Seems like a small field so far this year. I'd like to run a decent sized bracket for each division, so I'll sweeten the pot a little if it will get people to come out and play. I'll add a few free discs for the AC Finals Champ in each division. It's only $10 to play, cash in, cash out. Open to ALL PLAYERS now.
This is super easy to play. You don't have to play on a weekend (so you can still play all the tournaments coming up in the next few weeks.) You just have to find a convenient time for you and the person you are matched up with to play one round of golf sometime within 7 days of the matchup assignment.
Again, this is pre-registration only. You must register by tomorrow (Wednesday, 10/17) 7pm. Register in person at Aces and Chains, 1706 W. Jefferson St., Joliet, or online at: http://www.acesandchains.com/node/989
If you want to put in Discraft Chainstars, I already have two I'd be willing to donate. It's poor season at the shop, so I can't donate cash at the present. But if someone were to hit me up during the season next year, I'd be happy to pony up something in addition to the two baskets. I was happy to donate money for the teepad on 15 last time, and it would be great to put a new basket there as well.
Pre-reg is now open to all players. Last registrations will be taken no later than 7pm on Thursday October 17th.
The Pro Open division is cancelled again this year due to lack of interest. This will be an AM only event again this year.
We have spots open in Novice, Rec, Int, and Advanced. Anyone who has played in an Aces and Chains tournament is welcome to register and play in the division they are rated for.
I'll have matchups assigned by the end of day on Thursday, Oct 18th (if not before).
This is the last day that invitational spots are being held. If you don't pre-reg by today, your spot may get taken by someone else. Tomorrow I open the registration up for the masses!
Remember, invitational spots are only held till this Wednesday. After that, we open it up to anyone who has played an Aces and Chains tournament. So get your pre-registrations in!
Scott raised some concerns about having the AC Finals, and his tournament on the same weekend, even with the divisions on different days. There really isn't another weekend open until November 10th, and that's getting pretty deep into the fall season. I don't want to step on anyone's toes, and this is just supposed to be a fun little extra at the end of the year, so.......
We're going to keep it informal like last year. Which means players will be paired up and schedule their round together at whatever date/time that is convenient for both. I will still have a few deadlines:
Oct 10th - After Oct 10th, any spots still available will be open to the public. So if you've been invited, be sure to pre-register by this date. Otherwise, your spot may get taken. Any division that is full after this date can start scheduling their matches.
Oct 11th - Pre-registration opens for non-invited players. Any spots not filled will be up for grabs.
Oct 17th - Last day to register.
Oct 18th - Play starts for divisions whether they are full or not. A division must have at least 4 players. Any division that doesn't will be given refunds.
Just like last year, you'll have up to a week to schedule and complete your round. Winner moves on and gets paired up with another player, and they schedule their next round and so on.
OK, We're back to the 13th and 14th, with some small changes to prevent any conflict with The Manhattan Project, the tournament Pitner is running at Round Barn.
AC Finals - Oct 13th:
MA1, MA3
AC Finals - Oct 14th:
MPO, MA2, MA4
This should allow most players who want to play both the AC Finals and The Manhattan Project to do so, as the divisions are on opposite days.
First two rounds will still be at West Park on the dates above. If advancing players want to play the semi-finals, and even the finals on that date, we can do that. Otherwise, the semi-finals and final rounds will be played on a date and time convenient to both players.
Well, I guess it just shows what a great year we've had for disc golf. Tournaments every weekend! It was tough to shoe horn everything in this year, and this is no exception. I guess I'll look over dates and see where else I can put this.....
Originally scheduled for the 13th and 14th, I am moving the AC Finals to the 20th & 21st so it doesn't conflict with another tournament. First post has been updated to show the new date.
Hopefully this date will stay clear, as it really is the only option until November.
Here are the invitation lists. If you are on one of these lists, you may pre-register now. Don't wait, once your divisional bracket fills, no more registrations will be accepted.

As a thank you to all of you who participated in one of our tournaments this year, we will be running the AC Finals tournament again this year. The cost is only $10 for Ams, $20 for Pros. The format is unique. Players are matched one on one against each other for a full round of golf. The winner advances, and the loser........doesn't. Players who advance are matched up against another advancing player until only one player is left in each division bracket. That player wins all the cash from that bracket.
8 Pro players, and 16 Amateur players from each of the four main Am divisions will play in the tournament. The tournament is by invitation only. Invitations are given out to the players with the most PDGA points from Aces and Chains tournaments this year. Pre-registration is not required, but it is the only way to hold a spot.
Initially, we will invite 16 Pros, 21 Advanced, 21 Intermediate, 20 Recreational, and 20 Novice players who will be eligible to pre-register. Once each bracket is full, no more registrations will be accepted for that division. Pre-registration is on a first come, first serve basis. So don't wait to pre-register if you get invited. There are more invitations than there are spots in the tournament. If we have spots left we will open it up to day of registration to anyone who played in one of our tournaments this year.
The winners of each division will have their names put on a perpetual trophy that will be displayed at the shop. Each year, the new winners will be added. Winners will also receive all the cash from their division. So, if the brackets fill, each winner will receive $160!
Rounds one and two will be at West Park, and the semi-final and final rounds will be at Highland.
I had a lot of help this weekend, and I'd like to take this opportunity to say thanks to everyone that helped.
Aaron Studer: The main man on my team all weekend. Aaron volunteered without being asked. He was steady and helpful all weekend. Aaron also got us Sponsors for the last two tournaments, with Fast Printing donating two $25 cash hole sponsors for The Wild West, one for each day.
Mike Kursell: Fantastic artwork once again from Mike Kursell! And, he also helped out at the store on Saturday, making it possible for both Jon and I to be at the tournament.
Diane Johnson: Part of my team on Sunday. Diane helped out all day long.
Jeremiah Bly: Spotter on Saturday. Also helped out both days putting out signs, and other misc. work.
Jon Boster: Jon got 10 (yes, that's right, 10!) hole sponsorships from Smokey's and Barcode 52. So, we were able to put out 5 $25 cash CTPs each day under their name(s)!
Jason Riley: Helped with scorecards and did the leaderboard on Saturday.
Bobby Johnson: Helped prep for the tournament on Friday night, and watched the disc table for me on Saturday.
Ismael Ochoa: Helped with Baskets and misc.
Jose Herrera: Helped with baskets and misc.
Kyle Koetz: Helped with baskets.
Dale Judevine and the Joliet Park District: For working with me on the garbage pickup day, and allowing me to put out the OB lines a week early.
If I missed anyone, I am truly sorry. But to everyone who helped, whether you are on the list or not, I really appreciate it! I don't think I've ever broken down tournament central and been on my way home so early as we did on Saturday. And the help I received Sunday, even in the rain, was great. That eased my burden and warmed my heart. Thanks!
