Update:Points update for each division is at the end of this thread. List of players invited, and online signup is available here: http://www.acesandchains.com/node/1
We'll be running a special match play tournament (probably in September) from the shop this year. To qualify, you must be one of the top 16 in points earned at an Aces and Chains tournament this year in one of the main 5 divisions (Novice, Rec, Int, Adv, and Open). Points add up from each Aces and Chains tournament you play in. (other divisions - see below....I haven't left you out.)
If you qualify, you will be invited to play in the match play tournament in your division. This will be a single elimination (ie: sudden death) tournament. Entry fee will be $10. The winner in each division will get the cash, and their name engraved on a trophy/plaque that will be permanently hung in the shop. Each year, a new winner will be added to the same trophy/plaque.
Divisions other than the main 5 will still be able to participate. The number of entrants in each division will be based on the number of players who have earned points in that division. This will be determined after The Wild West 2011. Winners from divisions other than the main 5 will get the cash (entry fees for the AC Finals from their division), and a small trophy to take home.
This is meant to be a thank you to all the players who come out to play in an Aces and Chains tournament this year. It will be non-sanctioned, and all entry fees go straight back out as cash prizes. Hopefully, this will add an extra element of fun and competition to the tournaments this year.

Please note that if you move up to a higher division, you can still use the points earned in the lower division to qualify for match play in the higher division. (You cannot use points earned in a higher division toward play in a lower one.) That way, there is no penalty for moving up.
As soon as Deuces Wild gets fixed on the PDGA site, I will update this list again.
Need to pad your totals? We only have one tournament left - The Wild West at West Park on August 27th & 28th.

Deuces Wild points are finally up on the PDGA. New points totals for each division listed below. There is only one tournament left to pad your totals: The Wild West 2011 at Westpark in Joliet IL on August 27th & 28th.

A wide spread of points thru the top three of Jon Boster, Jason Riley, and Ben Carrescia. Looks like the 16th spot in Advanced could be highly contested. The difference in points between 6th and 18th is only 30 points. With 16th place at 45 points, anyone could still get in the finals.

Randy Moore Sr. has been on a tear all year long. Sitting 52 points above second place, his lead is nearly insurmountable. But can he win 5 match play rounds in a row to bring it home? This Intermediate field looks very tight, with the difference between 12th and 22nd being only 20 points, anything can happen.

Kenny Loeffler and Jake Guajardo in a dead heat at 80 points each, with Eric Smith and Sean Callahan right on their heels. All four are within 10 points of each other. The points difference between 13th and 42nd is only 26 points. That last qualifying spot (at 16th place) is up for grabs, and could be captured by anybody at this point.

Points are up for The Wild West, and I've compiled the totals and listed them in the posts below. My apologies if I spelled anyone's name incorrectly.....I was up pretty late making these lists. So if I butchered anyone's name, please let me know and I'll edit out the mistakes.
Invites for the AC Match Play tournament will be put in a separate post later today or tomorrow, along with more details on the format.

A lot of movement on the Intermediate list. Randy still commands a huge lead over the field, and won't have to meet the second place finisher until the final round, if at all. Jacob Burton, and Aris Pashos (among others) bring a lot of points from lower divisions earlier in the year, and by playing multiple days at many of the tournaments. Let's see how that strategy pays off during match play. Will they be overmatched? Or are their skills progressing fast enough to beat the rest of the pack?

List of players invited, more info, and online signup is available here: http://www.acesandchains.com/node/1
You can also stop in at the shop to sign up (cash only please!)
-
There are several discrepencies at the bottom of the invite lists which I hope will be eliminated when one of the spots in that division fails to fill, either because the player is out of town, or lack of funds/interest for this tournament. If that fails to happen, then we may need to have a playoff for the last spot between the following players who are tied in points:
MPO:
Kris Hutter
Clayton Drake
Recreational:
Matt Jakusz
Chris Anderson
Novice:
Alex Africa
Danny Cardwell
Aaron Studer
Anyone I've listed above with a discrepency, may sign up immediately. All first alternates are welcome to do so as well. If we can't put you in a spot, we will refund the money.
-
Catching some discrepencies with the divisions players are assigned to, as I'm going thru trying to find everyone's email address and phone numbers. I will post the corrections all at once as soon as I am done.
-
Minor changes to the invitation list:
Eric Willhite has been moved up to the Int list
Sean Callahan has been moved up to the Rec list
Because of this, the last person on the Int list has been bumped, one person on the Nov alternate list got moved up, and the Rec list is still pretty similar.
The invitational list is avaliable on the front page of the Aces and Chains website (see previous post).
-
This is a pre-register only event.
Once I have 16 players registered in a division, I'll make up the bracket and let everyone know who they will be playing in the first round.
I will hold a spot for each player on the invite list until Friday, September 23rd. After that, spots will be filled from the alternate list on a first come first served basis. Anyone who is on the current alternate list is welcome to pre-register to be on that waiting list.
So get your pre-registrations in to claim your invitation!
-
Ok, all alternates may now sign up. The remaining spots will be filled on a first come, first serve basis.
I'll post here when each division fills. Get your registrations in!
-
Today is the last day to sign up. If you plan to play, please pre-register before the end of the day. If you absolutely can't pre-register, but are 100% positive you want to play, call me at 815-993-3472. This won't guarentee you a spot, but I'll put you on the short list that I'll use to fill any empty spaces in the brackets after I close pre-reg.
There is NO day of registration.
-
Registration is closed. Matches will be posted later today....
-
Brackets are set.
Check in starts at 8am and runs till 10am at the latest tomorrow, Saturday October 1st.
Anyone who can't make it Saturday is encouraged to call the shop to let us know (815-207-8874). We'll facilitate making arrangements for another day/time to play your match. You have one week to play each match.
See below for each divisions matches.

