and everything i just registered last week.
I've been disc'n since 2002, and have just finally decided to register.
Yes just show up at West on Wednesday and pay the $5 Am entry fee. No PDGA numbers are required. We also have three $2 50/50 ctps and a $1 ace pool.
We start sign-ups around 4:30 so try and get there early to secure your spot.
Hope to see on Wednesday.
