Joliet disc enthusiasts:
A friend and I (each a little more than 45 years of age and reliable persons) are looking to leave Wednesday morning (Oct. 14); to play our way down to your area. We are hoping for a floor to sleep on; probably Wednesday evening; near Joliet. We will then play a number of courses in your area; eventually finding our way north to a host near Lake Forest.....and then, back towards Wisconsin.
I, offer, in return; lodging at my home in the Fox Cities, Wisconsin (Appleton). and, We have a number of 3 to 3.5 rated courses and a couple; lesser known layouts, in our immediate area. Within a couple of hours, in every direction, are some rated 4 or better (these references are on a 1 - 5 scale). I will also bring home made wooden gifts to say thanks.
I realize this is awfully short notice; but my traveling mate and I just decided (for sure) to undertake one more good weather journey. My work situation allows me this window.
I have already played/and greatly enjoyed a number of courses in your area: i.e. West Park (quite some years ago); Highland Park (played t2009, from long and short tees and enjoyed very much), Haine's Wayside (more than once; year's ago), The Oaks (this year and nice), Shorewood Park (in a tournament, year's ago); mabye Channahon (I'm not sure; and want to play it again; as I've heard it's revamped).
There still are some I would like to play. As mentioned; Channahon, Trinity Links, Lewis University, Avery Preserve, Vounteer Park ( I know these last two aren't considered very highly; but, I have yet to play them....)....and from the other side: Indian Boundary South Park and Commissioner Park (same note as last two). May try to make a return to West Park, if time allows.
It was a goal of mine to reach 100 courses played in Illinois this year. I am currently between 70 and 80. Will probably not make 100 until spring of next year; but, would like to get one more trip in in 2009.
Any offer of hospitality is greatly appreciated, thanks,