Here are some results from some of the first week matchups:
Novice:
Larry Pennuto 76
Kyle Greenfield 70
Brandon Gutierrez 75
Joe Roppo 85
Eric Smith 72
Aaron Studer 84
Kenny Loeffler 74
Alex Africa 72
Recreational:
Sean Callahan 71
Matt Hotuyec 65
Ryan Barcas 71
Blaine Schepp 72
This was a hotly contested match. I hear that DP (Barcas) won it by deucing the last hole. Way to be a true deucebag Dr. Pepper!
Still waiting on Nugget, and Jason Smith. If anyone knows how to get in touch with them, please have them call the shop at 815-207-8874. Kyle Leos is out of town as well, which is why I haven't called for a forfeit for either of them. But I'll have to do so soon....
Intermediate:
Preliminary rounds:
Bryan Sullivan 67
DJ Eskra 71
Kevin Macuiba 69
John Boyd 64
First round matchups:
Randy Moore Sr. 64
John Boyd 63
John Marren 68
Cory Clements 62
Jesse Tackett 63
Mike Thompson 68
Kester Jeffers vs.
Bryan Sullivan
Sr. against Boyd was a tight round that went into sudden death. Boyd pulled it out with a deuce to bring his final score down to a 63. Deucebags are really hurting the Fox Valley faithful.
Advanced:
Jon Boster
Mike Conlee (Had to forfeit. Jon advances)
Ben Carrescia 63
Kris Linscott 68
Jason Riley 64
Matt Preston 66
Eric Fite 60
Tafe Hemler 68
With a blistering round of 60 (-12), Eric advances to the semi-finals against Jon Boster. Meanwhile, Tafe heads home to spray some Foil on his wounds. You may not remember what that is, but I bet Tafe does...
More to come. We'll try to occasionally post who is playing when and where in case anyone wants to come out and watch.
-
These are very cool matchups. Keep us posted.
-
If anyone has Jason Smith's phone number, or email where we can reach him, please let us know. If we can't schedule his round by this Saturday, we'll have to declare him out. (Shop phone number is 815-207-8874)
A few more first round results have been posted above.

Did Randy Sr. bow out?
-
Did Randy Sr. bow out?
Yep. We both shot -8 and went to hole #2 in sudden death where John made his putt and I missed mine. I missed a 15 foot putt on hole #23 that would of won it but John was a better player. Fun round that went down to the last putt. Congrats John and Thank You Patrick for the competitive disc golf that you gave this year!
-
So far we have two matches scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 8th:
Semi-final round at Mokena:
Brandon Gutierrez vs.
Eric Smith
First round at Westpark:
Tafe Hemler vs.
Eric Fite
I don't have a set time yet for either match. If I find out in time, I'll post here to encourage spectators.
I also know that Cory Clements and John Boyd will face off some time next week for their semi-final round at Mokena.
-
Just to whet your appetites, here is the prize money for each division (based on # of paid players)
Novice: $80
Recreational: $90
Intermediate: $100
Advanced: $90
Each division winner will also get their name put on the "perpetual trophy" that we will display in the shop. Each year, another winners name will be added. We will unveil this trophy next year at our "grand re-opening." If possible, we'd like to get a picture of all the winners with the trophy at that time.

Now how am I supposed to give Eric a hard time for not being able to play all week?!?
-
"Now how am I supposed to give Eric a hard time for not being able to play all week?!?"
I thought you would have given him a hard time already....
Besides, Eric doesn't read the forum. It's too intellectual for him.
See how I did that? 8)

Eric Fite v. Tafe Hemler / 1st rd. @ West Park; 9 AM tomorrow.
Spectators welcome, but...
If you mess with me or my round, your corpse will be thrown out onto I-80 after I'm done killing you! >:(
-
Wondering what has been going on for my match vs. nugget? I was there last saturday and havrnt heard anything since then. Please let me know ASAP.

Guess I should throw myself onto 80!
"Fox Valley is dead. Long live Fox Valley!"
Eric beat me, 60 to 66. I even wore my new Deucebag shirt! Bahhh!!!
Hard to compete against the BEST pre-lim round out of our pool. Eric was on fire. He even deuced #12!

My apologies for the long delay before posting the results. I've been in survival mode at the shop. But nonetheless, I've been remiss for not posting these...
