We will be doing the AC Finals again this year. Posted below are the points totals so far for each division. Top 16 in each of the 5 main divisions will qualify.
I was sad to hear the news of Tom's passing. I've played disc golf with him a few times, and talked to him many more. He was a great person, and a great mentor to his group of disc golfers. Tom was always giving away discs to new players that needed them. We'll miss him.
I have not heard about a memorial tournament for Tom, but it sounds like a great idea. If you do find out about it, let me know. I'll be happy to promote it at the shop. - Thanks, Patrick.
The Crunch bag is good quality, but holds a little less than what you said you were looking for. It's better for 10-15 discs, not 15-20. A lot of people carrying 15-20 discs use the Innova Competition bag, which is what I sell the most of. I currently have the comp bag in stock. I think I'm actually cheaper than most of the Amazon sellers too at $46.
Custom Stamped discs will be in Monday (along with baskets). As usual, Mike Kursell did a fantastic job. I gave him a tough task for this one. Imagine trying to make a leaf look like metal using only one color....
Poster is supposed to be done today, and as long as there's time to get it printed, we'll have posters for Iron Leaf.
The rest of the players pack will be "funny money".
If anyone has any other questions, please let me know.
No, it is not. It probably won't be open until June or July. They still have some work to do on the hiking trails. With construction traffic going in and out, they don't want to open the park yet.
Thank you to everyone! Thanks for coming out and I hope everyone had a great time.
Cory Clements: He could run the tournament by himself if he had to...and sometimes he does! Always there, always organized. I could not run these tournaments without Cory. He's a great friend, and a perfect compliment to my team. Thank you Cory for everything you do.
Eulojio Ortega: (Chicago Muralist) Eulojio is a very talented artist that volunteered his time to make the hotstamp and poster. The T-shirt was also based on his artwork. First Flight's artwork this year show's Icarus on his "first flight." Thanks again to Eulojio for the fantastic artwork.
Jason Riley: Jason came out again to do the leaderboard for us, taking some of the burden off of us during the hectic points of the tournament. He also stuck around a little longer than he really wanted to on Sunday at my request so that I'd have someone to help at the end. My thanks Jason, I really appreciate it!
Rufus Cathey: A huge thanks to Rufus and AAA for sponsoring the tournament. Rufus is a great guy, and a fellow disc golfer. Many of you met him before, during, or after your rounds, and I'm sure you'd agree. He's not a pushy salesman, but someone who really wants to support the sport. He also helped me bring in the temp baskets on Sunday. We need more people who support the sport, and I can't think of a better guy than Rufus. My sincere thanks to you Rufus!
I'd also like to thank the many people behind the scenes who help out, or offer their support. TJ for getting the CTPs Sunday, Joe Heinen for lending a hand with the canopy Saturday, Mike K, Marci, Blaine & Christi for everything, Jon for helping with the OB lines, and to everyone else who said a kind word, or lended a hand - I thank you.
One last note: A lot of casuals came by to play Highland both days. All of ones I spoke to were very polite and understanding. I don't know if any of them will ever see this, but I wanted to officially say "Thank You" to them on behalf of all the tournament players.
All streets (not including the curbs). Surrounded by water in the creek by hole 12 (very little water there now. If you succeed in getting surrounded by water, you are OB.)
No two meter rule
1.) OB behind the basket. Line is marked with flags and yellow twine. 3.) Must throw over the street to be inbounds. The street and everything on the tee side are OB. A drop zone will be provided. 9.) On or over the street to the right is OB 12.) Street, concrete pad, and surrounded by water in the creek are all OB 17.) On or over the street to the right, and around behind the hole is OB.
There are a few other minor area of OB that most players will be unlikely to hit. Those will be covered at the players meeting or on the handout.
We'll be doing the AC Finals Cup at the end of the season again this year. PDGA tournament points for each Aces and Chains tournament you place at this year total up with the top 16 in each of the 5 main divisions duking it out for bragging rights (and the cash pot.)
We'll be giving it more structure this year, with a match on each weekend (instead of requiring the players to contact each other to set up their matches.) Play continues for up to four weekends (one match each weekend) until the winner of the division is determined.
First place in each division wins the cash pot (all entry fees for the division) and gets their name added to the perpetual trophy in the shop.
