Chain Reaction has been bumped from it's preferred spot, and I'm looking at spots to put it in. The best spot appears to be June 16 & 17th.......except that Fathers Day is on the 17th.
So, I'd like to hear from everyone.....would you play a tournament on Fathers Day?
If we do this, we'll come up with some ideas to make it special for Fathers Day.
As part of the Wild West experience, I will be running a mini driving contest during the lunch break. Let's see who can drive their mini the farthest. Bring your favorite mini! Or, I will have some excellent driving mini's available for purchase if you don't have one that's suitable. One drive is included in your registration fee. Extra drives can be purchased for $2, or 3 for $5. All money from the extra drives purchased will go into the pot. May the longest drive win.
$2 will be taken out of every entry fee and put into a pot for the longest drive with a mini. As always, Am's will be paid in funny money, and Pro's will be paid in cash.
The contest will be held on the green mile (hole #11). All mini's must stay in the fairway or be disqualified. Any mini that comes to rest in or beyond the weeds on either side of the fairway is considered OB and cannot win. I'll take a look at the fairway before the contest starts and make any adjustments necessary for a fair contest. I will be the sole judge and jury regarding OB, unless I appoint someone to run the driving contest, in which case, that person shall be sole judge and jury.
I would like to get a few volunteers to help out with the mini driving contest. I'd like a few runners to bring mini's back to the tee box and to generally help out with the contest. If you are willing to volunteer, please PM me.
I'm going to try something new to encourage pre-registration. I will be adding at least 3 free CTPs for everyone who pre-registers. If I get a lot of pre-registrations, I'll add more. I have some beautiful Supercolor Buzzz's and Roc +'s that I will donate for CTPs. Mike Kursell's "Zombie Bandit" artwork is on these, and they came out great. That's a $25 value for each FREE CTP. I may add a shirt or two if I do more than three CTPs.
So, pre-register and have even more fun!
Now, here's the official info:

Deuces Wild 2010 - July 10th (Sunday only) - Trinity Links and Highland Park

The rest of the Ams will play Shorts at Trinity first, then the white tees at Highland for the second round.

Please select which division you intend to play in. Note that ranked PDGA members cannot play in a division lower than where they are ranked.

We are strongly encouraging pre-registration this year. We will also have registration available the day of the tournament between 7am-9am at Trinity Links, but it will be $10 extra. Please help us smooth the process out by pre-registering. Our thanks in advance to everyone who pre-registers!

That new green on #11 at Channahon is starting to look mighty nice!
And was that a new tree behind tee box #3, or was that there all along? You've done so much work this year Frank, that I'm beginning to think I'm seeing old things as new.........
Update:Points update for each division is at the end of this thread. List of players invited, and online signup is available here: http://www.acesandchains.com/node/1
We'll be running a special match play tournament (probably in September) from the shop this year. To qualify, you must be one of the top 16 in points earned at an Aces and Chains tournament this year in one of the main 5 divisions (Novice, Rec, Int, Adv, and Open). Points add up from each Aces and Chains tournament you play in. (other divisions - see below....I haven't left you out.)
If you qualify, you will be invited to play in the match play tournament in your division. This will be a single elimination (ie: sudden death) tournament. Entry fee will be $10. The winner in each division will get the cash, and their name engraved on a trophy/plaque that will be permanently hung in the shop. Each year, a new winner will be added to the same trophy/plaque.
Divisions other than the main 5 will still be able to participate. The number of entrants in each division will be based on the number of players who have earned points in that division. This will be determined after The Wild West 2011. Winners from divisions other than the main 5 will get the cash (entry fees for the AC Finals from their division), and a small trophy to take home.
This is meant to be a thank you to all the players who come out to play in an Aces and Chains tournament this year. It will be non-sanctioned, and all entry fees go straight back out as cash prizes. Hopefully, this will add an extra element of fun and competition to the tournaments this year.
Aces and Chains is proud to present, the second annual Chain Reaction tournament, this time at West Park.
Two rounds of 25+ holes at West Park, for a total of 50+ holes in this tournament. Barring any issues, round one will be from the short tees, and round two from the long tees. Registration/Check in will be by hole one both days.
Registration is open at http://www.acesandchains.com/node/440 and will be available till 8pm the Friday before the tournament. You can also register in person at Aces and Chains Disc Golf Pro Shop - 1706 W. Jefferson St, Joliet. Registration will be available at the shop during store hours thru Friday 6/24. Assuming we have spots left, registration will be open from 7:45am-8:45am on tournament day, but there is a $10 fee to register the day of. So please, make it easy on my team and pre-register......you'll save yourself $10 in the process!

