Courses / Re: Trinity Links Tee Pads final pour

I don't know about Tom being to Trinity as you are to Frank... Tom does a lot out here but there is a good team that works out here and that is Dan O. Matt P. Tom M. and myself.... I think Matt and Dan o are out here more then anyone... Scotty C. is also a huge help when he can make it... Dean did all the framing and the pads look awesome...  I do have to say I have a good group of guys helping out...
I knew I would get in trouble for saying that. I only repeated what someone said to me. I did mention Scotty & Bangham & there was a ton of help. Shawn was telling me about wheeling the gravel up the hill on #4. I think what it says Thor, is what people think about you,  Lockport & Disc Golf!
I'm glad I could help & my hat's off to all the soldiers!!!
I can't think of any other town that crawls with disc golf faithfuls like J-Town does! What a great group of people who are so loyal to the game. It's pretty amazing to me and I'm glad to know most of you. The History and the work accomplished in J-Town World is second to none! Keep up the good work and thank you for providing.

Shoot The Breeze / Re: My Friend FRANK
« on: August 13, 2011, 05:33:01 AM »
I bumped into an old friend that's been following my process. He mentioned that there was some concern with his prostate & was following what was going on with me. His mind went into worst case scenario, but all his tests came back negative. So this is a good news update for those who don't see me often.

I had an appointment with the GU Dr. & was complaining about the usual things, shortness of breath, being tired, urinating, weakness, no sex & went on about the loss of hair on the back of my shoulders & thinning on my arms & legs, & the new hair on the top of my head. In so many words he raised both hands in the air & yelled Yeaaah!!! the medication is working. He also suggested my psa will be lower than 0.13. If you don't already know, the medication, zoladex, removes my testosterone.
In getting another ct scan it was discovered I have a "substantially enlarged heart" from the prior scan. I had more tests & the only thing discovered was an "left artial enlargement" & it's just something to be watched.

So in my cancer fight, I'm doing good. The side effects appear to be normal. I haven't found anyone with my situation. Everyone I talked with has had their prostate removed. It make me wonder it I made the right decision. Thanks for your prayers & concern.
Positives=Your winning my Brother!!!
                                :)

Because of Dean's call I'll be there to do what I can. I mentioned to Dean the disaster that's setting up & what I can do  to help prevent it. We'll do the best we can & keep our fingers crossed.
Another reason Frank Grimes belongs in the Disc Golf Hall of Fame! He just keeps on giving!

Who is coming up for this event? Awesome back to back weekends in Illinois.
Me. Both days as usual. Love the views of the Rock River and the course and the IOS. I was also born in Dixon so family is close by but we won't be seeing any of them this time. I highly recommend this one! Get signed up to save that $5.

Had a great time this weekend and Thank You to everyone that made it happen! Illinois State is one event I will always mark down as a must. Highland Park is a very challenging and fun course to play. Having a A-tier event or Am's Worlds should be in consideration for J-Town. That would be sweet!

Wanted to give a quick update on the payouts for the divisions and the number of players signed up:

-I had four more people sign up today, and the first 70 to get a free disc, mini, and towel are filling up. Only about 30 spots remain for the free stuff so if you haven't signed up yet.....do it soon so  you can get the free stuff!
-I also wanted to clarify something about the payouts as I had a few people ask: I will be adding money (in the form of merchandise money) to other divisions besides Pro. While I have a lot of money added for the tournament, I wanted to take care of other divisions as well. While the Pro Division is getting a nice chunk of change (as evidenced by the guaranteed $475 in cash to the winner and the free merch money to those that don't place), I am also adding money to Advanced and Intermediate and a small amount to the Masters Divisions. Recreation will still be a nice field with some awesome prizes as well. The logic behind this is simply that I knew I couldn't get 100 pros to play my tournament, and I wanted to cater to other divisions because of my higher than average entry fees. So while Pro is certainly getting some nice money added, other divisions will have some added money payable in merchandise.
-I will post a list of the pre-registered players in the next few weeks. I have already posted a "Pro" pre-reg list.

I also wanted to remind everyone that the top advanced player will get at least $125 in cash and $125 in merch money. So far, only five advanced have signed up as a handful of upper players are making the job to Pro for this tournament (12 Pros signed up so far). So there could be an opportunity for someone there!

On the intermediate side, first prize is looking at least $100 in merchandise money plus a little goody.....As I have enticed the pros and advanced with extra merch money for those that don't place, I wanted to do something extra for the Intermediate players. Coop Records in East Peoria has added an extra $50 in gift cards to the tournament, so a big thanks to them! With that in mind, the top intermediate player will get an extra $30 in Coop Records gift certificates while the 2nd prize in intermediate will get an extra $20 in Coop Records gift certificates, on top of the actual prize money.

So don't wait to sign up! I should be able to announce four more sponsors this week!
Looking forward to this! Great job on getting sponsors.

WEEK 14 - July 6, 2011
Second Half #1
Community Park - Channahon, Illinois
18 Holes - Short Tees - Par 54

CONDITIONS
The temperature started in the high 80s. It was also very humid and windy. It cooled off into the high 70s at the end. For it being the middle of summer Channahon is in fantastic condition. The course looks great Frank!

Thanks to Brew & Grow Bolingbrook & Jake Riley for donating a t-shirt for a ctp.
