Hi J Town and Jesse. I tried to e-mail Jesse by replying to the recent mass notice he sent. I plan to play and am looking forward to it. Damon and I went to Highland Park last Sunday and I had an interesting thing happen on hole 5. I landed under the tree to the right of the basket.I thought it might be best to make a decision on this before it happens again. I can easily see this happening again, especially for a lefty. Take a look at this thread I posted on PDGA. http://www.pdga.com/discussion/showthread.php?t=36473

After looking at hole 5 closer, discussing it with the PDGA Rules Committee and some of our staff we’ve come up a solution. The area of the crevice will be roped off and there will be a mandatory drop zone without penalty in the area behind the tree. The drop zone will be marked with a flag or cylinder.
-
We are still looking for spotters for both days. If you like to spot on the day you're not playing let me know.
-
The drop zone will be behind the tree? Which tree? Will you have a putt? I land in that area quite a bit and would be upset if I did and then had to take a mandatory drop behind a tree with no putt...

The drop zone is a yellow cylinder that's actually in front of the tree with the root problem. It will make for an easier and safer shot then if you were in the crevice.

The J-Town Disc Golf Doubles League is setting up and playing the six alternate holes that will be used at IL State on Wednesday.

Awesome, saw it yesterday. It sounded like you meant it was going to be behind the (root) tree.

Are you guys still looking for help on Sunday? An injury prevents me from playing, but I'd love to help out with whatever you might need. I've played the past two years, since I can't this year I'd like to be involved on the other side of the tournament if you need anything, just let me know.

Hey Jeff, Jesse may be a little tied up getting the final details done. If it's possible, can you come out Saturday & check with him? There usually isn't too much help.

Good show yesterday! Things ran smoothly even with a full field. Player packs were nice. Lunch on site is always a great bonus. Awards/prize distribution went quickly.
I have to admit, it was nice for a change to play an event without being involved in running one.
Thanks to all of the staff/volunteers that made it a great day.

You know what it's like Mike. I think Jesse started this last Feb. with the logo. It really is awesome to have that many people with endless Ob's to have it go so well. Many helped, Gary with the merchandise, & doing the alternate holes, Dale with the cool trophies, so many helped. I saw Ray Hill wrapping up the ob string along with Jason Poole Sunday, after the tournament. How sweet it is to get the positive feedback. Just so you all know, Jesse was out there getting dirty, getting the course ready along with his other duties. The only whining I heard was about their play. Great job Jesse & all the help!!!
-
Yes, awesome job by the whole J-town crew. Thanks for running such a great tournament. Wish I had played better! Lol.
I was impressed by the amount of work that obviously went into this tournament. Every year I am humbled by the great job you guys do at this tournament.
-
What a delightful day in the park. 48 holes was long. I did not get home until...late. Great job of getting the course in shape and keeping over 100 players happy and fed. Its clear that an army of volunteers worked to make this event play seamlessly. Great job guys and gals!!! Of all the fun things that happened the best was getting a chance to throw Frank's CE Valk at the basket for the Ace fund throw off. Close, but not close enough. Thanks Frank.
-
Great time again! Thank You for all the work you guys put into this. Always a pleasure mingling with all those Champs and Legends.
:)
-
Great big thank you to everyone who worked so hard to make the 30th Illinois State Champhionship such an awesome event! I had an awesome time and I greatly appreciate everyone's efforts!!!
