WEEK 4 - April 27, 2011
First Half #4
Community Park - Channahon, Illinois
18 Holes - Short Tees - Par 54 Did not play hole #6 because the basket was surrounded by a foot of water. Put in temp hole after hole 18 called ďThe MonkĒ hole. A 150 footer by baseball field.
Conditions:  Temp: mid 50s, cloudy to start, low 50s and a little windy at the end. The course has a lot of standing water and of course a ton of mud. Another cold, wet and raw night for disc golf.

Looking on the bright side, Paco Grimes continues the course beautification transformation. There were tons of new trees planted, new benches that are completed and new benches in the works. There are way too many things going on at this course for one set of eyes to catch. I canít wait to come back.

Thanks Riphizer for bringing their new basket for the temp hole. The basket looks and catches great.
It was nice to see Matt Ogg up on crutches and back hanging with the league.

Thanks Paco Grimes for sorting the money. Having this done before we come in is a huge relief for us.

THE FIRST MONTH IS IN THE BOOKS!

TOP THREE
PRO/ADV

Absolutely destroying the course and crushing the competition were Dave Kociuba & Ryan Hoffman. They shot an incredible round of 38 (-16) blowing out the next closes team by three strokes. They end up taking home 61 bucks each and tacking on four huge points to their totals. Shooting a very nice round of 41(-13) and taking second place alone were Mick McGowan and Mike Vargo. They end up splitting $78 and they tack on three points to their totals. We had a tie for third place. With two points on the line Dana Vicich & Brandon Rousch pull out the ctp playoff on hole #1. They end up splitting 50 bucks and receive that extra point. The teams shot rounds of 43 (-11).

TOP THREE
AM/NOV

Joe Heinen & Zack Pershau take the top honors for the week. They end up shooting a very nice round of 44 (-10). Joe and Zach take home $33 each and tack on four points to their totals to close out April. Shooting a 45 (-9) and finishing in second place alone were Todd Paraday & Tim Guajardo. They pick up three big points and split 37 bucks. Kevin Won & Randy McMurray shot a good round of 46(-8) to take the third place honors this week. They get that extra point and split 25 bucks.

CTPS

Shawn Harmon CTP Money Fund hole #1 = $45
Dave Kociuba CTP Basket Fund hole #4 = $45
Jason Riley CTP Tournament Fund hole #18 = $41

ACES

Dave Kociuba aced hole #2 = $54

A huge night for Dave Kociuba. He wins first place in the Pro/Adv division, hits the basket fund ctp and aces an extremely difficult hole. Dave ends up taking home $160 for the night. Not bad for week night of disc golf.

Yes! I love this stuff! Two good buddies battling over a disc golf issue and then the inevitable happens. Politics rears its head and takes control over their minds. That was entertaining. You guys should run for some type of office so you can release all that stuff built up inside. Donít worry we still love you guys.
What would we do without you.

My opinion is I think the rule is harsh for the players who take care of their habitís mess. At any Worlds level I think majority of the players know to pick-up after themselves and most are courteous to where their smoke blows.

PDGA / Worlds Smoking Ban
« on: April 22, 2011, 09:19:17 AM »
http://www.pdga.com/worlds-smoking-ban

Smoking has been banned during competition at both the 2011 PDGA Professional and Amateur Disc Golf World Championships. Players will not be permitted to smoke from the start of play until the playerís scorecard has been submitted. Smoking of any kind during competition could result in immediate disqualification and further disciplinary action as stated in the PDGA Competition Manual, Section 3.3 Player Misconduct.

After many months of contemplation, In January 2011 the PDGA Board made the decision to restrict smoking during both the 2011 PDGA Pro World Championships in Santa Cruz CA and the 2011 PDGA Amateur & Junior World Championships in Rochester NY. The Board was well aware of the potential ramifications of this decision and how others have addressed this issue, and this board (as has past boards) debated this issue for some time before making this decision for 2011.The board has not made any decisions on a long term smoking policy for our major events. With the 2011 PDGA Pro Worlds in Santa Cruz requiring a smoking ban due to the drought conditions in California, the Board felt this was the opportune time to test the waters on the impact of a smoking ban at our two (2) most visible and public events Ė the PDGA World Championships.

We will evaluate the effects of this policy for the future at our 2011 Fall Summit, and we welcome your comments and suggestions.

ON BEHALF OF THE 2011 PDGA BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Dave ďNezĒ Nesbitt

PDGA Commissioner & Board President

J-TOWN DOUBLES WEEK 3 RESULTS 2011
WEEK 3 - April 20, 2011[/size]
First Half #3
Trinity Links - Lockport
18 Holes - Short Tees- Par 54
Conditions:  Temperature was in the 40s with howling cold NW winds. The ground was saturated with standing water on several holes. A raw night for disc golf. At least it didnít rain.

Overall considering the weather the course was not in bad shape due to the amount of work put into it over the last couple of years. It is truly amazing to see the transformation of where this course was from the beginning to where it is now. When the ultimate goal for Trinity is completed this course is going to blow people away!

Thanks to Brew & Grow Bolingbrook & Jake Riley for donating a t-shirt for a ctp.

Please start bringing your baskets to league if they can easily be broken down and thrown in your car. We will probably need at least a couple each week.

Don't forget to get there early and register. We are expecting a full field plus.
