Respect...these are public parks
« on: September 21, 2010, 10:08:59 PM »
People that are still throwing on Hole #19 @ Channahon, you should really be setting a better example.  Or at least try and encourage people to not throw from #19.  Its only going to become more of an issue with the park.  Eventually, the park district will do something that you all don't like; and then you'll bad-talk the park district like you did nothing wrong.  How hard is it to respect a request? Second of all, somebody almost hit me in the back of the head on Monday.  I was across the creek almost to #1's basket.  If you are that far off, maybe you should practice more before you even think about coming out to a course to play.  On another note, why do some people have to have such a hatred for other people using the park.  It is a "public park."  They have just as much right to be there as you do.  I understand some are rude, but what does it accomplish when you disrespect others' rights to walk/run/just be/etc.  Especially, when they will be gone or finished in a short amount of time.  If you start on a certain hole away from them, by the time you come back around, they will be done and gone with no frustration or confrontation.  Some of you get so worked by the smallest things.  It can be very simple to block it out and concentrate on the routine putt that is waiting for you.  Instead, you let it bother you, and whine and cry about it to everyone else around you.  Save it for your mommy.  Some of us still enjoy being out on the course.  What would you do if Disc Golf was as big as Ball Golf?

.. And anyway dean, not to burn any bridges or anything, but have you ever had a bad shot.. one bad shot does not mean a poor golfer.  and although we threw our discs from there, there were no cars parked in the front row except for my own, so that was of no concern to me.  were not allowed to drink at the parks either, but that doesnt stop people from doin it.. ya know..?    i do my fair share around the courses when i play them, so i dont want to be disrespected just because i threw the practice hole.. many people do it.  its a common hole for people to play. a sign wont stop them from throwin there.. im just sayin if your that worried, dont park in the front row, its not a small parking lot by any means.

Our Park District would pull the baskets if we went against a safety issue more than once. We have been warned. Disc Golf doesn't bring in revenue for the Park District so it's real easy for them to pull the plug on disc golf. That would actually save them money by doing that. Discers must be real careful. We are almost always in a losing situation. Revenue would change their minds but can't see that happening soon.
It's great to be alive!
Positive mind helps.

I couldn't agree with you more Dean!
Ben! You are not special! That sign is posted because there was an incident. The park does not need the liability. Something happened Ben for them to put the sign up & I wish you would respect the privilege you have to play there. It's different than drinking, someone could get hurt or there could be property damage. The solution is real simple, if you don't like the rules & conditions, don't play there!!! What's going to happen is the basket will be removed. Why do a few have to ruin it for many.
You need to join the military, you'll learn what no means or pay the consequences.
Keep it up & get caught & the basket will be gone. I'm going to tell you what I really think the next time I see you. You don't seem to be a reasonable person & just care about yourself.

i dont need to be talked to like im a little kid. i know there is a sign there.. and im not saying i throw it every time i play.. that day, there were no cars but mine, and it was like 6 oclock.. 3 people on hole 1.. jtown people.. i see people do worse things than throw the practice hole. im not shunning blame or anything.. whatever, i threw the practice hole.. its there.. just saying, sometimes people should be a little less disrespectful and worry about themselves.. and frank.. not saying im special.. im just saying that because my friend almost hit dean in the head doesnt mean were poor golfers.. i never asked for special attention, so dont think thats what im talking out.. just would like to be treated like everyone else.. not a little kid.

The sign doesn't say anything about "only throw when your car is the only one in the front row"...it says not to throw at all.  You didn't...Ultimately, you are at fault.  While you may not be a little kid, you're posts trying to justify yourself proves you DO have a lot to learn.

Frank and Dean have been accurate in what they have said.

I never mentioned anything about cars.  How does "You doing your fair share," equate to doing whatever you want?  How am I disrespecting you by asking you to simply respect the request of the park about an issue.  The last half of my post was me just rambling about people in general.
