Lost & Found / Re: Found your disc?
« on: August 19, 2010, 12:59:13 AM »
We are the lost & found for Fox Valley Metro Disc Golf Club.  Members find disc of other members & the disc get turned into us.  The disc sit in the van till members come and get them.  Blaine always gives a disc to people to get a lost disc back.  He also keeps a box of disc in the van to hand out to people that are playing that look new to the game usually dads with there kids.

This is sad News.  Would suggest a Summit of Brother Disc Golfer's to create a stir at least.  My suggestion is that we pull together our North South East and West Club's and start a petition to save or create another stomping ground in the area.

25 Preregister and 51 walk up.  Sorry we had to turn some away due to the venue being maxed out.  This was a very great day for disc golf power.  Disc players from north, south, east and west came together to Blow this Event out of the Box.  Beautifully run by Scott Pitner at the helm and behind the scenes action by Mr. mike Krupicka, Aaron Scott and Christie Schepp who ran the tables and handled all the paperwork that made the day run smoothly.  Huge thanks to the grounds crew who showed up 5 cars deep at 6:30 am ready for action.  Weeks prior to event Ron Miller led course condition program with the help of many Members who frequent the Jericho site to assure everyone had clear pad conditions.  Held garbage clean up during Tag's witch was no easy task,  great job by many hands overall.  Special shout out to Mr. Randy Moore Sr. who pushed this event to huge levels with all  his donation gathering expertise.  Lastly I would like to thank all who came out to enjoy the brotherhood of discgolf.   Saw many familiar faces and met many new people this weekend and that is why I love this game.  Great group of folks in our community of disc.  Thanks for your support.

Blaine was not in playing mode yesterday ..... he was on cloud 9 with a smile on his face with the success of this event.  I kept telling him to concentrate on the game - to no avail! whatever, he was so happy that so many people came out to support the Hesed House & even more over the moon of all the support from the FVMDGC family members.  I will try to list all of the hands that made this a beautiful event (hopefully I won't leave anyone out, since there were so many Fox Valley hands at work).

Thank you to Sr. for gathering so many sponsors.

Lets just go with I'm starting all sentences with Thank you...

Scott Pitner for being the TD & suppling everyone with a store to shop in

Aaron Scott......beautiful trophy's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fox Valley members that helped clean up the course before the event (many members!)...Thank you to John Hoffman for the heads up last week that the course needed a spit shine (we moved bag tags to Jericho to kill 2 birds with one stone - tags & clean up!)

FV members that cleared the tee pads from the snow & ice (George, Jim Mendoza, Ron Miller, Tafe) I'm sure more helped

AM crew during ice bowl - showed up at 6:30 to put out sponsor signs, unload Scott's store, & handled many other little details.  (Bob Hartman, Robby Hartman, Jake Rieser, Kyle Chapman, John Cleavland,.Glenn Gruenke, George)  - Thank you for the bonfire!!!!!

Tyler Williams - Wonderful Chili , I made myself a bowl this year (b4 it was all gone)  Thank you!!  I know you did much more with all the treasurers duties also, Thank you.

Mike Krupicka, you made the leader board look too easy, the way you handled it (shuffling the cards as they came in).  Also, thank you for signing up all of the new members.

Aaron also handled the Mulligan's & raffle (and much more).

Thank you to George for helping with the beginning (setup), middle (bag tags), & end (clean up).

Thank you to Tom McManus for supplying us with an additional basket so we could add a extra hole!+

So many members were helping the entire day (6:30 am till 6:30 pm) that all I can say is "Thank You FVMDGC!"

Everywhere I looked members were pitching in to help where help was needed, what a proud day for FVMDGC!

also a thanks to my coworker Syed for coming out in the morning to help unload - he has gone out to play some rounds casually with coworkers, but wanted to see what some of the better players could do.  He was quite impressed!

So who is ready to start taking sponsorships for next year? lol!

I also want to add another thanks to Glenn for helping out with the putting contest. I actually got to play in it this year!
The winner of this event was Aaron Scott who got thru station #6 followed by Ron Bredenitz who beat Ray Eswuivel in a playoff for second place. They both got thru station #4.
And don't forget the SCHEPPS! They were there from sunup till sundown helping out with this event. You two do more behind the scenes stuff that no one really knows about or realizes. THANK YOU!!!!

Great work from all of the Fox Valley crew for the Ice Bowl.  So many of you put your heart, soul, shovels, mouths, behnds and skills into this event.  You could not control the weather and got a perfect day considering it was February.  Minimal wind, bright sunshine and temperatures that were easily controlled with proper clothing and hand warmers.  Your efforts getting sponsors, feeding us lunch, cleaning tee pads, creating signs and creating a generally good atmosphere were tremendous.  Great work guys and gals.  I think we all came home smelling like a campfire and smiling about it.

Awesome job guys everything seemed to run so smoothly and I had a GREAT time, I picked a really winner for my first tournament.  Hopefully next time I won’t miss a 12 foot put in a playoff though.

Those steps are already made.  The rebar & steps were out by 14's hill for awhile.  I don't know if John Tiffany or Mike Fee took them for safe keeping (one of them did),  They are the same steps as #12 going to #13.

I just walked with the people that placed the tees (no clue on my part).  Tom Betsinger had called us to inform us someone was cutting down trees (I've seen no evidence of this).  He wants us to mention again at our club meeting that we as a club are not to alter the course.  I don't know what kind of work you are thinking of doing but I know you have a "in" with Mike Fee.  Can you let Blaine know what Mike Fee is willing to let you do if you plan on doing anything?  I just want to be prepared if I get another call from the park district.

Thank you,

Eagle Ridge Longs are set in Stone!
30 days from first phone call to Mr. Mike Fee making this happen.  Thanks to the grounds Crew.

The 14th of November I called together and organized a walk through with John Tiffany to mark out  the longs.  The last club meeting I brought up that I wanted to move forward with this project and push for placing stone immediately.  The subject was pushed and a committee was formed.  Delay in forward progress so I pulled the trigger.  Communication with the Park District gave me no time to sit on this.  Mike Fee made it clear that if we wanted to move forward now was the time due to man power availability and bad weather coming soon.  Like to thank again Mr. Mike Fee for pushing forward and surgically placing the stone on all 17 long placements (#9 long in place already).  The ground crew is amazing and how they did all that work without ripping up the course is beyond my understanding.  Oswego Park District continues to improve the Eagle Ridge Park and I as a FVMDGC member appreciate all that they do.  Side note the ball started rolling with this project October 26th when I called Tom Betsinger and Mike Fee to ask if we could move forward with the longs.

Members in attendance:  John Tiffany, Blaine Schepp, Aaron Scott, Mike Krupicka, Gary Camp, Jason Poole,

All long locations stay the same except the following:

Hole #1 shortend 15' and slightly closer to scrub to the track side.

Hole #3 35' longer

Hole #4 15 ' longer

Hole #8 (west)right 40' same distance

Hole #11 7' longer

Hole #12 20' (south)left and 10 feet longer

Hole #14 50' longer
