IOS #76 - Oswego Open

Eagle Ridge, Oswego, IL
June 4 & 5, 2016
PDGA C/B Tier

Eagle Ridge is the home course of the Fox Valley Metro Disc Golf Club. We'd like to thank them along with the Oswegoland Park District for continually improving this course. The tight woods challenge players to keep it in the fairway and the open holes gives players a breather before heading back into the woods. The elevated pin on hole 9 has tested many players nerves while putting.

This event will be two rounds of 21 holes.

More details including divisions, entry fees, schedule, etc. can be found on the details page on illinoisopenseries.com.

Registration Information

You can pre-register for this event through midnight June 2 either online at http://illinoisopenseries.com/preregister-ios76 or or by mailing in your registration (and make your checks payable) to:

Mike Krupicka
1119 Sara Lane
Naperville, IL 60565

Note that there is a $5 fee to register on the day of the event.

Parking Info:
Please consider parking at Violet Patch Park on Rt. 25. This is located at the western entrance to the course. Parking in the lot in front of the Civic Center is reserved for swimming pool patrons.

What Division should I play?
If you have a PDGA rating you should play in a division based on that rating. If you do not have a rating, here are recommended divisions based on typical scores on the short layout at Oswego:
Score    Division
< 50    Am1
51-53    Am2
54-57    Am3
58+    Am4

J-TOWN DOUBLES WEEK 7 RESULTS 2016
WEEK 7 - May 18, 2016
First Half #7
Community Park, Channahon

TEES
White Tees 18 Holes - Par 54

CONDITIONS
The night started out at a pleasant 64 degrees with scattered clouds which quickly turned into clear skies. We had cool winds of around 10 mph coming out of the East. The temperature dropped into the high fifties by the end of the night making it a chilling night. It turned out to be a great night for disc golf. The water areas on the course are high but overall the course is great shape and there were no bugs out.

NOTES

• Reunion Year! Axel Rose Bruemmer stopped by and played. He signed discs  and sang “Welcome To The Jungle” acappella. It was horrible!

• I was great to see at least 5 new faces that we hope will continue to show up each week. We also hope that the familiar faces that weren’t there will make their way back and be part of this year’s league.

• Chris “Chrispy” Brenholtz and John “Johnny B” Boyd win the crazy 5-way tie playoff for first on the second hole. They take the top honors shooting a great round of 41 (-13).

• Chris “Topher” Roberts and Robby “Uli” Barry put an old fashion ass whippin’ on the Am/Nov field. They take the easy victory by a huge 3-stroke margin, shooting an incredible round of 42 (-12).

• Please call fore when approaching with your driver.

• Shout to Dave Kociuba for all his help. He has been an extremely vital part of our league these last few year.

* Shout out to Bree McDonald for coming out battling with us and carrying her teammate the entire round.

• Shout out to the Taco Lady! She made be busted up but she sure does make great tacos.

J-TOWN DOUBLES WEEK 5 RESULTS 2016
WEEK 5 - May 4, 2016
First Half #5
Knoch Knolls, Naperville

TEES
Tees 18 Holes - Par 54
We Relocated hole #5 tee pad. We played both tee pads on 10 & 14 simultaneously. We skipped holes 17 & 18.

CONDITIONS
The night started out at around 53 degrees with overcast skies and winds blowing at around 12-17 mph out of the North. The temp dropped into the low forties by the end of the night. Previous rains have left a few holes tough to play. We did some rearranging and everyone came back pretty dry. It still to damn cold! Where’s the 80s!

NOTES
• Knot Knoch Knolls!
After a few year hiatus we are back again Knoch Knolls Park. It’s a nice little 18  hole course that’s good for the beginning and the ending of the year when we have daylight issues. We’ll definitely be back next half.

• Thanks everyone for traveling a little last night but It was nice to be crapping in 10 for a change, if you know what I mean.

• It seems Wednesday’s are cursed this year, but it looks like the early forecast for next week looks promising.

• Reunion Year!

• Steve “Stefano” Slater and Izak “Imac” McDonald easily take down thee pro/adv field while destroying the course. They ended up shooting a fantastic round of 40 (-14) and claim the victory.

• Ryan “Dr.Pepper” Barcas & Dave “Garbo” Garb easily take care of the Am/Nov Division. They shot a great round of 43 (-11) and take the victory.

• We had an all Ams sweep on all the ctps

• Shout to Dave Kociuba for all his help. He has been an extremely vital part of our league these last few year.

TIP OF THE WEEK
When traveling to Naperville from the Joliet area, stay away from the Weber & I-55 area. You’ll end up stuck in traffic & pissed off. You’ll also have to run all the way across the whole course to get to your hole while the entire league hackles the shit out of you before you get there.
