Hi Damon --
I spoke with John Marren yesterday and told him you had a disc that was his...he said he would get it from you at the Pitner Memorial... 33
Equipment / Re: Shoes?« on: March 31, 2013, 07:55:43 AM »
I'm on my second pair of Keen Disc Golf shoes. The current pair available is the DeLavaega's.
They seem comparable to Merrell's. Unfortunately, I have never seen the Keen's available in retail...online only! Merrell's can be found at places like Dick's, Scheel's or other sporting goods stores... 34

Ray -
I'm not able to play tomorrow, however I do have two baskets that I'm giving to Gibby to bring with him in the morning and he has one! I will be coming up after work to cheer the J-town crew on!! And do whatever I can to help out! Kev 35

That is pretty cool! That's how you'd do it in a casual round with friends...That sounds like a great way to handle it, particularly with an event that encompasses other clubs... 36
Thank You's / Thanks to Innova!!« on: March 07, 2013, 03:43:04 AM »
Here's a different kind of thank you!
First the background: For Christmas, I got a flag pole for my front yard! I have wanted one of these telescopic flag poles for years now. In addition to flying an American flag, I also have a Cubs flag (sorry Frank!). I also wanted a "disc golf" flag. Didn't really matter what type but I started looking for an Innova flag that would work. These proved to be very difficult to find. On a whim and after searching since the first of the year, I decided to email the company. Early afternoon I got a reply from David Shope in customer service telling me that they have a flag that should work nicely. I sent an email back telling him that would be awesome and in addition to my address what would the charge be?? 2 hours later he replied saying it was on it's way to me and there would be no charge! I replied back letting him know I'd send a pic or two of it once I get it in the ground this spring! I don't throw Innova plastic exclusively, I'll throw anything that works for me! Nonetheless, pretty cool gesture on Innova's part. Just wanted to share that with my disc golf fam!! 37
J-Town Disc Golf Club / Re: Sanctioning Bag Tags« on: March 04, 2013, 02:23:09 PM »
That's exactly what I equate a less competitive round to be!
Guess those who play Saturday morning bag tags are just a bunch of cheaters and rule breakers! 38

Well said Jose! You made some great points!

I had forgotten that Tuesday nights play for tags as well, therefore, that just reinforces in my mind that Saturday tags should remain NOT handicapped.

J-Town Disc Golf Club / Re: Sanctioning Bag Tags« on: February 28, 2013, 05:58:08 AM »
For me, I think just competing for the lowest number tag is enough. We are fortunate to have a variety of opportunities in the J-Town area for competition. Many of them do include a chance to improve one's rating.
I personally enjoy the laid back atmosphere the bag tag league provides. I don't feel as though every league/tourney or chance to play has to be at such a competitive level. While I enjoy competition and plan my disc golf schedule with the competition in mind, I often don't have the opportunity to play a "casual" round...The bag tags provide that casual round for me. I am not in favor of bag tags being a handicap league but in fairness I will say that if the $1 is an option and I can still participate in tags without being in the rating of the league, I would continue to play on Saturday mornings. If it was mandatory, I would probably discontinue playing in the bag tag league as I already play in the Tuesday night Handicap league. Just my 2 cents. Kevin 41
