J-Town Forum

As some already know there is buzz about concrete tees for Highland. Some of the obvious hurdles are money & labor.
I'm helping Darrin & Jessie put a game plan together. Some of the tees will be difficult to get to. With  enough people we may do the difficult, not much is impossible, & certaintly not the hard to get tees at Highland,with enough help.
Get a hold of Darrin & give your level of experience in concrete. Depending on the game plan we may need strong backs. We could get a concrete pump truck but that's not cheap.
Lets see if we can get something going.

I know thanks is ordinary, but Thanks! J-Town is a new club & it took many to mesh together to have this tournament. A grateful Thanks to all involved.

With all the work that goes into a tournament it's worthless without players so thanks to you that came out.
Not to mention the people who were in the spotlight in today's tournament there are behind the scenes help I want to make mention of. I left my notes at home & I'm not sure if they were mentioned. Mike Kursell (back brace Mike) custom made each sponsor sign. He verified address & made custom signs for sponsor & did that from the posts that were on line . Only with a few did we have to get together on.
Shawn Harmon is always ready to rock & roll. He helped with the tees, also with splitting the firewood & brought his fire pit, and too with generous donations from him & his family.
Doctor Pepper ( Ryan Barcas) also helped with sponsors & labor. He also helped with splitting the firewood, & frequently asked if I need something. He also brought his firepit.
Dave K. made the player flyer's, & he & Tom M. had also kept the tees clean.

Dom got $375.00 in sponsors, Thor pointed him in the right direction.
As was announced, the idea for a local Ice Bowl, came from Thor. He along with Randy Moore tutored me to get sponsors, & I might add it was relatively easy for the cause we had.
Morning Star is a staple in the Joliet area and that made it easier to get sponsors.
Randy is having trouble with his left hand, that's why he hasn't been playing. Give him positive thoughts & prayers.

We had a meeting last night about the tournament & one of the things discussed was failure to bring non perishable food items. If you forget to bring something,  there will be a $5.00 charge & that will go to the Mission.

This is a correction on the tee time for the Ice Bowl.
It's 09:30am not 09:00.

Tee Off 09:00am Players meeting 08:45am.
There are 5 divisions pro, advanced,intermediate, rec & novice, maybe grandmaster.
First place trophies only. Sanctioned Event.
$40.00 pro entry, $30.00 all others.
$10.00 registration goes to the Mission.
Either a non member or not current member there is a $10.00 charge & that will go to the mission.
A $5.00 charge for game day registration & that goes to the Mission. Try to pre register it will be helpful to those running the tournament.
Two items of non perishable food items.
Two rounds of singles from the short tees.
Cash & awards for pros & ams.
Free chili lunch, Terri from the mission will be making it.

I talked with Gary Lewis this evening & he said the stuff is awesome!!!
Shirts, hats, discs (mako & buzz) I'm not sure what else.
The merchandise will be at the tournament.

There are some details that still need to be worked out.
First, anyone that's not playing, Gary Louis, Mike Kursell, Jason Poole, Ray Hill are supporting this event. Morning Star will also help, but I think more of serving & preparing the food. I don't think that's going to be enough for post registration & what not. If someone doesn't play you could step up & help with the organization of this event.
Other needs are crock pots, total of six, large coffee makers, two for coffee & one for hot water. Jesse is giving one so two more are needed.
Ryan Baracs has a fire pit, another might be appropriate.
I cut some firewood but may need some help splitting it.
You'll be supporting this event by playing & that's the goal but so much need to be done behind the scenes any help will be appreciated.
I'm sure I'll think of more.

Fox valley is having their Ice Bowl 02/13/10 & we want to know if you think we should cancel Tag Challenge that day. I'm going to there Ice Bowl.

We will not have Bag Tag Challenge 02/27/10, that's the date for J-Town's Ice Bowl.

Does anyone have access to one of those portable fire pits?
I would like to use in the registration area for the Ice Bowl.

I want to give everyone a heads up about your membership.
The Ice Bowl is a sanctioned tournament. As you know there is a $10.00 charge for non current or non members.
One can save $5.00 going through J-Town Disc Golf Club. See Jason Poole if you can.
Ray, Dean, & Frank can also take the fee & pass it on to Jason.
You can also sign up on your own. Remind your friends, it's coming soon.

Kevin Schramm (a disc golfer) invited Teri Micetech, from Morning Star Mission, Gary Louis, Thor Batchelor, & Frank Grimes were interviewed.
The show was aired live Tuesday but will be aired again.
Saturday 01/23/10 between 9 am & 10am.
It's a Morris station wjdk 95.7 FM or wcsj 103.1 FM which ever one comes in best.

Being a die hard Sox fan........it was somewhat difficult, and I went to the Cubs web sight to get their address for donations.
Along with a note I'm sending a flyer & hopefully Cubbies they will give us something for the Ice Bowl.

Dean & I cleaned the tees for bag tag challenge tomorrow. Snow on the tees will not be a reason for a no show. Dean's putting up a low # & who knows maybe Flash will show, he's real low (number)

I asked Scott Pitner to run this tournament & sell merchandise & he reluctantly said yes. He not much on cold weather.
Things have changed, after talking to Gary Lewis this evening. He will sell the merchandise & either Thor or I Will be the TD but that position is open. We are going to need help tournament day.

I'm looking for the bottom ring that holds the chains.

If anybody you know is playing Mokena, or did yesterday afternoon, please have them keep an eye out for a small camera in a red camera case. I think it fell out of my bag while I was playing yesterday afternoon.
