It's a sanctioned singles tournament. As far as donations, cash is King. We will have a raffle for gift certificates & non cash donations. A thought that I have is donating $100.00 for the raffle. My thinking is to have a big ticket item for a raffle. From my experience I have endless things from raffles that are useless to me. Cash works for everyone! The tournament will be like any sanctioned tournament, the difference is part of the entry goes to the Mission. There will be prizes & trophies. Gary Lewis will supply the merchandise. There will be free lunch & coffee. The divisions we had last year were open, advanced, advanced women, advanced grandmaster, intermediate, recreational & novice. You can check Ice Bowl 2011 for a list of current sponsors & donations. I hope this helps. Feel free to ask questions. Currently I'm consumed with getting sponsors & donations & forget the other details.
Thank You for that info Jesse! I hope we get new rule books with our memberships this year. Probably unlikely but that would be cool. I'm sure going to need one to remember all of those.
I received a combo rule book/competition manual with my renewal.
I heard about the rule changes & will get certified before the Ice Bowl? I wanted to wait for the 1st of the year. That may have been needless if Jason already has the update. I want the rule book in hand, so I'm not going through the club.
I don't Jason would want the credit but here's the story. I'm listing the Ice Bowl sponsors & gifts as I get them. Rather than make a new list every time I get sponsors, I'm modifying the current list. When I go in there it's a cluster f*#k. Notice below. The time it takes to make that readable is huge, if not forever. Jason made a spread sheet & instructed me how to use it. It's an extreme time saver. Thanks Jason!
I was delighted to meet Jacob today, 12/26/10. He was there at 9:00am & I was there at 9:30. Noticing one car in the lot, I started clearing tees on #18 & worked my way back eventually meeting him on #14. We worked our way back to #7, #8, #9, & finally #6. He mentioned the tees that were distressed. We did our best on #8 & #9. We finished at 11:00am. A big thanks to you Jacob, for your good attitude & help! Send me a personal message with how I can get in touch. Note that Jacob has been playing about 8 months. I realize there is motive, but he elected to help out with the disc golf courses. We have spirit J-Town, from unknowns!
Thanks Ryan. I don't want you to put anything on the tees, so I'm glad you didn't find anything. I already posted something about bringing yak trax & that my goal had changed to just getting the snow off the tees & not the ice. I posted it last night in courses, a reply to Jacob. I'd prefer you work with me. We have a different standard. I'll talk to you more tomorrow.
How about Sunday morning Jacob? Between 9:00 & 9:30 at Channahon. I need to shovel the tees for our doubles league.I just want to get the snow off. I think I have one other guy. I'm not sure what kind of credit I can give you, but I'll look into it. There is not much going on with the disc golf courses in the winter other than snow removal.I'll check the message board tomorrow night.
I was out today working on the tees. In short bring your yak trax. The ten I did last Sat. (the ones I looked at) are OK. The ones Dr. P did are shoveled but have about a 1/2 to 1 inch of ice. It's going to take a few days of work to get the ice off. 90% chance of snow tomorrow, Friday. I think we can get them shoveled for league. Dave K., Chris B., & Dan O. were out there playing today. I hope that's not disappointing.
If you don't know, league is at Channahon this week. I'm freed up today to work on the tees & can use some help. Get a hold of me, either call., post or personal message. Thanks
Ryan Barcas (Dr. Pepper) for shoveling the tees from the latest snow Monday night. I also want to pre thankyou for your offer for Friday. If something happens , like more snow, before Sunday, I'll be there early Sunday to get them cleaned up. Thanks Dr. Pepper.
I was working on the tees yesterday. What we have is light snow on top, crunchy snow in the middle & ice on the bottom. I was thinking about working on them after league today. I realize snow is in the foecast this week & I'll deal with that as needed.
I'm glad you feel so welcome. We have a wonderful group of people & I'm glad to be part of J-Town. We as a groups have many skills & working together we can do many good things. I wish you well Randy & pray for you.You have another battle, but like you said you can see the light at the end of the tunnel.
As the story goes, the guy that owns this house lives north of Cincinnati , Ohio .. Police were constantly being called for traffic jams and accidents in the neighborhood so they asked him to shut it down during certain hours. Instead he started charging by car load to pay off duty police to be there. The guy is supposedly a real computer GEEK, and in my opinion, also a great decorator!
Hope you enjoy this as much as I did..........Merry Christmas!!!
I need you're addresses, I have receipts for each donation. I do this routinely so I don't get bogged down at the end. This is all passed on to the Mission so they can express their gratitude. Cash is the prime gift. For those who want to give a donation of $10.00 is helpful. A hundred people is $1,000.00.
