did you know that West Park used to be Bush Farms.  After years of it being a farm it was left to Joliet to become Bush Park.  Bush Park is now known as West Park

Questions? / Tee Signs at Round Barn
« on: August 21, 2018, 08:48:07 AM »
To the members of J Town Disc Golf Club.
Over the years J Town Disc Golf Club has spent money to help with course improvements.  Highland Park seems to be the main course that gets the most love, which in my opinion is the right course to put money into.    I am looking to start improving Round Barn Farm in Manhattan and the course needs tee signs.   I do understand that the course is not the most popular course but it is a course that J Town uses in singles play, doubles play, tournaments, and casual rounds.   Below is what I have priced out for the cost of the materials.

18 tee signs.
18 signs x $40 = 720
18 -4x4x10 ft #2 pressure treated lumber x $10.17 $183.06
54 bags of concrete x $6.59 = 355.86

The grand total to put the signs in and I will volunteer the labor will be $1,258.92.  Now if you have any ideas on how to do this cheaper I am all ears and willing to work with who ever to get them done as cheap as possible and installed by the end of September.   If you have any questions please feel free to ask questions.

Thanks,

Thor Batchelor

« on: August 24, 2016, 07:28:44 AM »
October 22nd and 23rd I will be setting up a temp course at Heritage Park which is the old woodbine golf course.  The course will only be up for this weekend and hopefully with a big turn out will be put in the ground permanently next year.   Spread the word and lets get a huge turn out at this event.

Shitty Luck Story.  Scotty Coyne and myself went out to Highland to clear the tree that fell on Hole 15.  Getting Scott's Truck stuck going into Snake road should have been a sign but we got it unstuck and down snake road.  After 3 hours of running the chainsaws the tree was cleared up and Scotty needed to get his truck out of snake road and got stuck again.  This time there was no getting him unstuck, he had to run out to the main road and flag down a big truck to come help him get out.  He got out but it only took us an extra hour, and he wouldn't let me drink beer during this time.

you want to hear a shitty luck story. Tom M, Lefty Al, Tony P and myself decide to stop at highstand on the way back from Sandy Point.  I hit a tree in the middle of the fairway and shot about 320 feet down a hill through the thick thick shit.  Tony P finds my disc and I am looking up hill at about 200 feet of forest to get back to the basket.  I took a 7 and got poison everything on me.  Shitty Luck
