New for 2013: Frequent Player Rewards program! Players that play 4 or more of our IOS events will receive a custom bag tag and all AM's will also receive $20 player packs instead of $15 player packs! Thanks for playing at the Illinois Open Series!
I'm currently looking at ordering a large quantity of disc golf bins. They are the same ones that I use at my IOS tournaments. Is anybody interested in joining in with me on an order? They run $20 per bin. Local pickup/delivery only right now. The thing that I love about these bins is that I've been using them since October 2009, and I haven't needed to replace a single one yet. I'm ordering because I have a lot of discs sitting loose or in boxes or my older plastic bins that like to break. I also know that a lot of people would be interested in something to help store your discs or transport it around.
One of these bins holds 42 drivers or 34 mids. I didn't count how many it would hold if it was just putters - probably around 28-30. No lids, but I have stacked them 7-8 high comfortably.
Bin dimensions are 11" wide x 10" tall x 24" long.
IOS #53 - The Manhattan Open October 13th-14th, 2012 Round Barn Disc Golf Course - Manhattan, IL
We have reached an agreement with the Manhattan Park District to bring the final IOS to a hot new course in Manhattan, IL! Come on out and play this brand new, great course. Designed by Windy City Course Design (Brett Comincioli), if you've enjoyed playing some of the temp holes at IOS tournaments, you'll love playing this event!
MPO/MA2/MA4 will play on Saturday All other divisions Sunday
Pro's $50 AM's $30
2 rounds of 18 holes to the RED baskets. Right now I'm probably not going to add any temp holes because the design of the course is such that it fills the available land quite well, and anything that we add would just be a chump hole. I don't want to add a temp basket just for the sake of adding a temp basket.
It will be 2 rounds of 20 or 21 holes. Huge thanks to John McGowan, Fred Vroman, and Dag Grada for their help in getting this course in awesome state! They even cut out a triple-mando clown-type temp hole for this event!
Pre-registration is now online for the Discraft One-Disc Ace Race! It will take place Saturday August 4th at Eagle Ridge in Oswego, IL. A great relaxing and enjoyable time shared by all! It's only $25 to play, and you get $50 worth of stuff in your player pack! 2 prototype Discraft discs plus a bunch of other cool swag. The official list will be released later!
PLEASE NOTE: We are closing pre-registration TWO WEEKS before the event! We have to order no later than 2 weeks before the Ace Race, so be sure to sign up! We will order some extras for the people that come out that day to sign up, but if we run out, we cannot let you play! Pre-register to GUARANTEE A SPOT. Checkin will start at 8:30 AM, and the discs will be available on a first come, first serve basis. You will be allowed to practice with your discs until a 10 AM tee off. We will allow for a rotating tee time start since this is a more relaxed event. I'll probably let people start up until as late as 11 AM, but I strongly feel that we are going to sell out this year and will have everyone going by 10:30. It only takes about 90 minutes to walk the course twice!
A great event fill with lots of trash talking and cheering! I'll see you there!!!
I will be at Jericho Lake in Aurora Saturday, July 14th set up with merch and the full spread of stuff in case you are looking to pick up something new or need to spend your reward dollars! Pre-register for the Ace Race or for Marengo while you're there as well
I'll have a basket set up for some free putting lessons, but that's more for the newbies that would be out there
Co-worker of mine gave me an article today that was featured in the Naperville Sun. It features quotes from Cathy Kamm, Blaine Schepp and Ray Hill. It also has some file photos featuring Ron Miller and David Scott
The 49th IOS and first of the 2012 season will take place the first weekend of May (5th-6th) in Channahon, IL. Come on out and participate in this Pro C/Am-B Tier event as we remember my dad at The Dave Pitner Memorial.
Open, Intermediate, and Novice divisions play on Saturday. All other Divisions play Sunday.
Pre-Reg closes THURSDAY night, sorry, no exceptions!
Please note the NEW CHECK-IN AND PLAYER MEETING TIMES - 7:30-8:30 check-in, player meeting at 8:45! This should get everyone started in their rounds about 30 minutes sooner, and that means that you can get home just that much sooner!
Due to the Indiana States on Sunday within 50 miles of West Park - we are going to run all divisions on a SINGLE DAY. That means we max at 125 players, no exceptions! 1st round shorts, 2nd round longs.
FREE TO PRE-REGISTER We're going to try something slightly different for the pre-registration this time. To get in for this tournament, you don't have to pay ahead of time! You can go through www.paperorplasticsports.com to fill out the registration form. You just need to give me your name, PDGA #, and what division you will play. That will get you on the list.
At the tournament: Entry fee will be $30 for AM's, $50 for Pro's, $20 for Juniors. No $5 walk-up fee! Trophy only will be available for $20, 1/2 in Pro's for $25.
BONUS: AM's that want to play both weekends, August 14th and August 21st, just pay $50, and you get to play both tournaments - that's $10 off! You still get the same player pack, same amount added to payouts, all that great stuff! This is just added incentive to come on out and play these IOS events. Sorry about all the changes we've had to make! This discount will not be available for Trophy Only or for Pro's, sorry!

Yes, there is a back to back weekend. Hamilton's A-Tier was moved to be a B-Tier and in September, so that weekend became available - and I was already going through debates on what course to choose for #6 - so we just decided to do both
I don't normally like to spam the boards about my eBay store, but since I'm actually running some auctions for some cool discs, I thought I'd inform everyone since I'm expecting these to be gone by this time next week.
It's an ugly link, but it will show you all of my current auctions up there for about 15 or 16 Pro Worlds Star Katana - that's all that I have left. Once sold, I have no more.
I also have 8 or 9 very uniquely colored Star Ontario Rocs available at auction. They are from the 2009 Joliet Championships -and if you don't like the stamp just remove it. They are VERY cool looking, for example:
That's not a dyed disc - that's what colors they put in the disc - really cool looking!
Thanks for checking out the auctions and supporting a local disc vendor, Scott
The divisions are split as follows: Open, Intermediate, and Novice are on Saturday. Everybody else plays Sunday. Full tournament details can be found by going to the tournament information and registration link at the above page.

The Dave Pitner Memorial - May 1st-2nd, 2010 B-TIER
This event was formerly the Irish You the Best of Luck tournament held in March. 3 years ago, while running the first "Irish" tournament (held in Elk Grove Village), I received a phone call to immediately go to the hospital because my dad (Dave Pitner) had suffered a heart attack. I arrived at the hospital and found out that he was dead upon arrival. The following year the event was moved to Channahon - a larger venue for a larger tournament. Now the event has moved to the month of May for the warmer weather and his birthday was in May. He was a Christian, a disc golfer, a former volunteer fireman, a computer systems programmer, and a great dad.
David Scott Pitner - May 11, 1959 - March 3, 2007, died at the age of 47.
