Friday Night Lights:

9/20 - tentatively scheduled at Channahon - 7p tee off.

Please get there early to register, put your glow lights on, etc. We need to be teeing off at 7pm to make sure we get out of the park by 10p.

10 week league
Two divisions - Pro/Adv, and Ams
PDGA sanctioned singles format
$10 per person ($5 toward payouts, $2 CTP, $1 Ace, $1 Park fee & $1 PDGA sanctioning fee)

This is a points league, with the following points awarded each week:

1st place - 4pts
2nd place - 3pts
3rd place - 2pts

Plus, everyone who plays, but doesn't place, gets 1pt for showing up.

Points will be kept separately for the Pro/Adv divisions and the AM divisions.

If 4 or more Pro/Adv players are playing, they will play against each other with a separate payout. The Ams will play against each other with their own payout pool.

If there are less than 4 Pro/Adv players, everyone will play in the same pool. Points, however, will always be kept separate for each division.

CTP's will be by division (unless there are less than 4 Pro/Adv players)

Ace fund will be for all divisions (ie: no separate fund for each division. It will be all one fund.) Ace pot will continue to grow until someone wins it. On the last week, if no one aces we will have a CTP throw off for the remaining amount.

I'll post a tentative course schedule tomorrow listing where we will play each week. Please keep in mind that this schedule may change. I am still working on getting approval to play at RBF, West Park, and Highland. If I get approval, I will work them into the schedule.

The points leader in each division at the end of 10 weeks will receive a trophy.

I will have glow lights and discs available at the park.

Before I post this on FB, is anyone from J-Town (board member or staff member (can get approved to be staff member for this event too)) going to be a part of Patrick's league and represent J-Town by selling and keeping track of bag tags for the events?

Sounds fun, Patrick!

But my work schedule prevents me from making it this Friday night!  I will keep an eye on the schedule when you get it posted and hopefully make a few nights!

The schedule is fairly well set now. If there are any changes, I will post them here. Round Barn Farm is in Manhattan (for those of you that don't know.) Any questions, please let me know.

Schedule for this Friday (Sept. 20th) has changed:

Sept 20th: Trinity - 7:30p registration, 8p Tee off

Channahon was unable to get the special permit allowing us to be in the park after dark before Friday. We should be good to go by next Friday, Sept 27th.

Also, it's supposed to rain around 6p, so I moved tee off to 8pm. It should be dry the rest of the night. Being at Trinity, we have that option since we don't have to be out of there by 10p.

See you all there!

This sounds like fun. Can't wait for this tonight. I'll be getting there early and I'll be bringing my camera to get some shots after we are done with the round. I don't want to lug it around with me the whole time.

I was able to get a few photos last night, nothing too fancy though.  It was getting late after the round was over.  I'll be taking more photos at the next one.  I posted the photos in the gallery section

We had a great first night, with 17 players showing up at Trinity to play Glow. The weather cooperated, no rain, and a nice fall temperature to play in all night. The round went a little long, taking over 3 hours to complete. We'll have to work on that to get out of Channahon on time.

Pro/Adv: Some early controversy. One player mistakenly threw from where his light hit the ground, not realizing that the disc didn't come with it. He found his disc and played it from there as a provisional. The PDGA rules require a one stroke penalty which he was assessed. In addition, there was a three way tie for first in Pro/Adv, with Clayton Drake, Eric Fite, and John Boyd each throwing a very respectable 52 in the dark. After the playoff, Clayton was in first place for $20, John Boyd took second for $10, and Eric walked away with third place and a couple points.

Ams: Mike Noe smoked the entire Am field with a red hot round of 52, matching the winning Pro round and taking home $25. A two way tie for second between Dan Wisemantle and Steve Rachan was decided by another playoff. They each shot a great round of 55. On the second hole, both players had nearly identical lies after their first shot. Dan's upshot put him right under the basket, while Steve's gave him a difficult putt from behind a few trees. Dan took the playoff on that hole, winning $15 for second place, While Steve got $10. Fourth place and $5 went to Luigi Noe with a nice round of 56.

Playoffs were decided with the usual 3 hole playoff followed by a CTP throw off on the 4th hole if necessary. Starting next week, playoffs will be decided by a one hole CTP throw off to save time.

For those of you that elected to have your rounds rated, the unofficial results are up at http://www.pdga.com/tournament_results/107560/875769111

For this Friday's Glow event, is it going to be at Channahon or Trinity?

This week, Sept 27th, will be at Channahon. I'm picking up the special permit today so we can be in the park until 10p. I've modified the schedule above to reflect the changes. We will be teeing off NO LATER than 7pm. Lost disc rules will be in effect, ie: no more than 3 minutes spent looking for a disc. Please bring a flashlight, and be prepared to play at a reasonable pace. We need to be out of the park by 10pm.

I'm really looking forward to our first night of glow at Channahon. It should be a blast playing there after dark. I know that it will still be light out when we start, but since we have to be out of the park by 10p, we really don't have any choice. I've played thru the transition from dusk to dark before and it shouldn't present any problems.

Hope to see you all there!

More great news! I have received permission from Manahattan Park District to add Round Barn Farm to our Glow League schedule. I have modified the schedule above to reflect the changes. This is a great course for glow golf!

Your doing awesome Pat, keep it up! Quick question though, is it a straight $10 or can you opt out of the extras (CTP, Ace, Sanctioning)?

$10 straight up, no options. Makes record keeping a lot easier. You can opt to not have the round sanctioned, but it's still $10.

See you out there!

The course looked amazing Friday night! Great night for glow golf. Only 10 players showed up.....players getting their sleep before the Channahon Classic? We put the Pro/Adv field and Am field together so the Pros wouldn't be shooting against each other in a field of 3. Play moved along quickly, with two groups done by 9:15p, and the final group coming in about 9:35p or so.

Pro/Adv (3players): Bobby Johnson threw a smoking round of 45 (-9) to take first place overall, taking home $25, plus $6 for the Pro CTP. He gets 4 points to add to his total. Clayton Drake shot a 54, taking 2nd in the Pro/Adv field for 3 points.

Ams (7 players): Dan Wisemantle shot a fantastic round of 50 (-4) to take top honors in Ams, and second overall for $15. AJ Banaski was right on his heels at 51 (-3) to take 2nd in AMs, 3rd overall for $10. Rico Lopez rounded out the AM field with a 57 (+3) getting 2 points for the night. Dan Czempinski took the Am CTP for $14, plus he aced hole 7 for another $27!
