Leagues & Tourneys / Re: Attention PDGA Members
« on: January 04, 2012, 01:14:37 PM »
It's a lot easier for everyone: players and tournament staff, if players re-up their PDGA membership at least a week before the event. This allows time for the PDGA to process it and get it updated in their database prior to the event.

Knowing how much work it is to TD events (and do them well), my intention is not to give you grief or criticize your decisions. I'm merely want to help educate and make sure misinformation is not floating out there.

btw The rating stuff I can make sense of, but that is because I've been following this for years back when more of the tidbits of the rating system were public.

Thanks for expending the effort to put on events. It's not an easy job.

I just saw this. Thor, your comments about the rating system are not accurate. There is no minimum number of tournaments, high rated rounds are never dropped, and unfortunately the PDGA office does nothing if someone plays in the wrong division unless some complains about it. LoPresti was rated 921 as of 11/22/11. If he was allowed to play Rec at your tournament, that was a mistake and should not have occurred.

While the TD is generally held responsible by the players to enforce division guidelines and a good TD does his best to enforce them to keep his players happy, the responsibility for a player playing in the correct division rests solely on the player's shoulders (see the competition manual section 2.1). If someone complains to the PDGA about a player playing in the wrong division, it is will be the player that receives the disciplinary action.

IOS #4 @ Jericho Lake, Aurora, IL--8/13 and 8/14 2011

Pro C-Tier / Am B-Tier

2 Rounds of 22 Holes
1st round shorts, 2nd round longs

MPO/MA2/MA4 on Saturday. All other divisions on Sunday.

Pre-Registration is OPEN:
http://illinoisopenseries.com/preregister-ios-4

IOS Series Information:
www.illinoisopenseries.com

We are going to play two rounds of 22 holes. A course map can be found here:

The exact location of the first temp hole is subject to change as the soccer fields were not lined when we were out there. We will most likely use a temp location for hole 17 as indicated on the map. This is to bring some of the swamp out of play.

Please pre-register. Only divisions that have at least two entrants pre-registered will have trophies. An exception is made for the Junior divisions. Trophies will be made for any junior division where there is at least one pre-registered.

Online registration closes at noon on Friday. Register here: illinoisopenseries.com

I got to throw a few holes with Dana Friday when I was out getting the course setup. I can see why he took the win at this event. Great job Dana.

I think I finally got all of the post-tournament work done for this one. I need to improve a couple behind the scenes items to make it run smoother for me. Continuous improvement. Events like this are a lot of work. I appreciate all of the help (Tom, Brett, Dave, Dave, and Aaron) I had in setting up/taking down the temp holes and taking care of other little items that just make things run more smoothly.

I've gotten a couple of comments that people really like the hole changes between rounds. That was the work of some of the local players: Rod, Kris, and ... I actually have no idea who else helped here. It was something that I knew was going to happen, got done, and I didn't have to worry about it. Thanks guys! You have a beautiful course that I wish was about an hour closer to my house.

I appreciate the rest of the tournament staff (Jon, Becky, Scott). It is a team effort. Thanks for being part of the team.

Special thanks to our sponsors:
Discontinuum - $500, fly pads, temp baskets
Fade Gear - $200, four pairs of straps
ABC Discs - CTPs

A couple of other house keeping items.
There were a couple of three legged stools left behind by players. Send me a PM if you think it might be yours.

I'm already thinking about next year and how to improve things.

But until then, IOS #4 is next weekend (8/13-14)  in Aurora. We'd love to see you all come out. Get your pre-reg in!

Online pre-registration closes at NOON on Friday July 29th. (We'll be out at the course and won't have net access). Since we are limiting the field to four-somes, there is a very good change that this event will fill. Please pre-register.
