Friday,June 7th, that's almost two weeks, I'd like to do as small retaining wall, with treated 6x6, behind #15 tee & then start on clearing out the erosion on the steps.
We have our first donation/sponsor, and it's none other than (drum roll please......)
Frank Grimes!
Thank you from the bottom of my heart Frank for getting it started. I very much appreciate it! I'll be mailing you a letter from the ABTA that you can use at tax time to keep "the man" off your back.
To everyone else - I'm hoping to get item donations as well, so if you've got some collector plastic just sitting around, or basically anything that a disc golfer might cherish as a CTP prize, or for the raffle, please don't hesitate to donate it to this good cause. I'm hoping to have 20 CTPs for the second round that players can buy into for $3 each, or all in for $25-$35 depending on what items we get.
And, of course, we can always use cash donations (ie: checks made out to the ABTA).
You are welcome, I hope it works out well. I know what effort it takes to raise money.
I am, of course, looking for both cash and item donations for this tournament. Cash donations will go directly to the American Brain Tumor Association. Item donations will be used for special second round CTPs, and if we get enough of them I'll have a raffle as well. I've attached a Powerpoint flyer that you can use to get donations if you are so kind.
Can a donation be mailed in? A check mailed to American Brain Tumor Association?
Was out practicing the temps before the tournament and turned one over into the flooded area to the right of hole 21, the last temp hole coming back towards the baseball field. It was a maroon/copper Westside Giant. Did not have my name on it yet. I went in there after the tournament to try and find it, but aside from several large carp and a few more colorful drivers (which were returned), I did not find anything else. Water was too murky to look for a darker disc like the Giant.
I don't come down there too often. If someone finds it after the water receeds, I would like to get it back. I actually was really liking that disc.
I was out there today with the cart & traveled as close to the water as I could & didn't see anything. Being it's not a very common area, we may be able to find it before the grass gets high.
That's great Gibby. When I called everyone I was asked if they could come earlier so they could make tags. So 0845, just come down to the path coming from 12s basket. I already called Hose-Bee.
Things went well today. There were some unknowns that we took care of. A special thanks to Shawn Harmon, Shawn McCarthy, Gibby, Hose-Bee, & Jason Poole was a pleasant surprise. You guys were Great!!! Hole 6's basket is still under water. I did not get to #17 or #18 & assume they're OK. We still have #15 to clean up, but it's playable. I'll be out there most of next getting ready for Scott's tournament. Any help will be welcome. I have Shawn McCarthy so far.
I got calls from Shawn Harmon, & Ryan Fancher. We're going to meet at noon tomorrow, 04/30. We need to pick up #6 & the fairway on #15. I'd like to also spread wood chips where needed.
I have added a notification on this thread to now email me anytime someone replies to this thread so that I don't miss it Wish you had PM'd me, Frank!
Actually that post was universal. I thought of you at the end of the post. My thought was it gave you a chance to meet some of the park people. Not a big deal. There is water at the base on #6. My guess it will be gone by tournament time. We'll see how it is for handicap tomorrow evening.

This is the latest information that I have from the park district. We'll probably know by Monday what will happen. I'm currently investigating potential alternate locations where we might be able to move the tournament to should we be told that we can't go forward.
"A crew of people will be at the park Saturday morning to continue with the cleanup. Lots of standing water with large carp and catfish swimming around and the parks dept have seen numerous snakes! Until the park officially opens back up, I won't be able to tell you if the tournament can be played. The parks dept are hoping to get back to the course today or tomorrow."
It's interesting what I see, & what's being related to Scott, relative to Community Park & the Disc Golf course. My best guess is I'm being talked to in code. I think they want the disc golf community to come out & help clean the park, like we did for the Ice Bowl. I told them I could get help for the course, but not the park. There are soccer & baseball people that can help. Other than the water & the bridge, the course is in good shape. The park superintendent said he wasn't on the course, he's looking at other parts of the park. It would be very nice if some would come out Saturday. It would say something if you came out Scott. I'll call a couple of guys. The water keeps going down.
I made a couple of calls, Shawn Harmon, Shawn McCarthy, Hose-Bee, & maybe Ish, are going to help me Saturday morning. Harmon's bringing his waders & fishing pole.

Community Park is still closed & I doubt it will be open soon. The creek that runs through #1 & #2 is flooded #2's basket is under water. The water on the hill on #4 is at the bottom, so that's down a lot. Rain is in the forecast for Tuesday, so we'll wait & watch.
The water is receding nicely. I was able to see the castle blocks on the wall on #2. That tells me the wall withstood the storm, not like last time. I can use a hand Saturday morning, putting the bridge back coming from #12. Probably around 9:00am.