A HUGE thank you goes out to Frank Grimes and Ellen Macuiba (of the Channahon Park District) for their help saving my Shot Down in Flames tournament. My permit at Shorewood was denied today.....two days before the tournament.
When I called Frank to ask if I could move it to Channahon, he didn't hesitate. I know this creates some extra work for you Frank, and you were probably switching gears in your head as I was asking you for the favor. Yet, you didn't hesitate to save my butt. A heaping helping of gratitude from me Frank. I owe you. I told Ellen, and I'll tell you when I see you......I'd like to pay back the favor. If you need something for the course, please let me know. It could be a new basket, or something as simple as some dirt and cement. Whatever it is, there will come a time you want to do something and no one will provide the funds. Please come see me and let me repay this favor.
And when I spoke to Ellen, she was a total class act. Had me set up within a few minutes with a pavillion on the hill. So again, a HUGE thanks from me for helping me out and making this tournament possible. I really do appreciate it and I'm sure all the players do to.
I have big news........HUGE news. Frankly, you're not going to believe it.
The Village of Shorewood denied my park permit today.
I want to give a HUGE thanks to Frank Grimes and Ellen Macuiba at the Channahon Park District for saving this tournament and allowing me to move it over to Channahon. Frank, as always, a huge thank you from me for switching gears and allowing me to put the tournament at Channy. I know this creates some work for you that you weren't counting on, and you were a class act when I called you to ask the favor. Ellen, I can't tell you how much of a relief it was when you agreed to give me the permit for Channy. Both of you save me, and my tournament, and I won't forget it!
Two 18 hole rounds at Shorewood for a total of 36+ holes in this tournament. This is an Amatuer only event. I had a lot of players asking me for a tournament at Shorewood last year, so here it is. And what better course to host an Ams Only event?
Shorewood is one of the most popular disc golf courses in the Joliet Area. It is a short course, but technical, and very well suited to an Ams only tournament. Big arms aren't necessary, but touch and control are definitely key here.
This tournament will fill up. Pre-registration is highly recommended. Note that the last tournament filled by Thursday, so please don't wait to pre-register.
Pre-registration is available both online, and in person at the store. Pre-registration closes at 7pm Friday, May 6th. Registration the day of the event is an additional $10, if there are spots available.
Registration/Check-in will be open from 8am-9am. Players meeting at approx. 9:15am, and tee off at approx. 9:30am.
Both rounds will be played from the short tees.
I would like to get two additional tournament quality baskets, so if anyone has one available, please contact me - I would really appreciate it!
We already have one Int Women's player for First Flight, and I'm putting the call out to all the female players to come out and join her. Let's see if we can put together a good group of players in the women's divisions.
We will have a trophy for a women's division if we can get 3 or more players in one division.
So, consider this a little encouragement to get out there and have a great time with your fellow female players.
Aces and Chains is proud to present our first tournament of 2011:
April 9th - First Flight 2011 at Highland Park
Two 18+ hole rounds at Highland Park for a total of 36+ holes in this tournament.
Highland Park is ranked as one of the best disc golf courses in the state of Illinois by the PDGA State Coordinator. This is an extremely tough course. It has great variety, with a lot of elevation, and a high risk/reward factor. Come out and enjoy a true challenge at Highland Park.
This tournament will fill up. Pre-registration is highly recommended.
Pre-registration is available both online, and in person at the store (Please bring cash only if registering at the store.) Pre-registration closes at 7pm Friday, April 8th. Registration the day of the event is an additional $10. Please try to pre-register. We'd like to eliminate registration for the morning of the event if possible.
