I found your mini, the one you get when you register with the PDGA. Some cherish that mini. James or anyone who knows James, I have it. Ask for Frank at our formal league, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Saturday & they will point you in the right direction.
This may be redundant & I forgot to mention it at the tag challenge. We're looking for input on a club logo. If anyone has any ideas will you pass them on to a board member? If you can sketch something that would be great. If you have an idea, pass it on & I'll ask Mike Kursell to do the sketch. If it's more convenient, call me, (815) 942-6300 we'd like to get something going. If I don't answer, leave a message with your thoughts.
Putting the album together is a huge warming to my heart. Thanks so much for all that signed it & Laureen for putting it together. I went through it several times this evening. Just a little story. I saw that old man & mom signed it. That's Wilbur Wallis's Mom & Dad. The first time I met the old man, he was introduced as old man. I assumed his wife was the old lady & said hi old lady............ I never did that again, they politely chewed me out. She's Mom! Thanks everyone, it means very much to me! Another hug to you Laureen!
As some already know the Park doesn't want anyone throwing from the top of the hill over the asphalt path to the practise basket. There was a post on #18's tee that someone tore off. This request came from Daryl Cole, a supervisor in the park chain of command, 2nd in command. If this continues they will remove the practise basket. I'm asking if you see someone throwing, ask them to stop. It's in our best interest as Disc Golfers to have a good relationship with our Parks. I'm assuming a car was hit & reported it to Daryl. Thanks, Frank
If you don't know how to view the photos, let me help. Simply highlight messages, then click on gallery. Jesse has nice stuff & many already know how to view the picture's. Thanks Jason Poole & Jesse.
Not all the reports are in for the Ice Bowl but today we're in 10th place. Dean, Thor, & Frank were there & everything went well. Choosing pictures & giving input for what's going to be published in the Herald News. Terri took us on a tour & I was quite impressed to the depth of their outreach. They screen who they help. They have a standard helping the truly needie. You can't be a drunken jerk who needs a place to sleep with a free meal.If one comes in with that status, they dry out with help from the police & go back to be interviewed. They help whole family's. They train people to be self sufficient. We did a good thing J-Town!!!
I didn't play Channahon for a week or so and was expecting a mess of litter. I only picked a couple of cans. Johnnie B. said he was doing his share of picking up & I'm sure others have also. It's nice to see that! Way to go J-Town!!!
The formal presentation to Morning Star Mission, from the J-Town Ice Bowl will be Friday 03/19/10 1:00pm. Your welcome to come. The address is, 350 E. Washington Joliet, Illinois 60443-1550
As some already know there is buzz about concrete tees for Highland. Some of the obvious hurdles are money & labor. I'm helping Darrin & Jessie put a game plan together. Some of the tees will be difficult to get to. With enough people we may do the difficult, not much is impossible, & certaintly not the hard to get tees at Highland, with enough help. Get a hold of Darrin & give your level of experience in concrete. Depending on the game plan we may need strong backs. We could get a concrete pump truck but that's not cheap. Lets see if we can get something going.
$3,559 Total includes sponsors, raffles, 50/50, players.
300 lbs. of food.
I know thanks is ordinary, but Thanks! J-Town is a new club & it took many to mesh together to have this tournament. A grateful Thanks to all involved.
With all the work that goes into a tournament it's worthless without players so thanks to you that came out. Not to mention the people who were in the spotlight in today's tournament there are behind the scenes help I want to make mention of. I left my notes at home & I'm not sure if they were mentioned. Mike Kursell (back brace Mike) custom made each sponsor sign. He verified address & made custom signs for sponsor & did that from the posts that were on line . Only with a few did we have to get together on. Shawn Harmon is always ready to rock & roll. He helped with the tees, also with splitting the firewood & brought his fire pit, and too with generous donations from him & his family. Doctor Pepper ( Ryan Barcas) also helped with sponsors & labor. He also helped with splitting the firewood, & frequently asked if I need something. He also brought his firepit. Dave K. made the player flyer's, & he & Tom M. had also kept the tees clean. Gary Lewis putting up capital for Ice Bowl merchandise. Dom got $375.00 in sponsors, Thor pointed him in the right direction. As was announced, the idea for a local Ice Bowl, came from Thor. He along with Randy Moore tutored me to get sponsors, & I might add it was relatively easy for the cause we had. Morning Star is a staple in the Joliet area and that made it easier to get sponsors. Randy is having trouble with his left hand, that's why he hasn't been playing. Give him positive thoughts & prayers. Thanks you all that played!!!
We had a meeting last night about the tournament & one of the things discussed was failure to bring non perishable food items. If you forget to bring something, there will be a $5.00 charge & that will go to the Mission.
