J-Town Disc Golf Club / Re: Weekly Bag Tag Challenge
« on: April 19, 2013, 04:04:35 PM »
Due to Community Park being flooded, bag tags will be at Highland Park tomorrow.  Saturday 4-20-2013.  We will play Community Park 4-27-2013 if the park is reopened and playable.
To get an idea how high the water is, it breached the banks of the I & M canal, I55 was flooded & closed between I80 & rt.6, water was just below the base on basket #4. Good bye bridge  :(

I'll see you guys tomorrow.  ;D
Keep smiling Hose-bee. I'll be there, but it may be too wet to work. I think we may have to set up another day. If you want, send me a personal message with your number, & I'll call you. I'll get it on my phone.

It was indeed too wet today. The rescheduled date is Tues (4/23). Around Noonish.
Yes, noon Tuesday. We need to get the cart back in around 3:00pm, so we'll have about 3 hrs. Handicap is at Channahon that day, so if anyone wants to get there early it will be welcome. It was quite flooded today, it's uncertain how it will be for tags Saturday.

Just let me know what day and the time and I'll try to make it out.  :)
Instead Wed. the 17th, lets do it Thurs. the 18th. I think you're right, you don't want to be tired for doubles. Will 09:30am work?  This is an open invitation, anyone is welcome.

Thanks for asking Jesse. I'm feeling no worse than flat. It seems that I have a hormone dysfunction. I'm still getting hot flashes & meet with an endocrinologist Thursday. That's a hormone Dr. I'm not sure what's up with the brain tumor. My guess is the side effects are minimal like slight headaches, so it's not of great concern at this time. Something is going on, I hope we can find it & treat it.
Regardless of the bumps in the road, I'll be moving forward, Randy Moore is watching me  ;)

I will be going to Highland tomorrow morning (Friday) to do some prep work. If anyone would care to join me, I would appreciate any helping hands that show up.

Here is a short list of what I would like to get done:

1.) Shovel out the dirt and leaves that have built up on the stairways on 12, and especially 13. 15 looked fine, but I'd like to check hole 6's stairway too.

2.) Rake, or blow out the leaves along snake road so that OB is easy to determine on holes 6 and 12. If anyone has a gas powered leaf blower they could bring, that would really help.

3.) General garbage pickup through out the course. Special attention to holes 13-17. If you are out there practicing over the next two days, do me a favor and pick up a few cans or bottles as you walk. The whole disc golf community will be thankful for it.

I should be out there by 9am with my rake and shovel, and some garbage bags. If you are looking for me early, check by hole 13s stairway.
It's unfortunate but I'll be in Chicago tomorrow. Perhaps I can meet you at the train station & you can use my blower. The train leaves at 10:25am.

Hey guys im from the schaumburg area but I like to play the j-town courses and was curious about your bag tag challenge. Would I be able to get in? and How exactly does it work. Thanks
That's Great! You can see the schedule on the left side of the screen. The handicap is also for tags. Simply buy a tag for $15.00 & show up. Saturday is scratch play & Tuesdays is handicap. You need to play three rounds to establish a handicap average. That play is free, although you can get in the ace & ctp funds. For $1.00 you're round will be sanctioned & reported to PDGA for a rating.

I finally go the last of the donations. First I want to say this is about our club & our community, helping others. Every dollar counted, & thanks to all to put us currently in 2ND place with $9,332.00. When that article was written, I mentioned to Terri along with the board we'd be around $9,000.00. I guess she didn't believe me & said over $8,000.00. That's true. I'm not sure if y'all know the impact, but it's a big deal! The first year, $3,559.00, 2ND $5,700, 3rd $8,600.00, & this year $9,332.00. I'm not sure where will end up. It seems top five.  Thanks for the post from the Herald, Ray. Everyone in our club can brag!

PS Along with all this, I think J-Town won it's first club challenge, you go J-Town!!!

Congrats to J-Town.  It was a pleasure playing today with Dave K and Randy. It was great that Frank walked most of the round with us.
You're one of the exceptional people Tom. Thanks for spear heading the club challenge.

A bomb was dropped on me two weeks ago with brain cancer. Needless to say I've been extremely anxious. Not being contacted by the neurosurgeon, & curious I picked up my records. I have a tumor in my pituitary gland, 1.2 cm, just under 1/2". Reading about it, says it's most likely noncancerous. That's huge! A pituitary tumor is an abnormal growth in the pituitary gland, the part of the brain that regulates the body's balance of hormones. I'm curious if the 2 1/2 years of hormone therapy relates to this tumor? It's interesting how fixing one problem, creates another. Randy Moore knows what I'm talking about.
You're support is huge!!! Most will have their family & friends. I'm blessed with the Disc Golf community, plus my family & friends!!!

I'll be counting on you Chango, also Mike. I can use you guys at Highland, & I want to finish the gravel in front of the tees at Channahon. There is always stuff coming up. I want to put a finish on the benches. You're a couple of good guys, with good friends. It's easy to see you're related to Jesse.

Thank You's / Re: Thanks to Innova!!
« on: March 07, 2013, 08:05:24 PM »
Here's a different kind of thank you!

First the background:  For Christmas, I got a flag pole for my front yard!  I have wanted one of these telescopic flag poles for years now.

In addition to flying an American flag, I also have a Cubs flag (sorry Frank!).  I also wanted a "disc golf" flag.  Didn't really matter what type but I started looking for an Innova flag that would work.

These proved to be very difficult to find.  On a whim and after searching since the first of the year, I decided to email the company.

Early afternoon I got a reply from David Shope in customer service telling me that they have a flag that should work nicely.  I sent an email back telling him that would be awesome and in addition to my address what would the charge be??

2 hours later he replied saying it was on it's way to me and there would be no charge!

I replied back letting him know I'd send a pic or two of it once I get it in the ground this spring!

I don't throw Innova plastic exclusively, I'll throw anything that works for me!  Nonetheless, pretty cool gesture on Innova's part.  Just wanted to share that with my disc golf fam!!
Ouch! I'll bring the Sox flag!

Hey guys I was out with my brother at channahon today cleanings pads and benches and ended up losing two discs (both were unmarked :/) I lost my blue proto d1 on hole 14 and my black tern on hole 5/6. If you anyone happens to find either of them I would appreciate it if you let me know, thanks. Also, my sister in law, Brittany, lost a pink gold line saint at hole 12. Thanks for reading, hope to hear back. Channahon pads and benches are immaculate! Come get your rounds in!!! ;D
Good job Chango!   ;)
