Tournament Prep day at Highland on Friday morning
« on: April 04, 2013, 10:22:33 AM »
I will be going to Highland tomorrow morning (Friday) to do some prep work. If anyone would care to join me, I would appreciate any helping hands that show up.

Here is a short list of what I would like to get done:

1.) Shovel out the dirt and leaves that have built up on the stairways on 12, and especially 13. 15 looked fine, but I'd like to check hole 6's stairway too.

2.) Rake, or blow out the leaves along snake road so that OB is easy to determine on holes 6 and 12. If anyone has a gas powered leaf blower they could bring, that would really help.

3.) General garbage pickup through out the course. Special attention to holes 13-17. If you are out there practicing over the next two days, do me a favor and pick up a few cans or bottles as you walk. The whole disc golf community will be thankful for it.

I should be out there by 9am with my rake and shovel, and some garbage bags. If you are looking for me early, check by hole 13s stairway.

It's unfortunate but I'll be in Chicago tomorrow. Perhaps I can meet you at the train station & you can use my blower. The train leaves at 10:25am.

Kevin Schramm, Ryan Fancher, Cody Schmook, Kyle and I cleaned up a ton of trash yesterday while playing a round. Highland was pretty packed so there might be more. I'll swing by this morning to play another clean up round.

This is Awesome to see!

I remember last year at IL State the Culvert/Drain on Hole 12 was caked with mud making it very difficult to tell where the OB line was. The mud must of came out at least three feet into the culvert. I ended up shoveling it out for the J-Town Fest but it's probably pretty bad again. I'm just assuming you call this OB.

I do call that OB. I didn't get it perfect, but I did some clean up on the edges of the cement pad. The stairs on 13 were like a mud/leaf ramp, and that is all cleaned out now. The gutters around 6 and 12 were blown out to make OB lines clear. Frank Grimes took time out of his day to meet me and let me borrow his leaf blower, which was a big help. 15 was a lost cause, so there will be no OB on 15 this year.

Many people helped clean up trash the last two days. In addition to the names already mentioned, I saw Jose Hererra out there, and Joe (phriendly icculus) picking up more stray trash this morning. Thanks to everyone who helped out!
