J-Town Ice Bowl / Re: Ice Bowl Cash Results
« on: September 30, 2010, 06:15:46 PM »
Congrats J-Town! Look on page 45 of the Discgolfer Magazine. You came in 14th place in money donations for the 2010 Ice Bowls. Pretty good considering there were 222 Ice Bowls last year. Year 2010 raised the most money since the Ice Bowls began in 1987. Good job Frank and the rest of the well oiled J-Town machine!

I know Frank is part of the great J-Town Crew but I must give Frank a special Thank You for the heart and soul he continues to put into Community Park. Not to mention the 10s of thousands of dollars he spends of his own money so disc golfers can enjoy themselves on a mother nature of a course. Frank is also a very caring person and he has helped me personally at the same time he is battling cancer. Can't say enough about how lucky I am to have Frank as my friend! Keep up the good work buddy.
                                                       :)

Courses / Re: Respect...these are public parks
« on: September 22, 2010, 02:33:25 AM »
Our Park District would pull the baskets if we went against a safety issue more than once. We have been warned. Disc Golf doesn't bring in revenue for the Park District so it's real easy for them to pull the plug on disc golf. That would actually save them money by doing that. Discers must be real careful. We are almost always in a losing situation. Revenue would change their minds but can't see that happening soon.

Joe is a bomber! Just overthrew #16s basket at Eagle Ridge Wednesday. He also shot two rounds at -6 with no bogies in both those rounds! He tore me up on my home turf. Good shooting Joe! We missed Franks presence as he is a busy busy man. See you next time Frank!

I have one. I'll be at Trinity Links tonight for leagues if you want it. I'll bring it. It's brand new and I only used this model 4 or 5 times. It should do the trick.

Most people your age Frank sleep like that normally. Sleeping in is also a common thing in life. You my friend have done a superb job of beating this thing! Those numbers are awesome and I'm thrilled for you! Keep up the good work Frank. It's pretty safe to say that those prayers you have been asking for have been received. So deserving!

Courses / Re: Channahon No sod #11

You two are far too young and hip for me.
Yes Mr. Elf I believe your right. You have been around much longer then us. Let's share your history with everyone lol lol lol:
In early modern and modern folklore, Elves become associated with the fairies of the 19-century Romantic portrayal of English folklore and assume a diminutive size, often living underground in hills or rocks, or in wells and springs. 19th-century Romanticism attempted to restore them to full stature, often depicting them as very young, probably adolescent (lack of facial hair on male elves), men and women of great beauty. From their depiction in Romanticism, elves entered the 20th-century high fantasy genre in the wake of the publications of J. R. R. Tolkien, especially the posthumous publication of his Silmarillion where Tolkien's treatment of the relation of light elves, dark elves, black elves and dwarves in Norse mythology is made explicit. The elf is now-and has been for years-associated with Christmas acting as "Santa's little helpers."

I'm learning more and more about you Mr.Elf. Very interesting. lol

Leagues & Tourneys / Re: ACE RACE
« on: August 28, 2010, 07:35:53 AM »
So I am having this thought that J Town should have an Ace Race.... I have looked into it and basically the cost of the tourney is 25 - 30 dollars... everyone will get a brand new disc and play with that disc only.... The top three events will get a basket from Discraft.  The winner of the ace race will get a grand prize of a new bag and 8 new discs from Discraft.  Let me know what everyones thoughts are.  This is a good way we can Raise money for J town disc golf club.....  we bring out all of our members and I think we will be a hard event to beat.....
Good Chat
See ya out there
thor
Great idea! Shorewood would probably be a good course for a ace race. Wouldn't have to shorten the holes to much there. I'm in on that if it happens. Ace races rock.
