I lost my tie dye Boss at Channahon yesterday. I think it was somewhere between hole 10 and hole 13. Threw an extra disc and forgot to pick up the Boss.
As usual, I will offer a disc in return if you find it. I'll be at the Channahon Classic on Saturday, or you call me at 815-993-DISC (3472) if you find it.
I am trying to put together a teaching clinic for a group of scouts. Vibram has offered up to 24 factory seconds of their soon to be released disc to be given away to community groups. As a Vibram retailer, I have been offered this opportunity.
Anyone who would be interested in spending some time teaching some young scouts (probably 9-10 years old) how to play, please get in touch with me.
This is very early in the planning stages. I have an email out to a scout troop to see if they are interested. Once I get the go ahead from them, I'm going to reserve those discs from Vibram, and we can give each participant a free disc.
Has anyone ever found a lost disc of yours? What is the accepted etiquette for that situation?
I'm asking because I saw an exchange between two disc golfers in front of my table the other day. One golfer saw that the other one had one of his lost discs. He was polite about pointing out that it was his, and then he took it back. (He didn't ask for it back, he just took it.)
My problem with this is that I didn't hear him even say thank you. Granted, the other golfer didn't come forward with the disc. But, it is my contention that we should be encouraging golfers to return discs in a positive way. For my part, when a disc gets returned to me, I offer up any disc in my used bin, or in my personal stash of unused discs that I keep in my trunk. I feel this is a win-win because I get my prized disc back, while they get to choose from a bunch of used discs in return. Usually, the other golfer finds a disc they prefer over the one they are returning to me anyway. This costs me almost nothing, and it encourages those golfers honest enough to do so to continue returning lost discs.
Please keep in mind when this situation comes up that "your" lost disc isn't really yours anymore. You lost it. They found it. We all know that saying.
I've overheard a LOT of golfers talking about what they would do to a person they caught carrying a disc they lost. Please adjust your attitude so that we can encourage people to come forward and return lost discs to their original owners.
I'm open to a discussion with anyone who feels I am wrong.....

It is currently clipping a bit on the right, but that is only affecting the chat box and one of the ads. Video box is fully visible and should be fine. I am working with Vibram to see if there is a solution. If need be, when the video starts playing, you can put your cursor over the video box and select "full" to make the video full screen.
If anyone has any other problems with the feed, please let me know. This is very experimental both on my part, and on Vibrams. I am excited to see how it works out.
My friend Bill Thornton lost his cream colored KC Pro 10X Teebird with a Florida stamp on it on the temp hole between 8 & 9 on Sunday during the tournament. It has his info on the back.
I'm offering a cash reward of $20 to anyone who returns this to me so I can return it to Bill.
Bill was a huge help to me at the Channahon tournament, and I'd like to pay him back by tracking down this disc for him.
This one is a little different. The tournament is called "Deuces Wild" because the player in each division (minimum 3 players per division) that scores the most deuces will win a special players pack, regardless of where they place in the tournament.
This tournament plays one round at Westpark, and one round at Highland Park. Both parks are very close to each other, so travel time shouldn't be much of an issue. Having one round at each park should keep it interesting all day long.
The players are to meet at the pavilion above hole 8 at Westpark on both days.
Pre-registration closes at 9pm Friday, July 9th. Registration the day of the event is an additional $5. Pre-registration is available at www.acesandchains.com
Tentative Schedule:
Saturday: Jr divisions, Recreational, Advanced
Sunday: Novice, Intermediate, Pro Open
Registration will be open from 8am-9am both days. Players meeting at approx. 9:15am, and tee off at approx. 9:30am both days.
This event is only $25 for amateurs if you are a PDGA member. Here is the info on the event in Channahon:
June 26th & 27th:
AM/Pro C-Tier tournament playing 2-18+ hole rounds for a total of 36+ holes. Extra holes may be added as needed. I should have enough baskets to have the usual 4 temp holes. Cash payout for Pros, $100 added to the Pro cash pot.
Channahon is one of the premier disc golf courses in the Joliet area. This is the best kept course in the area (Great job as always Frank!) Come out and enjoy the beauty, and the challenge of Channahon.
Divisions schedule is as follows:
Saturday:
Jr. divisions Recreational Advanced
Sunday:
Novice Intermediate Pro divisions
Registration will be open from 8am-9am both days. Players meeting at approx. 9:15am, and tee off at approx. 9:30am both days.
Pre-registration closes at 9pm on Friday, June 25th. Registration the day of the event is an additional $5.
All divisions will play from the short tees for round one, and the long tees for round two.
I received the trophies yesterday, and they look fantastic! See below for a sneak peak at each trophy. I could only attach 4 images, so the advanced trophy is not pictured. But, you get the idea....
