Leagues & Tourneys / 38th Illinois State Disc Golf Championships
« on: June 18, 2020, 04:44:58 PM »
In a time when we really need some positive news, I am happy to announce that the 38th Illinois SDGC is back on this year!
After careful reconsideration, the event will now take on a much safer structure. The 38th Illinois State Disc Championships will now be a two-day tournament. Each division will now play one round each day with scheduled tee times instead of our usual “shotgun” format, providing safety for our players and staff. We also encourage all players and staff to follow all current guidelines wherever possible including wearing safety masks, practicing social distancing and using hand sanitizers. The coronavirus has turned things upside down for the whole disc golf community and we feel this new tee time format will be a safe way for all players and staff this year.
I want to personally thank Jason Poole, Leo Borowski, Sean Callahan, Thor Batchelor, Ryan Fancher, Mike Krupicka, Anthony Rodriguez, Dale DelSasso, Paul McCallister & Gary Lewis for never giving up on this historical Illinois' event. It's incredible to witness the amount of passion they have to make this tournament as safe and successful as possible.
More information will be coming out shortly. Thank you for your understanding and we look forward to seeing you on the course.

Second Half #13
West Park • Joliet, IL

TEES
18 holes • White Tees • Red Pins

CONDITIONS
Last night was another picture perfect night with the temps in the low 80s with dew points in the low 50s. Early on the winds were  blowing out of the SW at around 15mph. The wind direction changed throughout the night at by the end it wa blowing out of the NW at around 12-14 mph. The course was mostly dry and great shape.

NOTES
• Point season is over

LAST CHANCE WEDNESDAY at TRINITY
We will continue league with one more week on Wednesday October 2 with a twist.
1. No Points
2. One Division
3. $10 entry • $20 All in includes Ace//Four 50/50 CTPS and the CFR CTP
Registration will start at 4:00pm and we will draw cards at 4:50 pm
League ace money will carry over to this night. If no one hits on this night then the ace money will carry over to the J-Town Fest on Saturday October 26 at Trinity.

• Paula “Momma Borowski” Borowski  and Jamie “JamieMac” McDonald shoot an amazing round of 54. These ladies have been playing exceptionally well all year and they have been on fire these last few weeks. Thanks for coming out all year.

• We had a tie with the teams shooting ridiculous rounds of 37 (-17). Tom ‘MMMM” Matesevac and Dave “Jumpy” Hopkins win the fierce playoff in the dark and claim first place for the night. With this last week of the season win, Tom jumps three spots and grabs the fourth and final cash spot for the second half. Unreal!

• Taking the victory outright with an incredible round of 40 were Kurtis “Ponyboy Kurtis” Simonich and Joey “The Ruler” Pharo. This last minute win has catapulted Kurtis all the way to first place for the second half and he also jumps two spots and takes second place overall. What a massive win for Kurtis! Great Shooting!

SPOILER ALERT! That’s right, when you don’t have a chance in placing in the first half, second half or overall then we play spoiler. The main goal of a spoiler is preventing the contenders from receiving extra points.

• Shout out to Petey Wilson on hitting an ace on a ctp hole!

• Unbelievable a 38 (-16) doesn’t cash in the Pro/Adv. Is it West Park or the skill level or is it a combination of both. I’d say skill level is high. Sorry Marc!

• All Am money ctp sweep!

Once again we had a lot of spoilers this week making the last week extremely interesting and intense for the leaders.
1 Week left and there is still a lot to decide.

• Paula “Momma Borowski” Borowski  and Jamie “JamieMac” McDonald shoot a fantastic round of 56 (+2). They probably would of shot under if the darkness didn’t get them on hole 17. This round was 9 strokes better then last year’s winning Women’s Division team when we played Trinity in week 24. Their improvement is incredible!

• Shooting fantastic round of 40 (-14) in the Pro/Adv Division were Matt “Big C” Coyne and Nick “Beam” Austin. Nick has only played three of the last four weeks and he has won twice and he has taken second in the other. Nick is playing great golf right now. Also with this win Matt makes a huge jump and he sits only one point out of a top four finish for the second half.

• We had three way tie for first in the Am/Nov Division with the teams shooting great rounds of 45 (-9) and several of the top guys on the leaderboard fighting for extra points. In the end Pete “Pistol Petey” Wilson and Sean “Seany” Cunningham win the intense playoff on the fourth and final hole. With this huge win Sean jumps into first place alone for the second half. Pete makes a huge move but he might fall a little short of a top four finish for the second half.

• Trinity Links has come a long way these last few years. A huge THANK YOU goes out to all the people who have busted their ass working on this course

• Thanks to the Taco lady for feeding us all year.

• Shout out to Zach “ZMac” McDonald on hitting an ace on a ctp hole!

CONDITIONS
It was a beautiful hot humid September night. The temperature rose to the low 90s and the dew points were in the mid to high 70s. Warm winds were out of the SW at around 9 mph with gusts into the high teens, but as the round went on so did the wind, dropping into the single digits. By the end of the round the temps dropped into the low 80s but the high humidity was still present. Sweat was definitely flowing but it was a perfect night for disc golf. The course looked beautiful and is in great shape.

2 Weeks left and there is still a lot to decide.

• Anthony “The Salesman” Noe and Billy “The Boy Wonder” Wunder shoot and amazing round of 39 (-15) and easily take the victory in the Pro/Adv Division. Billy makes a big jump in the points standings and keeps himself alive for a top four finish for the second half. It was good to see Anthony back out at league doing damage.

• We had an intense playoff in the dark in the Am/Nov Division. Ultimately Tom “Gronk” Gronski”  and Joey “The Ruler” Pharo win the night and split 62 bucks. They shot a great round of 44 (-10) and tack on four huge points to their totals. Tom keeps himself alive in the second half standings but more importantly he now jumps into third place alone in the overall standings. Joey keeps himself in the conversation for the second half and overall standings.
